MWC 2017: представлен новый планшет Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

На выставке MWC 2017, которая проходит в испанской Барселоне, состоялась официальная презентация планшета Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. Новое устройство поддерживает работу со стилусом S Pen, а в качестве аксессуаров к нему прилагается чехол-подставка и клавиатура с магнитным креплением на нижней грани корпуса.
Гаджет оснащён впечатляющим по качеству 9,7-дюймовым Super AMOLED дисплеем с разрешением 2048x1536 пикселей, 4-ядерным процессором Snapdragon 820 с рабочей частотой 2,15 ГГц, 4Гб оперативной и 32Гб физической памяти с поддержкой расширения через microSD-карты объёмом до 256Гб. Для повышения безопасности в домашнюю клавишу встроен сканер отпечатков пальцев.
Работает планшет под управлением операционной системы Android 7.0 Nougat. На тыльной панели размещена 13-Мп основная камера с автофокусом и вспышкой, спереди - 5-Мп сэлфи-камера. Ёмкость батареи составляет 6000 мАч, имеется поддержка технологии быстрой зарядки через разъём USB Type-C.
Из беспроводных подключений следует отметить наличие Wi-Fi (802.11ac), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS и ГЛОНАСС, опционально LTE.
Особое внимание было уделено звуковому тракту (в корпус встроено аж 4 динамика особой конструкции). Эту часть разрабатывал легендарный аудиобрэнд AKG, который входит в конгломерат Harman International, приобретёный Samsung в конце 2016 года.
Отныне флагманские модели смартфонов и планшетов семейства Galaxy будут оснащаться акустическими системами и наушниками (если таковые будут входить в комплект поставки) производства Harman/AKG.

A Signature Design

The Galaxy Tab S3’s minimal and refined design was achieved by affixing glossy, reinforced glass panels to an aluminum frame, resulting in a seamless aesthetic.
The tablet is available in a choice of either understated silver or black, to suit the refined tastes of modern millennials, and its soft-colored cover accessories, available in black, white and green, feature powdery matte finishing to complete the device’s stylish look.

Advanced Audio, Video and Gaming

Samsung optimized the Galaxy Tab S3’s entertainment features with a series of first-of-their-kind enhancements affecting everything from the device’s audio, video and gaming capabilities to its new and improved battery and cameras.
The tablet’s 9.7-inch, Super AMOLED screen, image-optimizing mDNle technology, speedy and efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM allow users to enjoy content in lifelike HDR, as well as 4K, wherever they go. The Galaxy Tab S3 also supports fast charging, and offers a stout 12 hours of video playback when fully charged. In addition, the device’s upgraded 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras ensure crisp and clear photos.
Of course, properly enjoying great video requires excellent sound, which is why the Galaxy Tab S3 features Quad Stereo-Sound Speakers. This is the first Samsung tablet to boast such a design, which places powerful speakers crafted by AKG by Harman in each corner of the device. The speakers’ ‘Auto Rotate Stereo’ function allows the tablet to redirect sound based on its orientation, creating a more accurate and consistent listening experience. Gaming on the tablet has been taken up a notch, thanks to a streamlined UX and the addition of a new Game Launcher. The latter features options to help users get more out of their gaming experience, allowing them to optimize their device’s battery to lengthen a gaming session, live broadcast their gaming, and turn off notifications with ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode so they can better focus on the action at hand.
To add even more fun, Samsung also included access to the Galaxy Game Pack. Worth over $400 in value and available in 40 games, including exhilarating titles built with the Galaxy Tab S3-supported, graphics-optimizing Vulkan API, the package offers users access to unique and exclusive in-game benefits that allow them to fully enjoy some of the world’s most popular games.

