В начале текущего года стало известно, что Samsung разрабатывает фирменную оболочку One UI 2.5 для своих смартфонов. Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 series starts getting One UI 2.5 update

6 months ago Samsung developed One UI 2.5 for its smartphones. The new software debuted with the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S7 series. On the launch day of these devices, the South Korean firm released One UI 2.5 to the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. Now, the company has started rolling out the One UI 2.5 update to the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 series.
The Galaxy S10 has started receiving the One UI 2.5 update in Germany. It’s a 963,49Mb update that carries firmware version G973FXXU8DTH7. The firmware versions for the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10+ are G970FXXU8DTH7 and G975FXXU8DTH7, respectively.
The new software update brings along the September 2020 Android security patch. The One UI 2.5 update includes Wireless DeX, which debuted on the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Tab S7 series. It lets you mirror your smartphone’s DeX UI screen wirelessly to any TV that features Miracast. There is now a quick setting toggle for the Wireless DeX mode and options to adjust screen zoom and font size.
The new update also comes with an enhanced Pro Video Mode in the camera app, an easier way to share Wi-Fi credentials with other Galaxy devices, and the ability to search for YouTube videos in the keyboard app. The Pro Video Mode allows the selection of video resolution and frame rate, mic selection (front, rear, all, USB, or Bluetooth). The Galaxy S10 series also gets Single Take duration selection (5 seconds to 15 seconds).
Other features that are a part of the new software update for the Galaxy S10 are support for Bitmoji Stickers for the Always On Display mode, split keyboard in the landscape mode, SOS message pre-configuration, and the ability to send SOS location messages every 30 minutes for 24 hours. Bug fixes, security enhancement, and performance improvements are also a part of the update.
If you’re a Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, or Galaxy S10+ user in Germany, you can check for the update by navigating to the phone’s Settings menu, selecting Software update, and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware files from our firmware section. Other regions could soon get the update for the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy Note10 series.
The latest iteration of Samsung’s custom mobile OS, One UI 2.5, is now rolling out to the international variants of the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+, as well as the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. It hence appears that the entirety of last year’s flagship range is now transitioning to this particular implementation of Android 10. And yes, that includes the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

Samsung Electronics announced it will bring new, innovative features found on its flagship Galaxy S20 series to the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 series through an upcoming software update1 starting from March. This software update brings select Galaxy S20 photo and video experiences to the Galaxy S10 and Note10 series. Single Take uses the camera system and AI to capture a number of photos and videos at once and recommends the best shot for you2.
With an improved Night Mode on the Galaxy S10 series, and the addition of Night Hyperlapse on both Galaxy S10 and Note10 series3, you’ll be able to capture even more amazing photos and videos even in low light.
When you’ve captured that perfect image, Custom Filter lets you create your own filter with colors and styles you like from a favorite photo serving as inspiration. This creates a reusable filter that can be applied to future photos when captured.
For the aspiring filmmaker, Pro Video gives you even more control, allowing you to adjust settings like ISO, shutter speed and exposure level. You can also switch between the front and rear cameras while recording video.

Intelligent Gallery

This update also brings a variety of gallery features to help you organize your content. Thanks to AI technology, with Clean View enabled, the Gallery app automatically groups together similar shots of the same subject for a more organized gallery4. Users can easily review similar shots and select their favorite to serve as the photo group’s thumbnail. When viewing a photo in the gallery, you can zoom in on an image and press Quick Crop, located at the top left-hand corner, to crop photos to your desired size.

Easy Sharing Capabilities(5)

You can now share more content quickly. With Quick Share, you can see which of your contacts are nearby and share photos, videos, or even large files with multiple people. With Music Share, you can extend your paired Bluetooth connection and you don’t need to disconnect for a friend to play their music on a speaker or car stereo.

Samsung Wins 46 CES 2020 Innovation Awards for Outstanding Design and Engineering

