Samsung Galaxy S10 design leaks and it could be the biggest jump forward yet
Samsung's Galaxy S10 design and display have leaked and it could be the best screen made so far by the company with a true edge-to-edge build.
The new Samsung Galaxy S10 has leaked in a photo that shows off a radical new screen design.
It appears the new S10 display could be a true edge-to-edge screen that is free from buttons, sensors, cameras and speakers.
The leaked image comes from Ice Universe, a so far reliable source that has had access to lots of Samsung phones ahead of time in the past.
The photo shows what's claimed to be the new Samsung Galaxy S10 being held in hand and has the word "beyond" in the tweet – a term also used by Samsung to describe the handset.
Along with this incredible screen, there's also the appearance of a Bixby button on the side which does add weight to the claim that this is a Samsung phone.
Until now there have been very few all screen phones due to the nature of hiding front-facing cameras, earpiece speakers and sensors.
Reports suggest that Samsung has been working on this issue for some time.
Samsung has been working on tech which uses the screen's glass to vibrate like a speaker, in place of an earpiece speaker.
The Korean company has also been working to perfect and in-screen fingerprint reader that uses ultrasonic tech to recognise the user's fingerprint.
That leaves the camera to hide. If this is anything like the Vivo Apex it may have a pop-up camera for times when selfie taking is needed.
While the screen's edge-to-edge quality is exciting enough, Samsung is a screen manufacturer so it should also be high quality.
Rumours have suggested the S10 display could have a resolution of up to 600 pixel per inch. A jump up from the Galaxy S9's 570 ppi.
That makes the Galaxy S10 near to 4K resolution. This makes sense as Samsung wants to enhance the VR experience that its Gear VR headset offers.
Since the headset relies on a phone being placed close to the wearer's eyes, pixelation is obvious with anything less than very high resolutions.
Samsung is also reportedly working on a totally new type of display in the Galaxy X which should have a foldable screen.
The Galaxy X is expected to feature a larger 7.3-inch folding display which folds down while a 4.5-inch outer display remains for use in phone mode.
Samsung is rumoured to launch its Galaxy S10 in January and the Galaxy X in February of 2019. Before them, we should see the release of the Galaxy Note 9 later this year.
