Samsung Electronics объявляет о запуске Galaxy Tab S6 – нового планшета для творчества и общения, развлечений и эффективной работы. В России устройство поступит в продажу 7 сентября и будет доступно по рекомендованной розничной цене 52.990 рублей за модификацию с Wi-Fi-модулем и 59.990 рублей за LTE-версию в сером, голубом и золотом цветах. С 23 августа в фирменных магазинах, на официальном сайте и в розничной сети партнёров Samsung пользователи могут разместить предзаказ на Galaxy Tab S6 и получить чехол-клавиатуру в подарок1.

Обновлённый S Pen

Сегодня возможности дистанционного управления и беспроводной зарядки S Pen предоставляют владельцам Galaxy Tab S6 ещё больше свободы действий: используя функцию жестов (действия S Pen Air), можно легко делать снимки или управлять мультимедийным контентом даже если планшет не находится у вас в руках. 10 минут зарядки беспроводного S Pen позволят работать с аксессуаром на протяжении 10 часов.
Рукописные записи можно преобразовать в цифровой текст и экспортировать в такие форматы, как документ Microsoft Word, в один клик. Во время просмотра видео заметки или наброски можно делать прямо на экране, регулируя прозрачность окна Samsung Notes, для максимально простой многозадачной работы.

Laying the Foundation

Как создавалась функция дистанционного управления в S Pen

Появление электронного пера Samsung S Pen на рынке в 2011 году стало знаковым моментом в истории смартфонов. 1.Проблема

В эпоху смартфонов тапы, свайпы и "щипки" по экрану стали едва ли не самыми распространёнными движениями. Однако они работают не всегда, а, как правило, только при физическом прикосновении к смартфону. Разработчики постоянно предлагают решения для дистанционного управления гаджетами, от сэлфи-палок до штативов и других приспособлений, но мы всегда знали, что можно найти более простой способ.

2.Цель

Создавая Galaxy Note9, мы стремились сделать электронное перо S Pen более многофункциональным и дать пользователям возможность взаимодействовать со смартфоном удалённо. Это позволит владельцам флагманов выполнять с их помощью больше задач, даже когда физически нет возможности прикоснуться к смартфону.

03.Идея

В S Pen применяется технология Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE), которая превращает обычный стилус в пульт дистанционного управления. Для работы BLE требуется больше энергии, а значит, необходимо добавить в S Pen аккумулятор, но без ущерба для удобства письма и других полюбившихся пользователям линейки Note функций. Подзарядка батареи также должна быть быстрой и простой.

4.Решение

Для работы Bluetooth требуется другой уровень мощности, поэтому проектирование электрической схемы S Pen оказалось нелёгкой задачей. Нужно было найти место для суперконденсатора и расположить отдельную цепь внутри устройства, чтобы задействовать новые функции S Pen без ущерба для дизайна. После многочисленных тестов и экспериментов, мы разработали специальную интегральную схему, позволяющую обеспечить различные уровни тока в режиме письма и в режиме подзарядки. 01. The Problem

Tapping, swiping, and pinching have become powerful gestures in the age of smartphones, but there’s one major limitation: they only work when users can physically touch the phone. While there have been numerous attempts in the past to overcome this constrain with selfie sticks, tripods, and other gadgets, we felt there could be a simpler solution.

02. The Goal

With the Galaxy Note9, we wanted to make the S Pen more versatile to broaden the range of interactions users have with their smartphones. If users can communicate with their phones from a distance without the burden of carrying bulky accessories, the added flexibility would allow them to do more with their devices. Even when they can’t reach the smartphone, they can still enjoy the benefits of Galaxy Note9’s premium features.

03. The Idea

We decided to combine Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) with the S Pen to turn the stylus into a remote control. BLE needs extra power to work, which meant we had to incorporate a battery inside the stylus while keeping the premium writing experience and other functions Note users have come to love. Recharging the battery also has to be quick and easy.

