Ради выдающихся характеристик камеры Samsung лишил Galaxy S11+ изящного дизайна задней панели

Дата релиза очередной серии флагманских моделей Galaxy S11 всё ближе, поэтому в Сети уже появилось большое количество утечек касательно характеристик и дизайна этих аппаратов.
Как мы уже сообщали ранее, семейство Galaxy S11 (особенно его старшая версия S11+) получат модуль основных камер с выдающимся параметрами благодаря применению новейших высокочувствительных сенсоров с ультравысоким разрешением, которые были разработаны в подразделении Samsung System LSI.
Любопытно, что такие фотомодули уже устанавливаются в последние флагманские аппараты китайской Xiaomi, хотя некоторые инсайдеры утверждают, что к моменту выхода Galaxy S11 инженеры южнокорейского техногиганта улучшат и без того отличные характеристики указанных моделей. Аппаратам прочат наличие гибридного зума (оптический + электронный), который затмит по своим возможностям всё, что Samsung выпускал когда-либо ранее, самых мощных процессоров Exynos 990 и Snapdragon 865, способных обеспечить съёмку в формате 8K с частотой 30 кадров в секунду, а также системы интеллектуальной обработки изображения для обеспечения максимально возможного качества каждого отснятого кадра.
Чтобы осуществить очередной прорыв в мобильной фото/видеосъёмке, Samsung пришлось пойти на некоторые компромиссы в плане дизайна, поскольку комплект сенсоров основной камеры имеет внушительный объём. Это вызвало приступ гнева у части интернет-аудитории, которая назвала фотомодуль "уродливым набалдашником а-ля Apple iPhpne 11" и предательстве принципов дизайна "классических" Galaxy.
Впрочем, недовольные обнаруживаются с выходом каждой новой модели, поскольку угодить всем и сразу просто невозможно. Мы, со своей стороны, уверены, что если слухи подтвердятся и Galaxy S11+ получит камеру с действительно рекордными характеристиками, то многие любители качественной съёмки закроют глаза на некоторые изъяны в дизайне. И здесь не стоит говорить, что, мол, если хочешь получить красивую картинку, покупай большую системную камеру. Абсолютное большинство людей уже просто не желает обременять себя огромной "тушкой" привычного фотоаппарата (да ещё с набором дополнительной оптики), особенно в длительных туристических поездках. И это подтверждают ежегодные данные о необратимом падении продаж цифровых фотокамер, в том числе профессиональных.
Дошло до того, что целый ряд известных режиссёров уже экспериментирует со съёмкой на мобильные камеры и не стесняется представлять свои работы на самых престижных мировых кинофорумах. Например, такие картины были продемонстрированы даже на престижном Каннском фестивале 2019 года.
Классик французского кинематографа Клод Лелуш целиком снял свой фильм "Лучшие годы жизни" (фактическое продолжение шедевра 60-х "Мужчина и женщина") на iPhone. Причём мэтр был весьма доволен полученным результатом, заявив в интервью, что сверхкомпактные камеры позволяют снимать там, где раньше это было просто невозможно. "Теперь не надо городить дорогостоящую конструкцию для большой и тяжёлой кинокамеры, чтобы снять диалог героев фильма в движущемся автомобиле. Достаточно закрепить смартфон на компактном демпфирующем устройстве внутри кабины и качественно отснять задуманную сцену", - говорит режиссёр.
Всё это говорит о том, что качество мобильных камер достигло такого уровня, что практически любой желающий попробовать себя на кинематографическом поприще теперь имеет шанс прославиться и не выглядеть "любителем-лузером", когда дело касается изображения.
Фотомодуль Galaxy S11 должен поднять планку совершенства мобильной съёмки на другой уровень, открывая новые возможности для каждого владельца таких аппаратов в плане творческой реализации.
Анонс новых флагманов южнокорейского техногиганта ожидается в конце февраля 2020 года.

