Вопрос: В чём заключалась концепции фотосессии?
Стеффлон Дон – потрясающая певица и рэпер, она стильная и, к тому же, снимает много интересных видео. Идея заключалась в том, чтобы вернуть её в эпоху 80-х и создать контент, вдохновлённый культурой того времени. Вопрос: Каково было снимать только на Galaxy S21 Ultra?
По сути, Galaxy S21 Ultra создан, чтобы создавать контент. В поп-промо или коммерческих съёмках камеры обычно массивные. Но Galaxy S21 Ultra очень прост в использовании, и он позволяет быть ближе к объекту, делает съёмку более личной. Также он даёт возможность снимать абсолютно с любого ракурса.
Качество изображения во многом превзошло мои ожидания. Это самая профессиональная камера смартфона, которую я когда-либо использовал. Это означает, что вы можете выбрать лучший вариант одним касанием. То есть киностудия прямо у вас в руках.
Серия Galaxy S21 подойдёт для фотографов любого уровня. Я, как профессиональный фотограф и режиссёр, нашёл в смартфоне всё необходимое для создания видео и изображений. Но даже у тех, кто только начинает этот путь, кадры и фотографии будут выглядеть великолепно. Устройство действительно делает киноискусство доступнее.
Вопрос: Какие ещё функции Galaxy S21 Ultra вас удивили?
Качество видео 8K просто потрясающее. Но что было ещё более удивительным, так это 8K Snap – функция, которая позволяет создавать высококачественное фото по ходу записи видео в разрешении 8K. Во время фотосессии мы провели эксперимент, сравнили кадры, извлечённые из видео с фотографиями, сделанными на камеру. Мы не смогли отличить снимок из видео 8K от обычных фото.
Ещё меня впечатлила универсальность камеры. С режимом "Суперстабилизация" я мог, даже находясь в движении, получать действительно чёткие и качественные кадры. Гибкость и универсальность устройства определённо поможет мне найти лучшие творческие решения, а также вдохновляет меня на реализацию новых идей.
Вопрос: И в заключение беседы, какой совет вы можете дать людям, которые хотят заняться фотографией?

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd unveiled a gallery of content, shot entirely on the new Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, by renowned international photographer Rankin. The experience saw Samsung and Rankin collaborate with British rapper, singer and songwriter Stefflon Don, in a photoshoot that paid tribute to the iconic female trailblazers of the 80s – those who inspired musicians like Stefflon Don, transformed culture, and paved the way for a new generation of visionaries.
Combining the spirit of the 80s with the energy of today’s social media, Rankin and Stefflon Don have playfully re-imagined a timeless era with stills, videos, and content for Instagram and TikTok. The colours, style and aesthetic of the shoot, was transformed through the tight lens of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G.
A device that pushes the boundaries of what a smartphone can do, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G allowed Rankin and Stefflon Don to channel a new level of creativity and expression to share with audiences on social. Social media is driving a new artform, there is an entire generation of social media users interested in creating, engaging with and viewing experiences on their mobile devices. I was doing what I love, right on a smartphone – creating, shooting, editing and producing content fit for social, in a move that diversified my work beyond what I imagined was possible. I’m also really proud that we could honour the inspirational legends of the 80s, who freely expressed their individuality and continue to inspire today’s young generation.”

Using the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G’s advanced pro-grade camera and 8K Video Snap feature, Rankin was easily able to grab high-res photos from 8K video footage, so every vivid detail at the shoot was captured in a gallery of stills and videos to be easily shared on social channels. The new Director’s View let Rankin see, switch, and select the best shot to fully embody the 80s look and feel. He was able to capture video with the front and rear cameras at once for real-time reactions with Vlogger View, and preview or change the angle, zoom or go wide on muse, Stefflon Don without losing any action with Live Thumbnails. Plus, the 100x Space Zoom feature allowed for some playful, closer, and steadier shots throughout the photoshoot.

About Rankin
Rankin is a British photographer, publisher and film director. With a portfolio ranging from portraiture to documentary, he has shot The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner and The Queen to name only a few.
Rankin co-founded the seminal magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1992, and has since published the likes of AnOther and AnOther Man, alongside over 40 books and the biannual fashion, culture and lifestyle print and digital platform, Hunger.
His photography has been published everywhere from his own publications to Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone, and Wonderland, and exhibited in galleries around the world, including MoMA, New York, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
As a director, through the eponymous Rankin Film, he has created campaigns for the likes of Nike, L’Oreal, Dove, Pantene, Diageo, Women’s Aid, and Comic Relief alongside music videos for, amongst others, Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora and Kelis. Fearless behind the lens, Rankin’s visuals have become ingrained in contemporary iconography.

About Stefflon Don
Stefflon Don – real name Stephanie Allen, is a critically acclaimed British rapper, singer and songwriter. Her ascent in the UK rap scene has taken the industry by storm, having had a top 10 in the UK charts and being featured on the Billboard charts, Steff has been on an upward trajectory ever since.
Born in Birmingham to Jamaican parents, she moved to the Netherlands at the age of 4 where she became fluent in Dutch and moved back to London age 14 to begin her journey into music in 2015 working alongside British rappers Lethal Bizzle and Sneakbo.