04. The Solution

The Bluetooth function requires a different level of power, which made the design of the S Pen’s circuit challenging. While we were able to find space for a Super Capacitor, we couldn’t fit a separate circuit inside to power the new features of the S Pen without changing its iconic design. This meant we had to come up with a tailored solution.
After numerous tests and experiments, we developed an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit to deliver different levels of electric current for writing mode and charging mode. This also allows the S Pen’s button to detect proximity to the Galaxy Note9 and switch automatically from electromagnetic resonance mode to Bluetooth mode when the stylus is far away from the smartphone.

05. The Result

Equipped with Bluetooth capabilities, the latest S Pen delivers unmatched freedom and functionality. Whether it’s taking group selfies, giving PowerPoint presentations or controlling music and videos, the stylus can control the Galaxy Note9 within a 10m radius1.

Samsung starts Galaxy Note 10 project codenamed da Vinci

Samsung Electronics has recently launched a new project under the codename da Vinci to develop the next-generation Galaxy Note, according to reports on Sept. 11.
The project is part of the Korean tech giant’s blueprint for showcasing innovative features in the 10th edition of Note, including an improved S Pen digitizer.
The detailed specifications of the larger-screen smartphone have not been decided as the project is in the initial stages. On the design front, some industry officials forecast that the next model will look similar to Note 9, which was unveiled in August.
“Samples of some components for Note 10 that we have received from Samsung look like those used in the last model,” an industry source was quoted by local news outlet The Bell as saying. “Similar to the Note 9, both sides of the phone will be curved, and the device will feature the ‘Infinity’ end-to-end display design with no physical home button,” the source added.
Since the first edition’s debut in 2011, the digital pen has been a signature feature of the larger-screen smartphone, often called as the phablet, a portmanteau of phone and tablet.
The latest Note 9 comes fitted with Bluetooth-enabled digital pen for the first time, which has its own battery and works as a remote camera shutter or a presentation remote.
Since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, caused mainly by faulty batteries in 2016, the project timeline for a new flagship phone development has been extended from six months to a year.
Samsung mobile division CEO Koh Dong-jin, a long-time advocate of the digital pen, said at a media conference in August that “Samsung has a two- to three-year development roadmap for the Note pen.”

Samsung’s ultimate productivity service solution has been enhanced for the Galaxy Note9 with highly portable HDMI adapters, which users can easily plug in to a display when on the go without the need for a separate device. In addition, there’s also the dual screen support that allows you to work simultaneously on the smartphone’s display and on a connected monitor.
Connecting the Galaxy Note9 to a monitor will also allow you to utilize the device as a touch keyboard, a touch pad, or a surface for writing or drawing with the S Pen. The S Pen’s pressure-sensitive tip delivers a realistic and efficient writing experience when working on Samsung DeX, making it easy to, for instance, take notes on an interesting video that you’re watching on the monitor, or fine tune an image or illustration using your Galaxy Note9 and the Adobe software suite.

More Ways to Make Your Mark

Last year’s Galaxy Note8 introduced Live Message, a particularly fun feature that allows you to inject more emotion into messages by drawing your own emojis, making animated GIFs, and customizing photos with pen effects and handwritten notes.
The Galaxy Note9 expands Live Message’s expressive capabilities by integrating support for Samsung’s ever-emotive, user-resembling AR Emoji stickers. The S Pen adds new layers of fun to sharing AR Emoji stickers by allowing you to customize them with personalized messages, drawings and more effects, which may be shared via messaging apps.
And the fun doesn’t stop there, thanks to the new PENUP-powered Photo Drawing and Live Drawing features. The former adds a creative twist to the Gallery app, allowing you to draw over your own pics to create impressive works of art, while the latter offers video tutorials to help you fine-tune your artistic skills.
Screen off memo has also been made more dynamic, as the color of the pen’s markings now matches the color of the S pen itself—either yellow (for the Ocean Blue Galaxy Note9), light grey (for the Midnight Black model), lavender purple or metallic copper.

The Galaxy Note9’s S Pen is comfortable in the hand, measuring 106 millimeters in length and weighing in at 3.1 grams. Its 0.7-millimeter tip and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity provide impeccable precision, adding comfort and accuracy to note taking and drawing.