For the sake of the sensational camera features, Samsung has stripped the Galaxy S11+ of its sleek rear panel design

The Samsung S11+ leaks, which was released by Steve Hemmerstoffer via Twitter @Onleaks, looks to rival what other companies have been using to innovate its smartphones this year, with excessively big rear cameras. The leaked images show that it has five lenses, two more than the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max and more than double the amount that Google's Pixel 4 XL has. The camera specs haven't been disclosed, though there have been murmurs that it'll have 5x optical zoom with a 108 megapixel lens, a telephoto and ultra-wide lens and a time-of-flight sensor. The proposed S11+ also looks strikingly similar to its Note 10+, having its 'Infinity-O' hole-punch front camera in the top-middle instead of the top-right.
Samsung's next flagship phone will also supposedly have a 6.9-inch 120Hz touch display with a length and width of 166.9 x 76 x 8mm, making it bigger in all areas than its predecessor. Like Samsung's Note 10+, these leaks show that the S11+ will also have its headphone jack removed. It was quite an interesting move, especially when the company took jabs at Apple not too long ago for removing this feature from all its smartphones. And now on top of that it's taking Apple's meme-worthy number of cameras and adding more.
This may show a different approach that Samsung may be taking into the new decade. Samsung has often experimented with different designs, whether it's with the hole-punched front camera or the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, Samsung looks to be doing the reverse of what Apple has been known for, refining smartphones rather than reinventing the wheel. For example, Apple was panned by the South Korean tech company for removing the headphone jack, yet it followed suit this year with the Note 10+. If this leak turns out to be true, Samsung has now also followed Apple's approach of having huge powerful camera lenses at the back of its devices. However, it might be the case that Samsung will be more innovative in its software instead.
The Galaxy S11+ may be revealed early next year, during Samsung's annual event in February.

Информация о том, что китайская Huawei спешит представить складной смартфон с гибким дисплеем на февральской выставке MWC 2018 в Барселоне (Испания), судя по всему, скорректировала планы Samsung относительно презентации собственной линейки флагманских продуктов, которые южнокорейская корпорация хотела бы выделить особо, учитывая двойную юбилейную дату - 50-летие со дня своего основания и 10-летие с момента выхода первого смартфона легендарной линейки Galaxy.
Понимая особую важность события и стремление удержать лидерские позиции на рынке мобильных устройств, руководство Samsung приняло решение провести отдельное ото всех мероприятие Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 в калифорнийском городе  Сан-Франциско (США), где находится одно из основных подразделений техногиганта, а также представительства главных IT-партнёров (и одновременно конкурентов) в лице Google, Apple и т.д.
После скандального происшествия, связанного с кражей технологий производства гибких дисплеев китайским конкурентами (полиция Южной Кореи подозревает в этом компании BOE, Huawei и несколько других), что позволило жуликам из Поднебесной вплотную подобраться к лидерам отрасли, в Samsung решили, что затягивать с представлением новинок уже не имеет смысла.
Профильные СМИ полагают, что помимо юбилейной серии Galaxy S10, на Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 будет представлен и складной смартфон с гибким дисплеем, над которым в Samsung трудились долгие годы, вложив в разработки сотни миллионов долларов.

На официальном новостном сайте Samsung опубликован материал о том, как вендору удалось реализовать возможность съёмки видео с частотой 960 кадров в секунду в новых флагманских смартфонах Galaxy S9/S9+. Для этого южнокорейскому электронному гиганту предстояло решить проблему с ограничением скорости съёмки мобильных камер.
Главная трудность, которую надо было преодолеть инженерам, заключалась в том, что современные CMOS-датчики захватывают свет последовательно, а это приводит к искажениям при съёмке с большой частотой кадров. Поэтому корпорация занялась разработкой модуля, способного сканировать изображение быстро и без каких-либо дефектов.
Разработчикам Samsung надо было создать CMOS-сенсор, который должен работать в 4 раза быстрее своего предшественника, но при этом не терял в качестве съёмки. Решение нашлось в применении трёхслойной структуры датчика, в состав которого входит непосредственно CMOS-сенсор, плата для считывания информации с матрицы и специальный чип DRAM-памяти. Именно наличие последнего позволяет молниеносно записывать данные с сенсора для съёмки видео с частотой 960 кадров в секунду.
В результате новейшие флагманы Galaxy S9/S9+ получили опцию записи видео с 32-кратным замедлением. Момент длительностью всего 0,2 секунды, таким образом, растягивается примерно до 6 секунд. При этом специальная интеллектуальная система самостоятельно выбирает наиболее подходящий промежуток действия, который подлежит эффектному замедлению.

