В Samsung тягу китайцев к мобильной "классике" заметили давно и теперь южнокорейский вендор является чуть ли не главным поставщиком таких устройств в Поднебесную. Сегодня в КНР был официально представлен смартфон премиального класса W2019, о подготовке запуска которого мы уже сообщали ранее. Как и положено всем телефонам W-серии, новый аппарат выполнен в раскладывающемся корпусе. На внешней и внутренней сторонах крышки расположены одинаковые сенсорные дисплеи; их размер составляет 4,2 дюйма по диагонали, разрешение — 1920×1080 пикселей, что соответствует формату Full HD. Новинка имеет габариты 132,9×63,4×17,3 мм и весит 257 граммов. Задняя панель защищена от повреждений прочным стеклом Corning Gorilla Glass. Предусмотрены два варианта цветового исполнения — «розовое золото» и «платина». Смартфон оборудован буквенно-цифровой клавиатурой. В боковой части располагается дактилоскопический сканер, а также отдельная кнопка для вызова интеллектуального ассистента Bixby. В тыльной части корпуса установлена двойная камера: она объединяет 12-мегапиксельный модуль с максимальной диафрагмой f/1,5–f/2,4 и ещё один 12-мегапиксельный модуль с максимальной диафрагмой f/2,4. В анонсе также говорится о наличии системы оптической стабилизации, 2-кратного оптического зума и двухтоновой светодиодной вспышке. Есть поддержка съёмки в формате 4K со скоростью 60 кадров в секунду, а таже режим сверхскоростной съёмки 960 к/с в формате Full HD для создания эффектных замедленных эпизодов. "Двигателем" служит процессор Snapdragon 845 (8 вычислительных ядер Kryo 385 с тактовой частотой до 2,8 ГГц), графический контроллер Adreno 630 и сотовый модем Snapdragon X20 LTE. Объём ОЗУ — 6Гб. Покупатели смогут выбирать между версиями с флэш-накопителем вместимостью 128 и 256 Гбайт (плюс карта microSD). Оснащение включает адаптеры Wi-Fi 802.11ac и Bluetooth 4.2, а также модуль NFC. На смартфоне предустановлена операционная система Android 8.1 Oreo. Цена, согласно предварительной информации, составит порядка 1.440 долларов США. The New Samsung W2019 flip phone Samsung has announced the W2019 flagship flip phone through a launch event in China. It has arrived as the successor of the Snapdragon 835 powered W2018 flip phone that was announced in December last year. Compared to the predecessor model, the W2019 has come with some new features such as improved processor, dual rear cameras and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Samsung W2019 flip phone features an external S-AMOLED display of 4.2 inches that carries support for Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The 4.2-inch internal S-AMOLED display of the phone also supports FHD resolution. The clamshell phone when closed measures 132.9 x 63.4 x 17.3mm and it weighs 257 grams. The rear side of the phone is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass. It comes in two color choices of Rose Gold and Platinum. Opening the flip phone reveals its directional keypad as well as its numeric keypad. The smartphone is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is present under the hood of the Samsung W2019. The SoC is supported by 6 GB of RAM. It comes in storage choices of 128 GB and 256 GB. There is a microSD card slot for expanding the storage of the clamshell phone. The W2019 is backed by 3,070mAh battery that offers 85 hours of standby time and around 280 hours of talk time. Turning the phone to its back reveals its horizontally arranged 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual camera module. The main sensor supports f/1.5 – f/2.4 intelligent variable aperture. The secondary sensor has f/2.4 aperture. The dual rear cameras is equipped with features like OIS, 2x optical zoom, 4K video shooting at 60 fps and dual-tone LED flash. It also supports recording of Full HD slow motion videos at 960 fps. The Android 8.1 Oreo OS along with Samsung Experience UI is present preinstalled on the W2019 flip phone. The connectivity features available on the smartphone include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2. It lacks support for 3.5mm audio jack. The handset is equipped with a dedicated button for accessing Bixby AI assistant. Samsung is known for providing exclusive concierge services for the users of W-series flagship flip phone. Free software fixes, phone disinfection and exclusive hotline service are some of the premium services that are available for the buyers of Samsung W2019. Samsung is yet to confirm on the pricing of the smartphone. The smartphone will be exclusively available for purchase through China Unicom. The handset is expected to be priced more than 10,000 Yuan (~$1,439).

