Thunderbolt™ 3 – разработанный компанией Intel интерфейс, который позволяет передавать большие объёмы данных, видео и аудио в рамках одного подключения. Thunderbolt 3 передаёт данные со скоростью до 40 Гбит/с, что в 8 раз превышает скорость USB 3.0. Подключение также обеспечивает в 4 раза большую пропускную способность, чем HDMI 1.4, для скоростной передачи аудио- и видеосигнала.
При подключении к док-станции с дополнительными портами, один кабель Thunderbolt 3 может соединять до шести устройств, включая ПК, дисплеи и накопители. Улучшенная совместимость

Thunderbolt™ 3: a Single Cable Solution for Next-Level Connectivity

Offering the next generation in fast and simple connectivity, Thunderbolt™ 3 is a cable developed by Intel that can transfer data, video and audio – all via a single connection. Now, Samsung Electronics is responding to increasing consumer demand for the swift transmission of high-definition and high-specification content from device to device by creating innovative products that support Thunderbolt 3.

Heightened Connectivity

With support for up to 40Gbps of high-speed data transmission, Thunderbolt 3 transfers data eight times faster than USB 3.0. The connection also provides a video bandwidth that is four times greater than HDMI 1.4, when transmitting audio and video signals.
When the cable is connected to an accessory dock with additional ports, an individual Thunderbolt 3 cable can connect up to six devices all at once, including PCs, displays and storage devices. This means that the cable has the capacity to transfer large files and charge a device with a maximum 100 watt (W) output simultaneously, or transmit videos onto two UHD (4K) monitors.
The Thunderbolt 3 cable can also be used to connect a laptop to a high-performance graphics card, allowing users to enhance their gaming experience.

Enhanced Compatibility

Thunderbolt 3 has the same shaped connector as a USB-C (USB type C), which is designed to connect to smaller mobile devices, with no distinction between the top and the bottom sides. The cable is embedded with a USB 3.1 host controller to facilitate all USB functions. However, it is important to note that you cannot use a Thunderbolt 3 connection on a PC that does not support the Thunderbolt 3 interface, even if the device has the same USB-C type port.

Samsung’s CJ791 QLED Monitor was the first curved monitor to feature Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, with two ports. The display provides a high-definition environment for work and play, not only when connected to a PC, but also to a premium laptop equipped with the Thunderbolt 3 interface, such as the 2018 Notebook 9 Always. The Thunderbolt 3 interface also enables the CJ791 to provide up to 85W of charging power. Samsung опубликовал официальный пресс-релиз, где объявлено о запуске в производство портативных твердотельных накопителей Portable SSD X5, которые рассчитаны на профессиональных пользователей и специалистов в области создания и обработки контента (прежде всего 4K видео).
Новинка использует стандарт NVMe и высокоскоростной интерфейс Thunderbolt 3, который обеспечивает пропускную способность до 40 Гбит/с. Для подключения служит симметричный коннектор USB Type-C, твкже говорится о совместимости с компьютерами под управлением операционных систем Windows и macOS, однако обычные порты USB 3.0/3.1 для работы с накопителем не подходят.
Samsung Portable SSD X5 обеспечивает очень высокие показатели быстродействия. Так, скорость последовательного чтения информации достигает 2800 Мбайт/с. Запись данных в последовательном режиме может осуществляться со скоростью до 2300 Мбайт/с. Такие характеристики достигаются за счёт того, что накопитель основывается на той же платформе, что и актуальные внутренние NVMe SSD корпорации.
Покупатели смогут выбирать между тремя вариантами вместимости — 500Гб, 1Тб и 2Тб. Имеется возможность шифрования информации по алгоритму AES с ключом длиной 256 бит.
Новинка выполнена в прочном металлическом корпусе. Вендор заявляет, что устройство выдерживает падения с высоты до 2 метров. Габариты: 119×62×19,7 мм, вес — 150 граммов.
В продаже на мировом рынке накопитель Samsung Portable SSD X5 появится в начале сентября. В России приобрести новинку можно будет по ориентировочной цене 28.000 рублей, 48.000 рублей и 95.000 рублей за версии ёмкостью 500Гб, 1Тб и 2 Тб соответственно. Однако сроки появления устройства в отечественной рознице пока неизвестны.

Накануне старта крупнейшей в Европе выставки потребительской электроники IFA 2018 Samsung анонсировал монитор CJ79 (модель C34J791), который уже доступен для заказа в целом ряде стран континента.
Монитор оснащён изогнутым (1500R) 34-дюймовым экарном с разрешением 3440×1440 пикселей и соотношением сторон 21:9.
Особенность новинки заключается в наличии двух интерфейсов Thunderbolt 3 на основе разъёма USB Type-C, которые обеспечивают пропускную способность до 40 Гбит/с. Реализована технология AMD FreeSync, обеспечивающая синхронизацию частоты смены кадров между графической картой и монитором: это повышает плавность игрового процесса.
Дисплей у Samsung CJ79 выполнен по технологии квантовых точек (QLED). Заявлен 125-процентный охват цветового пространства sRGB. Время отклика матрицы составляет 4 мс (GTG).
Яркость составляет 300 кд/м2, контрастность - 3000:1, углы обзора по горизонтали и вертикали составляют 178 градусов, а частота обновления в 100Гц.