But building these camera features required some incredible feats of engineering. Just how did we create this next-level magic? Let our product creators tell you with notes right from their lab.

01. The Problem

The image sensors we had been using up until the Galaxy Note8 were fantastic and provided us with a great framework to continue to break barriers. Unlike older charge-coupled device (CCD) image sensors, modern complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors – like those in our latest phones – expose the image sequentially, leading to distortion. Even though we had been able to improveautofocus and make brighter lenses, we wanted to push the boundaries of our camera sensors to deliver a truly unique user experience.

02. The Goal

When we started designing the Galaxy S9/S9+ camera, we wanted to create something that would, not only improve the overall image sensor, but deliver an entirely new experience. Our ultimate goal was to create a CMOS sensor that would be fast enough to reduce the distortion problems, counter camera shake, and give users the power to explore completely new features.

03. The Idea

What if we could give our users the ability to slow down time? That was the seed that started the design of the Galaxy S9/S9+ camera. If we could make a fast enough sensor, we’d be able to record footage at incredibly fast frame rates that could be slowed down to give users the ability to capture incredible action or extend a funny moment. The Super Slow-mo feature was born, and we set out to figure out how we could engineer a sensor with the necessary power.

04. The Solution

The most difficult part of increasing the frame rate was the sensor technology. The image sensor needed to be four times faster  than previous models, and the circuits and pixel technology had to be better. To handle the high frame rates, more bandwidth was also needed for the speed of both the image sensor outputs and the video processing of the Application Processor. Our answer to that problem was a three-layer stack image sensor that includes the CMOS image sensor  itself, a fast readout circuit, and a dedicated DRAM memory chip – the secret sauce for making buttery-smooth, Super Slow-mo videos andincredible low light performance.

05. The Result

The Galaxy S9/S9+’s camera is truly like no other. Able to record at 960fps, it’s 32x slower than normal video. When using Super Slow-mo, the camera captures 0.2 seconds of action and stretches it out to approximately 6 seconds to produce a final GIF file that typically ranges from 3-15MBs. The standout feature is that the sensor automatically detects movement and captures it as it’s happening, so there is no need to worry about manual settings. Users can select either a Single-take with one Super Slow-mo capture or do a Multi-take with up to 20 Super Slow-mo segments.

На основе пока ещё скупых информационных утечек специалисты DBS Designed попытались создать 3D-модель будущего флагмана Samsung Galaxy Note9.
Дизайнеры исходят из того, что инженерам Samsung удастся реализовать идею размещения сканера отпечатков пальцев под дисплеем, а блок сэлфи-камеры и сканера лица уменьшить, поэтому полезная площадь экрана должна заметно увеличиться по сравнению с предыдущими топ-моделями Note8 и S9/S9+.  
В соответствии с представлениями команды DBS Designed, Galaxy Note9 должен получить менее "обтекаемую" форму с небольшими закруглениями по углам, при том, что все 4 верхние боковые грани будут немного изогнуты. Соотношение сторон также отклоняется от формата предшественника, поскольку Note9 выглядит шире и немного короче, по крайней мере, в представленной концепции.
Изменения коснулись и формы стилуса, которым оснащаются все модели серии Note. Теперь "электронный карандаш" приобретёт не только изменённую форму, но и различные цветовые решения.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Is the Next Galaxy, With Colorful Stylus (concept)

