Менее чем за сутки до мероприятия Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020, которое стартует в Сан-Франциско (штат Калифорния, США) в 22:00 по московскому времени, раскрыты практически все спецификации мобильных новинок от южнокорейского техногиганта.
"Королями бала" по традиции станут флагманские смартфоны семейства Gslsxy S. Очередное изменение нумерации принесёт на глобальный рынок "аппараты нового десятилетия", а именно 4 основных модификации Galaxy S20 (отныне, надо полагать, эти модели будут соответствовать году их выпуска).
Итак, на сей раз лидер мобильной индустрии порадует продвинутых гиков рекордными параметрами своих устройств. В особенности это касается производительности и качества фото/видеокамер.
Эксперты говорят, что после появления Galaxy S20 у многих владельцев "классических" фотоаппаратов вовсе пропадёт желание брать такую обузу в отпуск или на прогулку. Качество съёмки на мобильные камеры прогрессирует гораздо быстрее, чем производители "зеркалок" и "беззеркалок" успевают модернизировать свои продукты. Благодаря тому, что Samsung продаёт смартфоны сотнями миллионов, у корпорации появляется горазо больше средств на внедрение самых передовых технологий в миниатюрные фотомодули, нежели у компаний типа Canon, Olympus и Panasonic, которым уже не хватает финансовых ресурсов на очередной прорыв в сегменте полноформатных камер. Поэтому неудивительно, что их подразделения по выпуску потребительских фото/видеокамер в последние годы терпят убытки.
Итак, старшая версия Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G сможет предложить новейший сенсор в основной камере с разрешением 108 мегапикселей. Матрица обладает повышенной светочувствительностью, что влечёт за собой улучшение качество съёмки в тёмное время суток или в слабо освещённых помещениях. Кроме того, работу блока камер поддерживает улучшенная система интеллектуальной обработки (так называемая "вычислительная фотография"), которая позволит "вытянуть" из захваченного изображения максимум возможного. Это, в свою очередь, позволило внедрить гибридный зум, который способен осуществлять 100-кратное приближение (10x оптическое + цифровой кроп).
Обработка каждого фото/видеокадра будет осуществляться наиболее продвинутой графической системой на базе мощнеших процессоров последнего поколения Exynos (от Samsung) или SnapDragon (от Qualcomm), а также новейшими высокоскоростными фирменными модулями ОЗУ. Прирост мощности позволил внедрить такое революционное новшество, как поддержка видесъёмки в ультравысоком разрешении 8K, что гарантирует владельцу Galaxy S20 Ultra беспроблемную жизнь с этим аппаратов в течение ближайших 5-ти лет (как минимум). Разумеется, такие технологии стоят недёшево, поэтому цена на самую "навороченную" модификацию ожидается на уровне 1400 долларов США. Но за эти деньги вы фактически получаете "всё в одном": весьма качественную камеру, производительность на уровне хорошего ноутбука (работа в режиме DeX фактически позволяет заменить привычный лэптоп) и мобильное устройство ультракласса для самых продвинутых коммуникаций, включая управление "умным домом".
Что касается менее дорогих версий Galaxy S20 и Galaxy S20+, то они также не разочаруют своих обладателей, поскольку предложакт те же функции, за исключением камер, где параметры будут немного скромнее.
Samsung Galaxy S20, Samsung Galaxy S20+ и Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra получат усовершенствованные OLED-дисплеи с диагональю 6,2, 6,7 и 6,9 дюйма, причём комплект поставки у всез сартфонов будет одинаковый. В него войдут зарядное устройство и кабель, качественные проводные наушники AKG, скрепка для замены SIM-карты и сменные амбушюры.

