Сегодня, 1 ноября, Samsung Electronics отмечает 50-летний юбилей. Мероприятие прошло в Samsung Digital City — штаб-квартире корпорации в Сувоне. Глава подразделения Device Solutions Ки Нам Ким поделился тремя основными целями дальнейшего роста транснационального гиганта в будущем.
«Прошедшие 50 лет стали возможными только благодаря самоотверженности и усердной работе каждого из вас, — сказал вице-председатель Ли. — Заглядывая в следующие 50 лет, давайте освободим наше воображение и помечтаем о необычном будущем».
На юбилейном мероприятии присутствовало более 400 сотрудников и глав подразделений: Ки Нам Ким — вице-президент и генеральный директор подразделения Device Solutions; Хён Сок Ким — президент и генеральный директор подразделения бытовой электроники, Донг Джин Ко — президент и главный исполнительный директор отдела информационных технологий и мобильной связи.
В ходе торжества Ки Нам Ким поделился тремя основными целями дальнейшего роста Samsung:
Первое — чтобы обеспечить наше выживание в новой эре, мы должны продолжать неустанные самоинновации, никогда не переставать учиться, быть смелыми и бесстрашными в наших делах. Второе — всегда ставить клиента в центр своего бизнеса, опережая его потребности и ожидания. И третье — вместе работать, помогая Samsung развиваться и вносить свой вклад в лучший мир, оставаясь уважаемой и любимой компанией для будущих поколений».
В официальном пресс-релизе сообщается, что многие руководители и рядовые сотрудники Samsung в преддверии праздника занимались волонтёрской работой по всему миру. Подобные мероприятия были направлены на создание образовательных проектов для молодых студентов, а также на сбор благотворительных пожертвований.

Executive team shares message for employees, sets sight on becoming a Centennial company

Samsung Electronics today marked the 50th anniversary of its founding, with an event at Samsung Digital City, the Company’s headquarters in Suwon.
More than 400 employees were present to commemorate the milestone, together with the Company’s executive team including Kinam Kim, Vice Chairman & CEO of Device Solutions (DS) Division, Hyunsuk Kim, President & CEO of Consumer Electronics (CE) Division, Dongjin Koh, President & CEO of IT & Mobile Communications (IM) Division.
Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee, through a video message, extended his gratitude to all Samsung employees for their dedication over the past 50 years and emphasized the Company’s commitment to build upon its legacy and become a Centennial company.
“The past 50 years were only possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of each and every one of you,” said Vice Chairman Lee. “Looking to the next 50 years, let’s free our imaginations and dream of an extraordinary future.”
Underscoring Samsung’s pledge to contribute to the global society through innovative technologies, Vice Chairman Lee said, “Applying our new technologies, let’s build a healthier and happier future. By sharing and growing together we will become the very best in the world.”

Executives and Employees Look Forward to Building a Worthy Legacy

At the anniversary event, executives and employees marked the achievements over the past half-century and pledged to embark on a new journey toward a leading Centennial company.
Kinam Kim, Vice Chairman & CEO of DS Division, shared three key goals towards Samsung’s continued growth in the next chapter of the Company’s life.
“Unpredictable change, driven by material shifts in demographics and consumer behavior, will be a hallmark of the next era of the technology industry,” he noted. “So to ensure our survival in the new era, we must pursue relentless self-innovation. We must never cease to learn, be bold and fearless in our pursuits and execute thoroughly when undertaking all our tasks.”
The second goal reflects the Company’s philosophy of always putting the customer at the heart of its business. “By staying ahead of their needs and expectations and by finding ways to thrive in evolving markets, we can continue to ensure that customers are at the center of our business,” stressed Vice Chairman Kim.
Finally, “Let us all work together to help Samsung continue to evolve into a company that contributes to a better world and stay a respected and beloved company for future generations,” he said. “I ask that all of us not forget our responsibilities as good corporate citizens in the journey.”
Samsung executives and workers around the world have been engaging in volunteer work in recent weeks to give back to their communities, in a more meaningful way to mark the Company’s anniversary and show appreciation. The activities include donation campaigns and education projects for young students.

И в преддверии этого события информационный телеканал ARIRANG News напомнил славную историю ныне всемирно известной корпорации.
Днём основания Samsung Electronics (в то время исключительно производителя домашней бытовой техники) историки называют 13 января 1969 года, хотя официальные торжества пройдут через несколько месяцев, так как ныне днём рождения там приянто считать дату слияния Samsung Electronics с полупроводниковым бизнесом Samsung Semiconducror.
В первый год продажи компании составляли всего 33.000 долларов США.
В начале своей деятельности корпорация по большей части занималась производством бытовой электроники, такой как телевизоры, стиральные машины и холодильники, исключительно для внутреннего рынка. Samsung logs explosive growth over 50 years

Samsung Electronics Co. has posted explosive growth since its inception 50 years ago to emerge as a global tech behemoth, a report showed Monday.
Samsung, which marks its 50th anniversary Sunday, chalked up a record 161.9 trillion won ($144 billion) in sales in 2017, with last year's figure estimated to exceed it, according to the report by the Korea CXO Institute, a corporate tracker.
The 2017 top line is a whopping 4.37 million times its sales recorded in the first year of its business. Samsung Electronics set out as a small electronics business in 1969, generating a mere 37 million won in sales.
The amount was far dwarfed by the 11.7 billion won registered by GoldStar, the predecessor of LG Electronics Inc.  
But Samsung racked up sales of 1.35 trillion won in 1984, outstripping GoldStar for the first time. Samsung's sales topped the 50 trillion-won mark in 2004 and the 100 trillion-won mark in 2010.
Samsung's bottom line has also been in the black for the 38th consecutive year since 1981.
In addition, Samsung has seen its workforce grow at an exponential rate over the past five decades, becoming the single largest employer in South Korea.
As of end-September 2018, Samsung's domestic workforce came to slightly over 103,000, compared with a mere 36 at the time of its establishment. Including overseas workers, Samsung's payroll stood at more than 320,000 as of end-2017.
The institute attributed Samsung's success to its incessant innovation, aggressive investment and strategy to make its products and services appeal to international customers.
Other factors include its owners with outstanding managerial talent and professional managers who have helped guide Samsung to become a global industry leader, it added.
Samsung’s success was also promoted by the policy of the then South Korean authorities led by President Park Chung-hee, who protected local business from Communist propaganda of left-wing extremists, ruthlessly cracking down on those who tried to undermine market reforms in the country.