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has leaked like crazy over the past week, with speculations saying it may debut as soon as June. Today we’ve found a new render of the device, done by DBS Designing Team, who envisioned a “whole new Galaxy”. Let’s check it out.
I feel that this Note 9 concept is a bit of a return to roots, since it seems a bit more squared and angular than before. and that happens in spite of the curved glass panel at the front and back. The stylus is now colorful and it has extra levels of sensitivity. Compared to the Note 8, this newcomer is wider and it seems a bit shorter. “Stocky” is the word that comes to mind.
There’s a QHD+ Super AMOLED Screen on board, with almost zero bezel. I see that somehow the designers placed the sensors and the necessary components upfront below the glass. The fingerprint scanner gets the same treatment, also embedded in the screen. This is a waterproof smartphone, with Android P, 8 GB of RAM and a 6.3 inch diagonal. A good piece of news is that the smartphone is slimmer, after the Galaxy S9 bummed out some people with the 8.5 mm waistline.
The stylus seems bigger and thicker, more massive and probably better specced. I can’t even predict its features, so go ahead in the comments. I love the blue version of this Samsung Galaxy Note 9 concept, a new “baby blue” hue that actually fits the business casual approach.
Samsung is purportedly working on an all-new entry into its Galaxy Note range, and new concept images have revealed what the next-generation flagship could look like.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to launch this summer.
The next entry into the best-selling Galaxy Note series is tipped to boost an improved dual-camera system, new stylus functionality for the S Pen, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The latter was originally tipped to launch with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, but was purportedly pushed-back because the technology was not ready.
Samsung is tipped to launch its Galaxy Note 9 before Apple holds its annual iPhone launch event, which usually falls in early September.
Ahead of the Galaxy Note 9 announcement, graphic designer Muhsin M. Belaal Auckburaully, known by the moniker DBS Designing on YouTube, has dreamt-up a possible design for the new flagship.
And it looks astonishingly good.
In Auckburaully’s Galaxy Note 9 concept, the productivity-focused phablet will sport an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
As a result, the back of the smartphone is much cleaner and less cluttered than the current-generation Galaxy Note 8.
Despite using the same dual-curved Infinity Display design as the Galaxy S series, Galaxy Note handsets typically feature much less rounded corners, so the stylus can be used on more screen real-estate.
This is true in the latest detailed concept images from Muhsin M. Belaal Auckburaully.
Previous whispers about the Galaxy Note 9 suggest it will include Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 6GB of RAM.
It will purportedly be powered by Android 8.1, the latest version of the Google operating system.

Samsung Electronics Officially Launches Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in markets around the world. The company’s latest flagship smartphones will be available in stores today, March 16, in approximately 70 countries, including Korea, the U.S., Canada, China and all of Europe, and will roll out to over 110 markets by the end of the month.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ introduce an array of innovative features to the Galaxy series, unveiling exciting new ways for users to capture and share special moments, express themselves, and interact with the world around them.
The devices’ redesigned cameras feature a Dual Aperture lens that adapts to its environment to snap stunning shots in any light; an innovative Super Slow-mo video function, which allows users to capture everyday moments in epic detail; and new, customizable AR Emojis. Влиятельный американский журнал TIME опубликовал довольно подробную статью, где поясняется, почему редакционный эксперт поставил новейший флагман Samsung выше его главного конкурента - Apple iPhone X.
В частности, перечислены 5 позиций, по которым, согласно мнению редакции TIME, южнокорейский аппарат превосходит американский:

1) Функция "Всегда на экране" (Always on Display), которая позволяет выводить на "спящий" смартфон оперативную информацию о погоде, входящих сообщениях, времени и т.д. Это заменяет универсальные электронные часы, которые обычно стоят у кровати. Подобной опции в iPhone X просто не существует.

2) Большая гибкость. В отличие от iPhone X, Galaxy S9 может спокойно работать с проводными наушниками, которые многие предпочитают быстроразряжающимся Bluetooth-гарнитурам. Наличие сканера отпечатков пальцев в Galaxy S9 автр обзора приветствует, а вот продукт от Apple критикует за отсутствие такового. Также огромным плюсом S9 является возможность использования двух SIM-карт и установки дополнительной карты памяти (что особенно важно для тех, кто снимает много видео в формате 4K).