After few hours, Samsung announces its flagship mobile products of the first half of 2020

Samsung is getting set to unveil its newest Galaxy phones today, Feb. 11, said to be called the Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20 Plus 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (RIP Galaxy S11, a name that died before it even arrived). We've been keeping our eyes peeled for new rumors and speculation in advance on the big reveal at Samsung Unpacked. Some of the more exciting rumored features include the 5G support thought to be baked into the phones' names, upgraded camera tech, some fun new colors, a giant battery, a beast of a processor and extra-fast 120Hz screens.
The Galaxy S20 phones won't be alone. We also expect Samsung to reveal a foldable phone called the Galaxy Z Flip, a clamshell design meant to challenge the Motorola Razr (which is available for preorder now and goes on sale Feb. 6). While the Galaxy S20 phones will anchor Samsung's Unpacked event, we anticipate seeing more products come to light, like the Galaxy Buds Plus and maybe the Galaxy Watch 2.
5G may sneakily be the most important new Galaxy S20 feature to impact the mobile industry. These phones could help tip the scale in bringing 5G to the masses, at least in the top tier. After all, Samsung is the world's biggest phone brand, and the Galaxy S should be the company's most popular premium phones. 
There's good reason for Samsung to anticipate big sales. The company is already coasting off a strong 2019 that saw the excellent Galaxy Note 10 and unforgettable Galaxy Fold. If the brand has its way, big changes coming to the Galaxy S20 phones could spell out another blockbuster year.
We expect the Galaxy S20 series to more or less align with the iPhone 11 series, with the standard version well under $1,000 and the most advanced model breaking the $1,000 mark. The base model price was all but verified Friday when a listing for the S20 appeared Friday on Amazon AE, the company's site for the United Arab Emirates, for a price of 3,112.72 Arab Emirate dirham, or approximately $847.
The latest mix of rumor and speculation about the Galaxy S20 pricing comes from Max Weinbach of XDA Developers:

* Galaxy S20: $850 (900 to 1,000 euros)
* Galaxy S20 Plus: $950 (1,050 to 1,100 euros)
* Galaxy S20 Ultra: $1,200 (1,300 euros)

For reference, here were the Galaxy S10 prices for the base storage configuration:

* Galaxy S10E: $749, £669, AU$1,199
* Galaxy S10: $899, £799, AU$1,349
* Galaxy S10 Plus: $999, £899, AU$1,499
* Galaxy S10 5G: $1,300, £1,099, AU$2,950

The exact names of the three Galaxy S20 models have been bouncing around, but people are starting to settle on Galaxy S20 5G for the "standard" version, S20 Plus 5G for the middle version (not Pro) and S20 Ultra 5G for what is presumably the largest, most advanced of the three.
Here are the rumored specs in aggregate, based on Max Weinbach from XDA Developers, My Smart Price and Twitter leakers Ice Universe and Evan Blass. The Amazon AE leak also corroborated rumors about the display, battery and camera array, but the model in the listing featured an Exynos 990 processor, not the rumored Snapdragon 865.

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (rumored specs)

* 6.9-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate
* Cameras: 108-megapixel main, 48-megapixel telephoto with 10x optical zoom, 12-megapixel ultrawide, time-of-flight sensor
* 40-megapixel wide front-facing camera
* 128GB, 256GB, 512GB internal storage
* MicroSD card support, 12GB or 16GB RAM
* 5,000-mAh battery with optional 45-watt fast-charger
* Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor

Samsung may be embracing a lighter hue, if this latest is right. Mobile tweeter Ishan Agarwal posted images said to be official renders of the S20 phones. According to Agarwal, the S20 Ultra will come in black and grey, with the S20 Plus available in black, grey and blue, and the S20 in grey, pink and blue.
Note that color availability often varies by region, and that Samsung typically introduces special shades and even special backing material for select phones and regions. The leaked Amazon listing showed a Cloud Blue model.
A software feature could come to the Galaxy S20 phones that makes them act more like the iPhone in one specific way. Called Quick Share, the rumored tool could make it easy to transfer photos, video and other files from the phone to other compatible devices.
Quick Share could mimic the effect of Apple's AirDrop tool for iPhones and iPads, but with Samsung's ecosystem in mind.
Exactly which devices are compatible with the Galaxy S20 matters. Hopefully, Samsung's renewed partnership with Microsoft means that Windows 10 computers would get the green light, and not only devices like Samsung laptops, TVs and tablets.
Samsung has officially announced its Unpacked event for Feb. 11 at San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts. It's widely believed that Samsung will also take the wraps off its second foldable phone, perhaps called the Galaxy Bloom, which bends into a square, similar to the Motorola Razr.
Look for the Galaxy S20 to go on preorder shortly after Feb. 11, with phones shipping a week or two after the reveal.
We've highlighted which phones might get which cameras. Let's dig into those a bit more, because a rumored 108-megapixel main camera sensor for the S20 Ultra is something to talk about.
Logic holds that the larger the camera pixel, the more light can flow in, the better the photo is. That's why more megapixels won't necessarily mean better photos. The camera processing plays a huge role in image quality. Is this madness?
It sounds like madness. But Chinese brand Xiaomi already beat Samsung to it with the Mi CC9 Pro, which has a 108-megapixel camera.
A 108-megapixel camera may sound wild, but the Snapdragon 865 chip we talked about above can support a 200-megapixel camera. You may not be using all 108 million pixels all the time, but having that extra resolution can be helpful for zooming in and cropping.
Twitter leaker Weinbach corroborates that the S20 Ultra 5G will be the only one to get the 108-megapixel camera of the three new phones, with a 48-megapixel 10x optical zoom lens and a 12-megapixel ultrawide-angle lens for group and landscape shots to go along with it.
Meanwhile, leaker Ice Universe tweeted that the S20 and S20 Plus will have 12-megapixel cameras, while the two higher-end devices will also have time-of-flight sensors (ToF), which are useful for portrait video mode and AR applications.
So what might we get with the S20? Rounded shoulders, which have become the Galaxy S trademark, but with a more squared-off look reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 10. A slim body. Curved sides for all models, unlike the Galaxy S10E's flat screen.
The camera array seems to be rectangular and off to the left, according to renders and possible photos. It might also stick out from the surface, a lot like the iPhone 11 and Google Pixel 4. Cameras that stick out are more vulnerable to breaking when you drop your phone, so a case is an absolute must.
Now about 5G. This is a rumored feature, but also a given. The Galaxy S20 is 99.9% likely to use the powerful Snapdragon 865 processor, which chipmaker Qualcomm won't make available to phone brands without the 5G modem it pairs with. Ipso facto, you get a phone with the Snapdragon 865, you get a 5G-ready phone.
The same goes for any regions that will package the Galaxy S20 with Samsung's in-house Exynos 990 5G processor, which often happens in Asia, especially Samsung's home country of South Korea. (Ice Universe says Samsung is "determined" to use Snapdragon 865 for South Korean models.)
While the Galaxy S20 will be 5G-ready, not every phone may be able to access 5G. Cities and countries that are 4G-only will only be able to use 4G networks, so the 5G Galaxy S20 could very well act like a 4G phone.
We'll see how it all shakes out, but I'd be surprised if Samsung used any chip other than Snapdragon 865. The Galaxy S series is its mainstream flagship and Samsung is the world's largest phone-maker. Samsung will want to put its best foot forward by delivering the phone with the "best" chip.
We talked about phone screens earlier, but here's what else we're likely to get: the ability to turn on a 120Hz screen refresh rate. That will make animations and scrolling a whole lot smoother than the standard 60Hz refresh rate we have now.
While a 120Hz refresh rate is great for gaming and other quick transitions, it's a battery hog. Still, the OnePlus 8 is getting support for a 120Hz screen. The Galaxy S20 could put the power in your hands with settings to switch between 60Hz to preserve battery life and 120Hz if you want to rev up animations.
This is pretty much a done deal since both the Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 5G support 210Hz screens.
There's little doubt that every Samsung phone in 2020 will run on Android 10 (corroborated in the Amazon leak) and the company's own One UI 2, which was announced in October and is now available in beta.
Samsung One UI 2 aims to push icons and screen controls toward the bottom of the phone so they're easier to reach one-handed.
Let's not forget onboard storage, external memory and RAM. According to Weinbach's recent tweet, the S20 Ultra will have:

* 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options
* 12GB and 16GB RAM configurations
* MicroSD card slot for external storage, with support for up to 1TB

Понимая особую важность события и стремление удержать лидерские позиции на рынке мобильных устройств, руководство Samsung приняло решение провести отдельное ото всех мероприятие Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 в калифорнийском городе  Сан-Франциско (США), где находится одно из основных подразделений техногиганта, а также представительства главных IT-партнёров (и одновременно конкурентов) в лице Google, Apple и т.д.

Samsung to unpack Galaxy S10 series in San Francisco in mid-Feb

Samsung Electronics will hold the Galaxy S10 Unpacked event in San Francisco in mid-February, according sources on Jan. 9.  
The 10th edition of Galaxy S phones will be unveiled in the city - home to the world’s most innovative tech firms - one week ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2019 that kicks off in Barcelona, Spain, on Feb. 28, sources told The Korea Herald.
Samsung was widely expected to announce the S10 series at MWC 2019 in Barcelona as it did for the predecessor S9 series. 
However, there reportedly has been a discussion about changing the place and timing of the Unpacked event to mark the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy phone this year. 
It is presumed that Samsung could have moved forward the announcement by taking into account Huawei’s possible debut of its first foldable smartphone at MWC. 
Meanwhile, the schedule for the release of Samsung’s first foldable smartphone hasn’t been confirmed, a high-ranking Samsung official said. 
“Because it is the first foldable phone by Samsung, we are thinking more about offering some powerful contents for better user experience that can be earned only from the foldable phone,” the official said. 
Considering that Samsung exclusively showcased a nearly completed prototype of its foldable phone to executives of major clients at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas, some in the industry have said its debut may also be imminent. 
According to a Samsung official, the foldable phone - temporarily dubbed “Galaxy F” - would come with a price tag of around 2 million won ($1,788). Just 1 million Galaxy foldable phones will be released into markets starting in Korea and then in the US, China and Europe.

Not so long ago, consoles and PCs were the only platforms powerful enough to deliver the best gaming experiences. But as the computing and graphics capability of smartphones continue to improve, the experience of gaming on mobile devices can now rival traditional platforms.

The statistics speak for themselves. There are an estimated 2.1 billion mobile gamers around the world; 56 percent of them play games on their phone more than ten times per week.

As the Galaxy smartphone is the world’s largest platform for Android games, Samsung is in a unique position to shape the future of mobile gaming. Our aim is simple – create immersive and unique experiences for gamers across the globe.

Our commitment to push the boundaries of mobile gaming led to the establishment of Galaxy GameDev in 2016 – a program dedicated to supporting global game developers and partners.

Since the program was announced at SDC 2016, it has helped over 50 partners, including Unity and Epic Games, optimize their offerings. By providing cutting-edge tools to developers, such as 64-bit and Vulkan API, GameDev set a new standard in the quality of mobile gaming. The launch of Fortnite for Android with Galaxy Note9 is just one of many examples of the program’s enormous influence on the gaming landscape.

Building on the progress made to date, we are ready to take mobile gaming on Galaxy to the next level. At the core of our vision are three principles – help game developers to create best games, help users discover great games, and help the game industry to grow its great ecosystem.

SDC18: Samsung Expands Developer Support to Deliver Premium Mobile Gaming

From blockbuster RPGs to clan wars and classic puzzles, our smartphones are now powerful enough to deliver premium gaming experiences. Now Samsung is helping developers push the envelope further.

