Located in the heart of Chelsea, the New York AI Center will be led by Daniel D. Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research and a global authority in AI robotics, who joined Samsung Electronics last June. With cooperation from a leading authority in neuroscience-based AI technologies, H. Sebastian Seung, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research, the New York AI Center will spearhead the advanced AI research in robotics. As the Chief Research Scientist of Samsung Electronics, Seung will also advise Samsung on advanced AI research in developing future business growth opportunities. “What we need now is to focus on creating new values that make people’s lives easier and more convenient by harnessing the power of AI in Samsung’s products and services,” said Hyun-suk Kim, President and Head of Samsung Research, the advanced R&D arm of Samsung Electronics’ device business. “To do this, our Global AI Centers, including the New York AI Center, must play a pivotal role.” Samsung has announced plans to expand its advanced AI research capabilities to employ about 1,000 specialists by 2020. На вопрос, заданный по-английски, "Вы говорите по-немецки?", виртуальный ассистент отвечает, что это произойдёт "достаточно скоро и мы сможем поговорить на немецком без проблем". Примерно то же самое Bixby отвечает, когда разговор касается французского. В то же время относительно поддержки других языков ответы были менее уверенными, но также с намёком на запуск в дальнейшем. На прошедшей недавно берлинской выставке IFA 2018 стало окончательно понятно, что поддержка немецкого в Bixby вскоре будет доступна. В рамках IFA Samsung продемонстрировал работу своего голосового помощника именно на немецком языке, хотя официально ничего подтверждено не было. Тем не менее уже очевидно, что запуск "немецкой" Bixby не за горами. Bixby may soon be able to speak in German Interestingly, the news about imminent support for German comes from Bixby itself. Upon asking “Do you speak German?”, Galaxy users are receiving a reply saying, “Soon enough we’ll have tons of conversation in German!”. When Bixby is asked the same question about Hindi (or any other unsupported language for that matter), the reply is slightly different and less assuring, indicating the Bixby answer about German is indeed a hint for the forthcoming launch. Making the upcoming change even more apparent, Samsung showcased Bixby demos in German to the visitors at the recently concluded IFA 2018 in Berlin. Though the company has refused to officially comment on the arrival of German language support, the launch seems obvious and not very far. Samsung is expected to announce more improvements to Bixby at the Samsung Developer Conference in November. The company is also going to showcase and possibly launch its TIZEN-powered Galaxy Home smart speaker at the same event. The timing seems apt to officially announce German on Bixby to expand the market for the Galaxy Home beyond the English-speaking countries.
