В рамках международной выставки компьютерных игр gamescom 2019 в Кёльне (Германия), помимо презентации новейших продуктов (в первую очередь игровых мониторов), Samsung провёл опрос, результаты которого подтвердили предполагаемый социальный компонент феномена компьютерных игр: наибольшей популярностью пользуются сетевые игры — как многопользовательские коллективные, так и турнирные.
Многие рассматривают стриминг (возможность запуска игр в браузере) в качестве одной из привлекательных альтернатив для классической дистрибюции игр. При этом 42% опрошенных предпочитают многопользовательские игры, а 34% играют как в многопользовательские, так и в одиночные. Около 80% утверждают, что любят сетевые игры или, как минимум, распределяют игровое время поровну – на игры онлайн и офлайн.
Несмотря на рост популярности мобильных игр среди населения в целом, у энтузиастов компьютерных игр, пришедших на выставку Gamescom, предпочтения оказались иные: здесь наиболее востребованными игровыми платформами по-прежнему остаются PC (для 57% респондентов) и игровые консоли, такие как PlayStation и Xbox (для 35% респондентов).
На вопрос о том, знакомы ли они с сетями 5G, положительно ответили 88% опрошенных посетителей. Тем не менее, геймеры по-прежнему считают, что влияние этих технологий на игры при текущем распространении остаётся низким. По мнению 27% опрошенных, эти технологии найдут применение в стриминговых сервисах и при передаче контента, а 23% ожидают от них улучшения производительности многопользовательских игр.
Каждый четвёртый заявил о готовности использовать стриминговые технологии для запуска игр вместо их приобретения в виде цифровых продуктов или в осязаемой форме (на дисках). Почти каждый второй рассматривает стриминг в качестве дополнительной опции к традиционным способам покупки.

Самая высокая готовность к расходам среди геймеров

Опрос проводился по заказу Samsung среди 417 посетителей выставки Gamescom 21 августа 2019 года. Портрет среднестатистического посетителя выставки выглядит следующим образом: это молодой человек в возрасте 18-24 лет с геймерским стажем более 10 лет[1], который проводит за компьютерными играми от 2-х до 4-х часов в день. Кроме того, большинство опрошенных готовы тратить на своё хобби значительные деньги: 48% респондентов покупают оборудование для игр на сумму от 100 до 500 евро в год, а для 17% расходы на оборудование составляют от 500 до 1000 евро. Сохраняющаяся популярность классических игровых устройств, таких как консоли и ПК, также отражается в планируемых покупках: в течение следующих 6-ти месяцев почти 16% посетителей Gamescom планируют приобрести новый монитор, около 10% хотят инвестировать в телевизор и 12% – намерены купить карту памяти или твердотельный накопитель. Аналогичная картина складывается в расходах на игры: почти половина всех респондентов ежегодно тратят на игры от 100 до 300 евро, и 17% – от 300 до 500 евро в год.
