В 2019-м году мобильные процессоры Samsung могут появиться в сверхтонких ноутбуках

Недавно американская компания Qualcomm продемонстрировала свои решения на базе однокристальной системой Snapdragon 850 применительно к тонким ноутбукам с операционной системой Microsoft Windows. Судя по всему, такой же шаг вскоре предпримут и другие разработчики мобильных SoC, включая Samsung, MediaTek, HiSilicon, Apple и Unisoc (Spreadtrum и RDA).
Скорее всего уже в 2019-м году они представят соответствующие SoC, выпускаемые по 7-нм технологии. Samsung здесь имеет некоторые преимущества, так как первым в мире освоил выпуск 7-нм чипов с помощью новейшего метода EUV, который подразумевает использование экстремального ультрафиолетового облучения во время производственного цикла.
Мобильные SoC нового поколения, нашедшие применение во флагманских смартфонах и планшетах Samsung, обладают высокой производительностью и низким энергопотреблением, то есть как раз теми свойствами, которые необходимы пользователям ноутбуков.
Судя по недавним сообщениям об интеграции ПО на базе Linux в топовых гаджетах Samsung последнего поколения, тенденция к замещению традиционных процессоров мобильными уже очевидна. А если учесть факт недавней встречи главы Samsung Ли Джей-ёна с лидером Microsoft Сатьей Наделлой, то вполне можно предположить и заинтересованность обеих сторон в портировании Windows OS на мобильные платформы.
Рыночные эксперты полагают, что такое изменение в компьютерной индустрии может нанести серьёзный удар по производителям традиционных процессоров Intel и AMD, поскольку они довольно быстро могут быть вытеснены из сегмента ульрабуков, пользующихся высоким спросом.

New-generation smartphone SoCs highlight high performance and low power consumption, which are exactly the requirements by slim notebooks. Accordingly, chances are getting high for global chipmakers to venture into the niche market for slim notebooks, the sources said.
The sources continued that global suppliers of mobile chipsets can easily tap into the market for slim notebooks if they can get software support. In this regard, once chipmakers join forces with Microsoft to address the compatibility issue for chipsets and Windows interface, it will be highly feasible for new-generation slim notebooks to adopt mobile chip platforms instead of CPUs in the future.
Along with growing AI applications, global new-generation smartphone SoCs have integrated the functions of CPU, GPU and NPU. This, coupled with the support of advanced 7nm process that will become mainstream node for mobile SoCs in 2019, will create a larger leeway for business expansion by global mobile chip suppliers, the sources indicated.
Accordingly, the sources commented that leading chipmakers are aggressively strengthening AI function and power-saving performance for their 7nm mobile chipsets, and such chip solutions will become a new choice beyond Intel and AMD processors for notebook makers.