3) Высокочувствительная камера с двойной механической апертурой. Если в условиях дневного освещения качество флагманских камер Samsung и iPhone ещё можно как-то сравнивать (субъективное менеие о том, что в дневных фото у iPhone наличиствуют "более реалистичные цвета", что противоречит тестам независимых экспертных групп, оставим на совести обозревателя TIME), то в тёмных помещениях аппарат южнокорейского техногиганта на голову превосходит соперника из Купертино.

4) Изогнутый OLED-дисплей, который позволил сделать Galaxy S9 гораздо эстетичнее, а кроме того, он создаёт иллюзию "безграничного экрана", лишённого боковых рамок.

5) Мультизадачность. Samsung, как и многие другие смартфоны на Android, уже давно предлагает работу с массой открытых приложений. Это очень удобно, поскольку вам не придётся каждый раз открывать/закрывать часто используемые приложения. Apple пытается догнать конкурирующую платформу, но пока не слишком успешно.

От себя добавим: редактор TIME Magazine забыл упомянуть, что платёжный сервис Samsung Pay, встроенный во многие смартфоны южнокорейского вендора, также на голову превосходит Apple Pay, позволяя расплачиваться почти где угодно (поскольку комбинированный модуль MST/NFC поддерживает даже старые терминалы, работающие только с магнитными карточками). Владельцы Apple iPhone такой возможности лишены.
Адаптер DeX Pad позволяет превратить Samsung Galaxy S9 в полноценный стационарный компьютер, работающий на базе Linux. Таких возможностей не предусмотрено ни в одной модели от Apple.

TIME Magazine: 5 Things About the Samsung Galaxy S9 I Like Better Than Apple's iPhone X

Samsung’s latest pair of iPhone rivals, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, hit stores on March 16. And this year it’s all about the camera: Samsung’s new phones have a mechanical dual aperture that can adjust depending on the lighting and a new Super Slo-mo feature that automatically creates GIFs from your footage.
But it’s not just about what’s new. If you’re switching from an Apple iPhone, there are plenty of more subtle features that have existed on Samsung phones and other Android devices for years that may be worth paying attention to.
After spending more than a week using the Galaxy S9+ instead of the iPhone X, here are five features that stood out to me that Apple’s smartphone is missing.

Always-on display

The screen on Samsung’s smartphones can show information like the time, date, battery level, and notification icons even when the display is turned off — essentially allowing them to double as a bedside clock. I loved being able to just glance over at my phone without picking it up to check whether or not I had any new text messages or to see if I should plug in my phone before leaving the office.
The Galaxy S9 feature was particularly helpful coming from the iPhone X, which I usually have to pick up to unlock since it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. Previous Samsung phone models, such as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S7, as well as other Android phones like the Google Pixel 2, also have this always-on display feature.

More flexibility

There are three Galaxy S9 features in particular that gave me more flexibility in terms of how I use my phone: the fingerprint sensor, the microSD card slot, and the headphone jack. I wasn’t forced to type in a passcode if I didn’t want to use facial recognition, and I could use any pair of wired headphones without remembering to bring an adapter with me all the time. Plus, knowing I had the option to add extra storage by purchasing a microSD card, many of which cost less than $100 depending on the size, eased any anxiety I might have about running out of space.
Although the iPhone X’s Face ID works most of the time, I still find myself occasionally typing in my passcode on Apple’s smartphone. It’s in these circumstances that I wish the iPhone X also had a fingerprint scanner on its back like the Galaxy S9 and other Android phones (I now find myself instinctively reaching for it on the iPhone X). The Galaxy S9’s fingerprint sensor is located at a more natural location compared to previous versions — underneath the camera rather than alongside it — which made it easy to get to my home screen almost immediately since my finger naturally aligns with the sensor. I often found this to be smoother than making sure the S9’s camera lined up with my eyes properly for facial recognition.
Because the Galaxy S9 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, I didn’t have to worry about keeping track of a small accessory to continue using the headphones I already own when listening to music. Newer iPhones and many recent Android phones don’t have a headphone jack, meaning you’ll have to use the included dongle to attach your current wired headphones to the device. Otherwise, your choices include using the earbuds that come bundled with your device or switching to wireless Bluetooth headphones.
As with many other Android phones, you can also choose to add more storage to the Galaxy S9 by purchasing a microSD card, which may be useful for those who download a lot of full-length movies or frequently shoot 4K video on their phones. It’s possible to find microSD cards on Amazon that add 128GB to your phone for about $40-$45, whereas with an iPhone you’re stuck with the same amount of storage you paid for on day one.

