Северная Америка решительно отказывается от коммутационного оборудования для проводной и мобильной связи китайского производства. Вслед за США эстафету приняла Канада, прекратившая закупки аппаратного и программного обеспечения от Huawei, которая уже неоднократно была уличена в шпионской деятельности в пользу спецслужб КНР, а также нарушениях эмбарго на предоставление услуг связи тоталитарным режимам в Иране и ряде других регионов.
Об отказе от Huawei ранее объявили такие известные канадские операторы как Bell Canada и TELUS, а 15 марта SaskTel опубликовал пресс-релиз, где подтверждается заключение эксклюзивного контракта с Samsung на поставку полного спектра оборудования, софта и услуг для организации сетей ультраскоростной связи 5G.
На официальном информационном сайте Samsung Electronics также опубликовано сообщение об этом партнёрстве.

По меркам малонаселённой Канады (37 миллионов жителей) SaskTel является довольно крупным региональным оператором связи, обслуживающем около 1,5 миллионов абонентов.
Ранее было объявлено о начале поставок 5G-оборудования Samsung одному из крупнейших канадских провайдеров TELUS, который обслуживает более 10 миллионов абонентов.
Canadian telecom operator SaskTel has announced that Samsung will become the exclusive provider of 5G technology for its networks
North America is resolutely abandoning Chinese-made wired and mobile switching equipment. Following the United States, Canada took the baton, having stopped purchasing hardware and software from Huawei, which has already been repeatedly accused of espionage in favor of the PRC intelligence services, as well as violations of the embargo on the provision of communication services to totalitarian regimes in Iran and a number of other regions.
Such well-known Canadian operators as Bell Canada and TELUS previously announced the cancellation of Huawei's services, and on March 15, SaskTel issued a press release confirming the conclusion of an exclusive contract with Samsung for the supply of a full range of equipment, software and services for organizing ultra-high-speed 5G communication networks.
The official information site of Samsung Electronics has also published a message about this partnership.
“SaskTel’s deployment of a transformational 5G network will foster continued innovation and support the growth of Saskatchewan’s technology sector,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “5G technology will deliver new levels of performance and efficiency that will enhance user experience and set the foundation for smart cities, next generation virtual healthcare, immersive education, smart agriculture technology and next level gaming.”

Earlier it was announced the start of deliveries of Samsung 5G equipment to one of the largest Canadian telecom operators TELUS.