A Redefined S Pen

The Galaxy Tab S3 also features Samsung’s signature, battery-free S Pen, which places a powerful creativity and productivity tool in the palm of users’ hands.
The S Pen boasts a fine, 0.7mm tip and industry-leading sensitivity, recognizing 4,096 levels of pressure. Slide-proof and measuring just over 9mm thick, the S Pen provides a comfortable and stable grip that allows for a more natural handwriting experience overall.
Useful S Pen features include Screen-off Memos, Samsung Notes and Air Command. Samsung Notes consolidates the functions of four Samsung notetaking applications in one simple app, while Air Command provides convenient access to a wide array of tools such as Translate, Magnify, Glance and Smart Select, which now lets users create, save and share their own animated GIFs.
Users may also utilize the implement’s handy PDF Annotation function to get work done on the go, or unleash their creativity with artistic apps such as Recolor, ArtRage and Autodesk’s SketchBook Pro, as well as PEN.UP, a global art community for Galaxy users, and the music-creation app Soundcamp.

Convenient Connectivity

To help users stay consistently connected, the Galaxy Tab S3 includes support for Samsung Flow, an app that allows users to seamlessly transition activities across their devices, simplifies sharing content and syncing notifications between their smartphone and their Galaxy tablet or Windows 10 2-in-1 device, and even lets users unlock their tablet with a simple scan of their Galaxy device’s fingerprint sensor.
The tablet’s dedicated, Pogo pin-connected keyboard locks into place securely so users can get to work quickly, does not require charging, and features a streamlined layout that optimizes key spacing to promote accurate typing. USB Type-C compatibility, meanwhile, provides more convenient cable connections as well as much faster data transfers.
With a sleek and seamless aesthetic, optimized entertainment features, and more tools to stay connected and productive, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 offers users a tablet experience that’s both incredibly fun and efficient.

Южнокорейский техногигант анонсировал приложение Secure Folder, разработанное для дополнительной защиты персональных данных от несанкционированного доступа. В секретной папке можно хранить приложения, изображения или документы под защитой системы Samsung Knox, что поможет уберечь необходимый участок памяти от несанкционированного доступа и вредоносных атак. Также имеется поддержка копирования в секретную папку приложений с целью использования их с другими аккаунтами.
Аутентификация происходит по одному из предложенных методов – PIN-код, пароль, графический пароль, сканер отпечатка пальца. Есть возможность кастомизации и облачного резервного копирования (для удобного переноса данных с одного устройства на другое) через Samsung Account.
Secure Folder доступно для Galaxy S7 и Galaxy S7 edge в сочетании с Android Nougat. Сейчас вендор работает над расширением списка аппаратов, для которых будет доступна указанная опция (очевидно, это напрямую связано с обновлением до Nougat).

For Your Eyes Only: Secure Folder Now Available for Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge

On February 24, Samsung Electronics officially released a downloadable version of Secure Folder, a robust security solution that helps mobile users protect their valuable data and information.

Secure Folder leverages the defense-grade Samsung Knox security platform to create a private, encrypted space on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Apps and data moved to Secure Folder are sandboxed separately on the device and gain an additional layer of security and privacy, thus further protecting them from malicious attacks. Furthermore, users must use an authentication method such as PIN, pattern, passcode or biometric verification such as fingerprint authentication to access and manage Secure Folder.
Users may leverage this feature to store and encrypt personal and private content, such as apps, images and documents, and keep them hidden. They can also make copies of their favorite apps and easily access them via alternate profiles. Any notes, photos, contacts or browsing history within the apps stored in Secure Folder will remain separate from the same apps outside Secure Folder.
This is especially useful for those who want to ensure that banking information or apps that store large amounts of personal data stay private when lending out their phones to friends, family members or colleagues. With a simple design along with easy setup using a Samsung Account, Secure Folder is as convenient as it is secure. Sensitive data can easily be moved to Secure Folder by selecting Move to Secure Folder from native apps such as Gallery, My files, or Contacts, or by tapping Add files inside Secure Folder.
For additional privacy, users can also customize their Secure Folder by changing its name and icon. They can also hide the Secure Folder icon from their home screen altogether using Quick Panel.
Secure Folder also supports cloud-based backup and restore (BnR) to provide users with an easy way to migrate to a new device. Backup data in the Secure Folder is isolated from other general backup files. Therefore, backup data can only be restored through the Settings inside Secure Folder, and only by the original Samsung Account user.
Secure Folder is available for download from Galaxy Apps, and is compatible with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones supporting Android OS 7.0 or later versions. Samsung plans to extend support to additional devices soon.
