Samsung избавился от своего оборонного подразделения, но дело его живёт: гаубицы K-9 Thunder пользуются большим спросом

Южная Корея становится одним из самых заметных игроков на рынке вооружений. Легендарные гаубицы K-9 Thunder, разработанные оборонным подразделением Samsung Techwin в середине 90-х, ныне поставляются нескольким станам-членам НАТО, а её лицензированные модификации также производят в Индии и Турции.
Как сообщают сегодня южнокорейские СМИ, вслед за Азией и Европой, ещё одним крупным заказчиком станет Австралия, которая заключила многомиллиардный контракт на поставки K-9.
По техническому оснащению и боевым параметрам K-9 считаются одними из лучших в мире. Военные аналитики прогнозируют, что после заключения контракта с Австралией, в этом сегменте вооружений Южная Корея становится лидером, обойдя конкурентов из Германии.
Напомним, что несколько лет назад конгломерат Samsung продал своё оборонное подразделение другому корейскому чеболю Hanwha, полностью переориентировавшись на мирную продукцию. Отраслевые инсайдеры говорят, что произошло это, скорее всего, по инициативе правительства страны, так как из-за наличия военного подразделения Samsung мог столкнуться с проблемами сбыта гражданской продукции на рынках некоторых стран, которые имеют трения с США и их союзниками. В то же время Hanwha сконцентрировалась на производстве военной, авиационной и космической техники, так что приобретение Samsung Techwin стало для неё вполне закономерным шагом.

S. Korea`s K-9 howitzer named preferred supplier for Australian procurement project

South Korea`s Hanwha Defense on Thursday was named a preferred supplier of K-9 self-propelled howitzers to Australian army as a part of a multibillion-dollar Australian Protected Mobile Fires project.
When finalized, Australia would be the third continent to be supplied with the Korean-made self-propelled howitzers following Asia and Europe.
The Australian government has chosen Hanwha Defense`s self-propelled howitzers K9 Thunder among the world`s top artillery brands, a Hanwha Defense official said, adding a final contract is expected to be signed next year through tiered procedures such as evaluation of proposal and price negotiation. Its Australian operation will submit a proposal for the final contract, the company said.
Shares of Hanwha Aerospace, the parent of Hanwha Defense, jumped 9.14 percent to finish at 29,250 won ($24.60) on Thursday. Other Hanwha companies like Hanwha Corp. closed strong.
Under the program worth around 1 trillion won ($960 million), the Australian Army plans to acquire 30 K-9 self-propelled howitzers and 15 K-10 armored ammunition resupply vehicles and other support systems.
The gun can fire a standard projectile for a maximum range of over 40km with a burst rate of fire of up to six rounds per minute.
Hanwha Defence Australia plans to establish an integrated, advanced manufacturing and sustainment facility similar to the facility already slated for production of the Redback IFV, should it be selected for next-stage LAND 400 Phase 3.
LAND 8116 Phase 2, announced in the 2020 Force Structure Plan, is anticipated to commence in the late 2020s, delivering additional Protected Mobile Fires capability, and LAND 8116 Phase 3 is anticipated to commence in the mid-2030s, delivering a mid-life upgrade that will provide an opportunity to incorporate emerging technologies.
Hanwha Defense, born from merging former defense unit of Samsung Group, has continued exports of the weapons to many countries in Asia and Europe since shipment to Turkey in 2001. Korea took the largest share in the global howitzer market between 2000 and 2017, beating rival brand Germany’s Pzh2000, according to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) data.

MWC 2018: Samsung показал защищённый смартфон для экстренных служб и армии

В рамках выставки MWC 2018, на стенде Samsung Mobile был показан смартфон, о котором не сообщалось на официальной презентации новинок техногиганта 25 февраля. Аппарат получил маркировку SM-G888. Это защищённое устройство, которое ещё ожидает своей очереди на премьеру.
Видео с кратким обзором смартфона появилось в блоге одного из гаджетоманоав на youtube. Новый защищенный девайс Samsung сразу напомнил экспертам о подобных проектах типа Galaxy S9 Active или Xcover 5. Однако SM-G888 отличается от предшественников тем, что вендор разрабатывал его специально для сотрудников экстренных служб и армии. Созданный на базе Galaxy S7 девайс отличается мощным противоударным корпусом (соответствие стандарту IP68), несколькими механическими кнопками, которые легко нащупать даже в полной темноте, а также усиленной тройной вспышкой, которая особенно пригодится в чрезвычайных ситуациях, например, при разборе завалов после землетрясения.   
По предварительной информации, смартфон получит 5,5-дюймовый дисплей 4Гб ОЗУ, а также встроенный носитель на 32Гб и сменный аккумулятор на 4500 мАч. Также стоит отметить опцию Push to Talk, которая позволит использовать смартфон в режиме рации и отдельную кнопку экстренного вызова.

Samsung SM-G888: especially strong smartphone for emergency services

At major trade fairs such as the Mobile World Congress, some devices are often overlooked. This also includes a Samsung device, which probably all media representatives have ignored. The device has the model number SM-G888.

The SM-G888 also has no marketing name, which is also because it is sold exclusively to very special customers. Samsung calls it PS-LTE Phone and the device is based on the Galaxy S7. They mentioned special target group authorities and emergency services. Samsung will sell it to police, fire department and also the military.
As mentioned, this is a Galaxy S7 trimmed on Rugged and that means it’s extra rugged.This, of course, includes protection to IP68 standard. This is also what many normal devices offer these days, but the PS-LTE Phone is said to be more durable than the traditional smartphone. Also not common is the big red button on the top, it can be used during emergencies. On the side, there is another not quite usual button, namely one for a walkie-talkie functionality. This also explains the name Samsung PS-LTE, because PS stands for public service, ie public service and thus this functionality can be implemented via the LTE network.
Also on the back is something special, namely a triple LED flash. This is intended to provide a lot of light in emergencies and other operations. In order for the device to last a long time, inside is a 4500 mAh battery, which is also interchangeable. It also has a 5.5-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
The SM-G888 buried – at least for the time being – the rumor about a foldable Samsung smartphone, which was allegedly developed under this device number. Samsung S9 and S9 Plus were the protagonists of the Mobile World Congress, but the South Korean producer seems to be already preparing to further expand the catalog by renewing the offer of rugged smartphones.