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in technology, announced today that 46 of its new product innovations have been recognized as CES® 2020 Innovation Awards winners, including three Best of Innovations accolades. Нечто подобное происходит и в индустрии электронных гаджетов. То вдруг внезапно выясняется, что китайские смартфоны, выпускаемые под брэндом Nokia и продающиеся в Европе, отправляют сведения о своих владельцах в Китай, то какие-нибудь фитнес-трэкеры "сливают" данные о тренировках и месторасположении американских военных, усердно тренирующихся на своих базах, то вдруг выясняется, что проекторы от дочерней фирмы китайской Xiaomi начинают терять резкость в ходе просмотра фильма из-за того, что при нагреве деформируются дешёвые пластиковые линзы, установленные в объективе. Вобщем, список подобных проблем можно перечислять очень долго.
Особенно неприятными считаются инциденты, связанные с безопасностью устройств. В первую очередь это касается смартфонов и планшетов, где практически ежедневно обнаруживаются "дыры" в программном обеспечении.
Не избежал подобной участи и Samsung в своей широко разрекламированной подэкранной системе распознования отпечатков пальцев.
Стремясь утереть нос китайским конкурентам, использующим проверенные временем оптические сканеры, южнокорейский производитель обратился к помощи американской Qualcomm, которая как раз заявила о разработке новейшей "самой совершенной" дактилоскопической системы для мобильных устройств.
Судя по всему, давние партнёры так спешили внедрить это "революционное" чудо, что, как говорится, "совсем нюх утратили", не проведя должного количества испытаний. Хотя вовсе не исключается и вариант, когда о проблеме знали определённые люди, но промолчали, ибо понадеялись на авось. Но не пронесло. И теперь скандал набирает обороты, поскольку уязвимость, как утверждают некоторые теcтеры, может касаться не только программной, но и аппаратной части, то есть того самого "революционного" сканера Qualcomm. На практике это означает, что применяя "несертифицированные" чехлы или защитные плёнки, любой человек может разблокировать последние флагманские смартфоны серии Galaxy S10 и Galaxy Note10. Иными словами, под удар попадает вся система идентификации владельца - от содержимого смартфона до мобильных платежей. В таком случае,  обладателям указанных гаджетов настоятельно рекомендуется круглосуточно держать свой Galaxy под контролем, не выпуская из рук (а если ложитесь спать, то заприте телефон в сейфе или, в крайнем случае, в прикроватной тумбочке).
Сможет ли грядущее программное обновление полностью ликвидировать проблему - большой вопрос, так как изначально Samsung предупреждал владельцев "юбилейных десяток" применять только одобренные производителем защитные плёнки, дабы не создавать проблем сканеру от Qualcomm. Теперь становится понятно, почему в инструкции по эксплуатации делался упор на этот момент. Но совершенно непонятно, зачем в Samsung отказались от собственной, гораздо более надёжной, системы распознавания по радужной оболочке глаз, установленной во флагманах 2017 - 2018 годов. Эксперты связывают это со стремлением инженеров мобильного подразделения максимально расширить полезную площадь дисплея, убрав систему оптических сканеров и подсветки для идентификации радужки. Но, в итоге, погнавшись за одним, упустили другое, гораздо более важное.
В результате получается, что владельцы недорогих аппаратов Samsung, включая самые бюджетные трубки J-серии, могут чувствовать себя куда спокойнее, чем обладатели дорогущих флагманов. Samsung made a gross mistake by adopting the unreliable Qualcomm's ultrasound fingerprint scanning system

Last week, news broke out that some Samsung Galaxy S10 users were experiencing an issue with the ultrasonic fingerprint which would allow their phones to be unlocked from non-registered fingerprints. Later on it became apparent that the issue was also replicated on the Galaxy S10+ and Note10 series which brought more attention to the problem.
Samsung issued an official statement on the matter claiming that “certain silicone screen protectors” were causing the issue and that users should stop using these protectors and re-register their fingerprints without them. In a new development, a Note 10 user managed to trick the fingerprint scanner by placing a TPU cutout over it. This shows the vulnerability is not just related to fingerprints that were registered over a screen protector.
The video above shows the user’s Note10 is without a screen protector and we even see him re-register both his thumbs and index fingers for the purpose of the test. At the 1:22 mark, the user places the TPU cutout over the lower part of the screen which manages to trick the scanner to unlock the phone with a non-registered fingerprint.
The same process is performed multiple times with different fingers and each time the scanner gets bypassed. It’s also worth mentioning that the test was performed on the Exynos variant of the Note 10 as we are yet to see if the Snapdragon models are also experiencing the same flaw.
Samsung did issue a software update for the Exynos Note 10+ 5G recently which provides improvements to the fingerprint scanner and should also offer one for the rest of the Note10 and S10 lines soon.