Low-light camera

The iPhone X’s top-notch camera is tough to beat, and in most cases I found that it captures sharper details and more accurate colors than Samsung’s phone. But when it comes to shooting in the dark, Samsung wins. Nearly every time I captured photos in dim environments, the Galaxy S9+ was able to grab a cleaner and clearer shot than the iPhone X. That’s thanks in part to the S9’s improved camera, which can now adjust its aperture to f/1.5 or f/2.4 depending on the lighting.

The curved screen

New smartphones from Samsung, Apple, Google, and LG all have nearly borderless displays that occupy almost the entire face of the device. But Samsung’s new phones, as well as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, are different in that their displays ever so slightly curve over the phones’ left and right edges. This gives the devices a more elegant look and makes the illusion that there’s no frame around the screen feel more convincing.
Plus, the Galaxy S9 doesn’t have a “notch” at the top of the screen for its camera and facial recognition sensors, a design choice for which some tech pundits and fans criticized Apple.

Multitasking

While I love the simplicity of iOS, Android phones are generally much better at helping you juggle several tasks at once. Samsung’s smartphones have long offered the ability to open more than one app on screen at a time, and that’s no different with the Galaxy S9. Just tap the recent apps button and press the multi-window symbol in the app’s title bar to launch it in split screen mode. Apple has made an effort to bring better multitasking to the iPad through features like Slide Over and Split View in recent years, but we have yet to see these capabilities come to the iPhone.

Если верить пользователям youtube, на одном из официальных каналов Samsung на короткое время появилось официальное промо-видео новейших флагманских смартфонов Samsung Galaxy S9 и Galaxy s9+. По всей видимости, кто-то из редакторов канала по шибке выбрал неправильную опцию при загрузке ролика и сделал его доступным широкой общественности. Видео вскоре было удалено, но многие пользователи, подписанные на youtube-каналы Samsung успели его скачать и распространить по миру. В результате за несколько часов до официальной премьеры ознакомиться с особенностями новинки смогли миллионы людей.
Некоторые считают, что это своеобразная вирусная реклама подразделения Samsung Mobile, котое, мол, специально допустило "утечку". Но в это всё же мало верится, поскольку пропадает эффект новизны.
Тем не менее, наверняка в ходе презентации будут продемонстрированы многие особенности, которые не отражены в небольшом рекламном фильме. Так что советуем обязательно посмотреть прямую трансляцию из Барселоны, которую наш  информационный блог будет вести начиная с 20:00 по московскому времени.

Samsung Galaxy S9 official promo video leaks out

When it rains, it pours, at least that's what the state of the Galaxy S9 looks like right now, a day before the official announcement.

What has just leaked out is the full promo video for the Galaxy S9 detailing all of its features. And it's nobody but Samsung's own fault as somebody slipped and published the video ahead of time.

And all of the rumors seem to be true: the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will look very, very similar to the S8 series, while the main difference between them will be a new camera with a variable aperture and a bump in processor and performance. The bigger S9+ will also have a secondary telephoto lens similar to the one on the Galaxy Note 8.

"THE PHONE. REIMAGINED."

The video goes over the most important features of the S9 and S9 Plus, but interestingly enough it also pays a lot of attention to the new Samsung DeX dock that allows you to connect the S9 series to an external monitor and have a desktop like experience. Additionally, the video also makes it clear that the S9 is a great phone for enterprises with advanced security features.
Interestingly enough, there is little focus on the actual consumer experience and things like the camera, which makes us think that Samsung might actually have a few promo videos out there to show us at its Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event tomorrow. This is the first one that lifts the cover off the S9 series wide open. Tomorrow, we'll learn what else there is to it.