The Partnership was established to serve as an open platform to discuss, study, and formulate best practices on AI technologies. Founded in 2016, PAI is a technology industry consortium that conducts research and discussion, shares insights, provides thought leadership, identifies new areas for AI application, and creates informational materials to advance the understanding of AI technologies. The organization currently has more than 70 partners, including major global companies and human rights groups specializing in AI. Acknowledging the rapid development and aiming to positively impact the future of AI technologies, Samsung joined PAI to shape the direction of AI development along with global member companies. As a member of PAI, Samsung will join one of its working groups, Collaboration Between People and AI Systems1, and research possible collaboration between humans and AI. The world's best electric motorcycle Arc Vector is equipped with a unique Samsung battery Recently announced motorcycle maker Arc has launched its first model, the Vector, at Milan’s EICMA Motorcycle show with the company claiming that the Arc Vector is the most advanced electric motorcycle ever brought to market. With a price-tag starting at £90,000! The hand-built Vector has a lightweight carbon-composite structure and battery-module monocoque. Its lighter weight solves one of the headaches normally attributed to brick battery EVs, and ARC are claiming MotoGP levels of chassis stiffness. The Samsung SDI battery cells are cutting-edge and Arc claim to be the first motorcycle manufacturer with access to this technology. The battery packaging has been developed to be completely modular, flexible, and legacy-free, maximised for simplicity, space and mass-reduction. Arc’s batteries are the only motorcycle batteries tested to Reg100 standards – a test normally only undertaken by automotive OEMs. The powercell produces 399 units of voltage, giving a realistic range of around 320 kilometres in urban use and 200 kilometres on the highway. The NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) showed a 600+ kilometre urban range, which is the drive-cycle often quoted by companies. Vector utilises carbon-fibre swingarms front and rear with suspension via custom-made Ohlins dampers. Brembo supply the brakes while the wheels are from BST. The entire package tips the scales at 220kg, which is almost 60kg lighter than comparable machines. Vector has the best power-to-weight ratio of any electric motorcycle of its class by a considerable margin. In raw pace, Vector rivals regular sporting motorcycles, sprinting from standstill to 60mph in 3.1 seconds and carrying on to 120mph. Human Machine Interface (HMI) has been taken to a new level, comprising an intelligent rider jacket packed with haptic sensory technology and a Heads-Up Display (HUD) helmet inspired by those of fighter pilots, giving the user important information and enhancing the freedom and wellbeing of their riding experience. The key to the bike is the Zenith helmet, which has been designed in collaboration with Hedon. Its connected HUD projects speedo, sat-nav and ancillary graphics onto the rider’s visor so they can keep their eyes affixed to the road, Iron Man-style. A live rear-view camera is encased in the calfskin-trimmed helmet, giving the user the ability to see what’s behind them. The bespoke jacket, Origin, represents a game-changing advance in intelligent technology, making motorcycling even more immersive. HMI has been applied to the armoured ride-wear by packing the jacket with audio-type haptic amplifiers – like a smart phone’s vibration notifications, but a lot more advanced. These may vibrate to alert of a potential hazard, provide dynamic performance-based feedback, or enhance the senses when on a stimulating ride. The Origin jacket, which is tailored in collaboration with style gurus Knox, has three settings. Urban Mode focuses on safety, alerting the rider to dangers such as vehicles in their blind spot with a polite tap on the shoulder. Sports Mode gives the rider feedback on the bike’s dynamic position and parameters by taking G-Force related data from the Vector’s carefully nuanced sensors and providing a graduated level of feedback. This tells the rider how close to the limit of the motorcycle’s capabilities the rider is. For example, the harder you brake the more feedback you receive. Euphoric Mode lets you play music through the haptics as you ride and simulates the bass through the jacket’s amplifiers, making your hairs stand on end. It communicates with the Vector bike and the Zenith helmet wirelessly, emboldening freedom by enhancing the senses. Financial backing has been obtained from a number of blue-chip beneficiaries, including Jaguar Land Rover’s venture capital fund InMotion Ventures, Mercia Fund Managers and the Midlands Engine Investment Fund. This is about using technology to strip back the experience of riding a bike, through the use of haptics and HUD. With electric vehicles in general, the powertrain weighs a lot. This really can’t be avoided if you want capacity, distance and performance. So, it was about stripping everything back and using a lot of exotic, lightweight materials, such as carbon-fibre. The chassis and battery module had to be one, and because of this approach we’ve been able to reduce the weight as much as possible to achieve the performance we wanted. The design brief was; if the term ‘cafe racer’ was going to be coined in ten years’ time, what would that look like? “Arc Vector satisfies those of us who are rarely satisfied, who are always looking for a different road, a different view.
