Samsung unveiled its latest products at Display Week 2021 online (video broadcast)

Samsung Display unveiled its latest innovations at the leading global trade show last Friday. Hosted by the Society for Information Display (SID), the annual Display Week event took place online this time due to ongoing quarantine restrictions due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Samsung Display Co., один из крупнейших мировых производителей панелей отображения, в минувшую пятницу представил свои последние инновации на главной мировой выставке дисплейной продукции.

Ежегодное мероприятие Display Week, которое проводит Society for Information Display (SID), на этот раз прошло в онлайн-формате из-за продолжающихся карантинных ограничений в связи со вспышкой COVID-19.

Подразделение Samsung Display, ведущий производитель экранов для мобильных устройств, среди прочего, показал 7,2-дюймовый дисплей с возможностью складывания нескольких элементов. Такое решение позволяет использовать мобильное устройство как смартфон, когда он сложен вдвое, и как планшет, когда он полностью раскрыт.

По предварительным данным, такие OLED-панели получили рабочее название «S-foldable» и будут использоваться в будущих моделях смартфонов Samsung Electronics Co.

Дисплейное подразделение конгломерата Samsung также продемонстрировало 17-дюймовый складной экран с соотношением сторон 4:3. В соответствии с концепцией «нести меньше, видеть больше», в сложенном состоянии он выглядит как планшет, но в развёрнутом виде обеспечивает экран, подобный компьютерному монитору.

Samsung Display также показал технологию создания экранов со спрятанной под ним камерой, которая в режиме просмотра контента абсолютно невидима. Кроме того, был представлен выдвижной дисплей, который растягивается в одном из направлений, увеличивая полезную площадь экрана.

Samsung представит первый в мире "растягивающийся" дисплей на выставке SID 2017

Подразделение Samsung Display Co. сегодня распространило заявление, что представит на этой неделе первый в мире "растягивающийся" (эластичный) дисплей в рамках специализированной ярмарки технологий, которая откроется в США.
Южнокорейская компания отмечает, что эластичный OLED-дисплей уникален, поскольку может изгибаться в обоих направлениях, в то время как предыдущие поколения таких изделий допускали изгиб лишь в одну сторону.
Новейший дисплей от Samsung будет представлен на выставке SID 2017, которую ежегодно проводит Общество средств отображения информации (Society for Information Display - SID). Нынешний форум SID пройдёт со вторника по четверг в Лос-Анджелесе (Калифорния).
Специалисты говорят, что эластичный дисплей требует более сложной технологии производства, чем любые другие дисплеи, доступные на рынке, но их можно считать пиковым продуктом отрасли.
Samsung Display заявляет, что её новая разработка допускает деформацию на 12 миллиметров при давлении на любую часть поверхности экрана, сохраняя при этом высокую степень разрешения.
Компания планирует показать 9,1-дюймовый образец эластичной OLED-панели и уточняет, что подобные экраны  планируется широко использовать в IoT-устройствах (интернет вещей) со встроенным искусственным интеллектом.      

Samsung to showcase world's first 'stretchable' display

Samsung Display Co. said Monday it will showcase the world's first "stretchable" panel during a U.S. tech fair slated for this week, which is expected to open a new era for the industry.
The South Korean company said the stretchable OLED display is unique since it can bend in both directions, while previous flexible panels could only bend in one direction.
The display will be showcased at the SID 2017 hosted by the Society for Information Display, which will run from Tuesday to Thursday in Los Angeles.
Industry watchers said the stretchable display calls for more complicated technology than any other displays in the market, and can be considered the ultimate product in flexible technology.
The company said its display can stretch as much as 12 millimeters when pressed, and yet still maintains a high degree of resolution.
Samsung Display plans to showcased 9.1-inch versions of the stretchable OLED display. The product is expected to be widely used on devices that adopt the Internet of Things or artificial intelligence technologies.

Samsung Display и LG Display присуждены награды SID (Society for Information Display) "Дисплей года" в знак признания их лидерства в области создания передовых технологий отображения, сообщает портал ETnews.
Очередное мероприятие SID (Общество призводителей информационных дисплеев) пройдёт в Лос-Анджелесе (США) в Convention Center с 21 по 26 мая.
SID отбирает продукты с наиболее продвинутыми характеристиками и техническим исполнением за прошедший год в трёх категориях: лучший дисплей для мобильных устройств, лучший телевизионный дисплей и дисплей для профессионального применения.
Подразделение Samsung Display получило награду за создание гибких OLED-экранов с выдающимися параметрами, применяемых во флагманских смартфонах. Эта технология впервые позволила создавать мобильные трубки с новыми форм-факторами, где изогнутые грани не только подчёркивают эстетический блеск этих изделий, но и улучшают эргономику, что отражается на удобстве использования гаджетов.
"Samsung Display предоставил рынку мобильных устройств дифференцированную линейку высокотехнологичных гибких OLED-продуктов. Мы очень рады, что продолжаем оставаться лидером на рынке quad-edge flexible OLED-дисплеев и способны удовлетворять запросы лидеров индустрии", - сказал Чжон Сэк-джин, руководитель отдела маркетинга Samsung Display.
Соотечественники из LG Display также были отмечены наградой SID за создание сверхтонкой гибкой OLED-панели для 65-дюймового UHD-телевизора, который можно прикреплять к стене подобно обоям. Аппарат уже был обласкан целым рядом престижных международных наград и влиятельных отраслевых изданий.

Samsung Display and LG Display Awarded ‘This Year’s Award’ from Society for Information Display

Samsung Display and LG Display are awarded for ‘This Year’s Display Award’ from SID (Society for Information Display) 2017 and are recognized for their leadership in technologies.
SID 2017 is going to be held at Los Angeles Convention Center from the 21st until the 26th.
SID selects products with excellent results and technical skills out of products that were released in previous year from three fields of display, display application, and display part and holds Display Industry Awards.
Samsung Display is awarded this year’s display award with its quad-edge flexible OLED for Smartphones and it was recognized for its technical skill that has implemented all sides of a display as curved type.
Samsung Display’s quad-edge flexible OLED has ends of the top and the bottom of a panel finely bent in 25R (radius, 25mm radius of curvature) and displays gradual curves at the top and the bottom of a screen. It also applied four different curves to the left and the right edges so that it provides aesthetic impression and feeling of convenient grip when a Smartphone is held. Level of curve becomes steeper as value of R becomes smaller and Samsung Display finely applied different curvature in an order of 35R, 9.4R, 5.4R, and 3.8R from the center of a panel to the end.
Quad-edge OLED panel has reduced black matrix (BM), which is a non-operative area, from edges of a screen to a point where one might think that there is no bezel. Major technology of quad-edge OLED panel eliminates interference that occurs from reduction of gap between circuits which needs to be done in order to reduce BM area. Samsung Display has reduced bezel 0.2mm more than previous product through its technology that increases resolution of a display while it minimizes BM area.

LG Display is awarded this year’s display award with 65-inch UHD wallpaper OLED TV panel. Thickness of this product is not even 1mm and it has level of immersion in viewing and high effects on design as it can be attached to wall like a frame due to its thickness of 3.55mm and weight of 7.4kg when it is manufactured as part of a TV.
Wallpaper TV panel implements excellent quality through OLED technology and is seen as an innovative product that presents new possibilities for displays from aspects of applications and design.
Including the best innovative award at CES 2017, it was awarded from many global influential media such as Engadget. It once again proved its overwhelming technical skill as it is selected as a best display at SID 2017.