Software Update Brings Powerful Galaxy Note10 Features to the Galaxy S10

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ are packed with powerful tools designed to help users unleash their creativity and be more productive. Now, with an update set for release beginning in European markets from September 23,1 Samsung Electronics is introducing many of those same bar-raising innovations – including features like AR Doodle, a built-in video editor and Link to Windows integration – to the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G.2
Once Galaxy S10 users download the update, they’ll notice that their smartphone’s pro-grade camera has become even more powerful. The update expands the camera’s Night Mode to include support for the front-facing camera as well – offering users more freedom to snap vivid shots after dark. It also introduces enhanced Super steady video stabilization, as well as support for dynamic Galaxy Note10 functions like AR Doodle and Live focus video recording. The former lets users enhance their videos with fun, augmented-reality drawings and messages, while the latter lets them apply bokeh effects (including blur, big circle, color point and glitch) to videos recorded with the front or rear camera.
Whenever Galaxy S10 users capture a memorable clip, the camera’s new, Gallery app-accessible video editor offers all the tools they’ll need to turn it into a share-worthy video. This versatile feature makes it easy to edit videos like a pro, and features simple tools for trimming clips, stitching them together, adjusting playback speed and more. You can even use the function to add subtitles and background music to clips to make your content more unique.
The update also incorporates support for Samsung DeX for PC. Once users download the app from SamsungDeX.com, they’ll be able to launch Samsung DeX on their PC or Mac simply by connecting their Galaxy S10 to their computer via USB cable. Link to Windows support has also been added, which means that Galaxy S10 users will be able to wirelessly connect their phone to their Windows 10 PC and easily view its contents, send and receive messages, and sync recent photos directly from their computer.
Apps that Galaxy S10 users rely on every day, including Samsung Pass and Messages, have also been made more versatile and convenient. Now, Samsung Pass’s setup has been simplified, making it easier for Galaxy S10 users to utilize their device’s advanced biometric technologies to log in to apps and websites quickly and securely. In the Messages app, new icons for adding photos and videos have been positioned to the left of the text window to offer users easy access to the files they need.
As Jiyoung Mun, an engineer at Samsung Electronics’ Mobile R&D Office, explained, the Galaxy S10’s update reflects Samsung’s commitment to offering more users access to exceptional innovations. “At Samsung Electronics, we’re constantly exploring ways to offer Galaxy device users the best possible smartphone experience, and this software update is an extension of that commitment,” said Mun.

Samsung Electronics today announced that the Galaxy Note10 has been named by Wi-Fi Alliance as the first smartphone to be certified for a new standard in connected technology, Wi-Fi 6.

Wi-Fi 6 Enabling New Mobile Experiences

Wi-Fi is a critical piece of infrastructure required to enable the proper function of a growing number of both consumer and commercial devices. From televisions and appliances to security and communication systems, the expectations for everything, and everyone, to be connected is growing. Wi-Fi Alliance has led the development of industry agreed standards for devices for many years. With the launch of Wi-Fi 6 this year, a new certification has been launched to ensure that the highest possible standards are continuously met.
Wi-Fi 6 technology is building on the performance of previous Wi-Fi generations and is the latest technology to be launched from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Wi-Fi 6 will operate in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, offer greater capacity than previous generations and double the number of spatial streams. Devices certified by Wi-Fi Alliance, classed as “Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6™”, will deliver new capabilities for people in a range of situations.

* Wi-Fi 6 will allow family homes to better stream high-definition entertainment, simultaneously manage the connected home and efficiently support multiple devices.
* Outside, Wi-Fi 6 will improve connectivity in high population areas and provide a more consistent service as people move around towns and cities.
* In the enterprise, this new technology will enable greater automation and more advanced capabilities in healthcare monitoring and e-learning as well as continuing to handle large numbers of users and high volumes of data.

Samsung mobile devices with Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6™ will bring more reliable performance even in challenging environments1. This is achieved through a number of the key features of Wi-Fi 6 technology. For example:

* Uplink and downlink Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) increases efficiency and lowers latency for high demand environments. This enables the Samsung Note10 to have stable connectivity in environments with many connected devices.
* Target-Wakeup Time (TWT) improves power efficiency in Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6™ devices, including the Galaxy Note10. Because the TWT schedules transmission time between the Galaxy Note10 and the access point, it allows the Galaxy Note10 to manage its power efficiently until the predetermined wake-up time.
* Multi-User Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) allowsmore data to be transferred at one time, enabling access points to handle larger numbers of devices simultaneously when the Galaxy Note10 is connected to Wi-Fi 6.

As a result of close collaboration with Wi-Fi Alliance, Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy S10 have offered Wi-Fi 6 connectivity from the launch.
