ПАО «МТС», крупнейший российский телекоммуникационный оператор и провайдер цифровых услуг, и Samsung Electronics Сo, Ltd., крупнейший мировой производитель в сфере потребительской электроники и передовых информационных технологий, сообщают о проведении серии тестов в сети пятого поколения, продемонстрировав работу 5G-устройств для различных сценариев повседневного использования: совершения видеозвонков, просмотра потокового видео сверхвысокой чёткости и занятий киберспортом.
Демо-зона 5G была развёрнута в выставочном зале Центрального музея радиосвязи им. А.С. Попова (г. Санкт-Петербург), где журналисты испытали возможности тестовой сети МТС пятого поколения на прототипах 5G-планшетов: совершили HD-видеозвонки и провели виртуальный матч по киберфутболу в сети с минимальной задержкой между устройствами. В тестовой зоне также была продемонстрирована передача потокового 4K-видео сверхвысокой чёткости.
Для проведения тестов использовались комплексные 5G-решения Samsung: прототипы планшетов, CPE-роутер, блоки радиодоступа, виртуализированные RAN и ядра сети 5G.
«Наша задача в сотрудничестве с вендорами – выводить новые технологии из стадии лабораторных экспериментов, внедряя их в коммерческое использование. Сегодня гости нашей совместной с Samsung тестовой зоны убедились на собственном опыте, что 5G – это не фантастическое завтра, а уже почти готовые для выполнения широких повседневных задач комплексные сетевые решения, которые предоставят пользователям новые возможности, недостижимые в привычных сетях 4G», – отметил директор МТС в Санкт-Петербурге и Ленинградской области Павел Коротин.
«Сегодняшние тесты продемонстрировали готовность сетевой инфраструктуры МТС к развертыванию сетей пятого поколения. Мы рады вместе с нашим партнёром исследовать возможности этой технологии для создания новых сценариев её применения как для конечных пользователей, так и для бизнес-клиентов», – прокомментировал вице-президент Samsung Electronics в России Чой Сын Сик.
Samsung и МТС сотрудничают с 2014 года, когда состоялся совместный запуск LTE-сетей в городах Северо-Западного федерального округа России, включая Санкт-Петербург и Ленинградскую область. В 2017 году партнёры заключили соглашение о расширении и обновлении сети МТС на основе решений Samsung для LTE-Advanced Pro и IoT, а также изучении возможностей сетей 5G для промышленного применения.

Samsung’s 5G network and devices used to demonstrate multiple 5G scenarios such as HD video calls, 4K UHD video streaming and mobile video game
Samsung Electronics and Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), Russia’s largest telecommunications operator and digital services provider, announced that they used Samsung’s 5G network and devices to successfully demonstrate a series of 5G scenarios including HD video calls, ultra-low latency video games and high-definition video streaming.
The demonstration zone was set up in the exhibition hall of the Popov Central Museum of Radio Communications, one of the world’s oldest museums of science and technology, in St. Petersburg. Guests and journalists were given the chance to make HD video calls and play a football simulation video game on Samsung’s 5G prototype tablets. 5G provides an unprecedented mobile video game user experience by dramatically reducing the response rate between devices.
The demonstrations also included streaming of 4K ultra-high definition video. These trials utilized Samsung’s 5G end-to-end solutions including 5G routers (CPE, Customer Premise Equipment) and prototype tablets, 5G radio access unit, virtualized RAN and virtualized core network.
“Our goal is to adapt new technologies to commercial use in cooperation with industry-leading vendors. Today’s trial with Samsung Electronics demonstrates that 5G is not an academic theory, but presents a nearly ready set of practical network solutions that will allow customers to manage a broad range of everyday tasks and open new opportunities that are unachievable on 4G,” commented Pavel Korotin, Director of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, MTS.

Samsung and MTS began their cooperation in 2014 with the launch of LTE networks in the Northwestern Federal District of Russia, including St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. In the second half of 2017, Samsung and MTS signed an agreement to expand and upgrade MTS’ network with LTE-Advanced Pro and IoT features. The companies will also continue their collaboration on 5G.