Samsung has been working to expand its gaming ecosystem to make Galaxy devices the go-to platform for gamers. The all-new Galaxy Store, for example, will become the single destination for all digital items related to Galaxy devices, making it easier and more convenient to discover and download everything from new games, to applications, themes, fonts and more.

Samsung to hold its first Bixby Developer Day in Seoul in Nov.

Samsung Electronics Tuesday announced it will hold Bixby Developer Day at InterContinental Seoul COEX on Nov. 20 in hopes to borrow talents to reinforce its AI platform. 
It will be the first time the South Korean tech giant devotes a developer conference for AI platform Bixby in its home country. Samsung Electronics said it aims to reinforce collaboration with Korean developers and partners. 
The conference consists of keynote speeches, technology and business session, Code Lab and exhibition programs. Chung Eui-suk, Samsung Electronics’ vice president who has led Bixby development, and Adam Cheyer, vice president for Samsung Electronics’ R&D will deliver a keynote speech to introduce Bixby’s new features and to share Bixby’s future vision and strategy.
During the technology and business session, participants will discuss how to use the Bixby developer kit, user experience design and realization of individualized services, and stories of Samsung’s partnership with Mango Plate and Bugs. The Code Lab program will allow front-line developers to experience a development environment by using the Bixby developer kit. Those who want to participate can apply for the event at . 
Ahead of the event, Samsung Electronics will hold Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) in San Francisco on Nov. 7-8 to introduce new Bixby features and its first AI speaker, Galaxy Home, where many speculate Samsung’s foldable phone specifications will be partially released.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the initial roster of keynote speakers for Samsung Developer Conference 2018 (SDC18), where thousands of the world’s most prominent developers and creators will come together to explore today’s technology and work towards building the software and services of tomorrow.

DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, will open SDC18 by discussing Samsung’s vision for the future of technology, and how the company is continually innovating to deliver the best customer experience. “At Samsung, we remain committed to enriching our open hardware, software and services ecosystems, empowering partners and developers to create new, intelligent and unimagined experiences for consumers,” said DJ Koh. “As a part of this commitment, we are excited to announce at SDC18 new developments and tools across AI and IoT that will usher in the next generation of connectivity.”

Samsung Electronics Launches Samsung Design Innovation Center

Dr. Federico Casalegno, founder of the MIT Design Lab and MIT Mobile Experience Lab, to lead the new San Francisco-based center

Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of the Samsung Design Innovation Center (SDIC), a design lab dedicated to the integration of disruptive user-experiences to product design, in San Francisco, California. Dr. Federico Casalegno, an associate professor of the practice at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as founder and executive director of the MIT Design Lab and founder of the MIT Mobile Experience Lab, has been appointed as the head of the new center.
Originally launched as a product design studio for North America in 1994, the SDIC will merge with a new user-experience research arm to expand its role from designing products mostly individually to designing multi-device user-experiences. The mission of the SDIC will be to contribute to creating stronger insights based on a deep understanding of consumer lifestyle trends, as well as adapting to the changing trends and emerging lifestyle patterns of local markets. The center will also play an important role of envisioning product concepts that do not exist today and assist in the launch of those products to market. The SDIC is part of the Corporate Design Center, located in Seoul, and one of seven Samsung design studios globally.
Dr. Federico Casalegno, who has extensive experience as a designer and a social scientist at MIT, has recently joined Samsung Electronics. Dr. Casalegno’s expertise and interests lie in the impact of networked digital technologies on human behavior and society.
“In this age of connected devices, it is imperative that a designer understands and considers the cross-device user experience for every design element of a product, because most products no longer serve a standalone purpose anymore.” said Dr. Federico Casalegno, head of SDIC. “Our mission is to understand people and lifestyles to deliver meaningful experiences, through beautiful yet functional design, enabled by innovative cutting-edge technologies. With a talented team of multi-disciplinary designers, the SDIC will seek to leverage insights from the North American market and tap into the Silicon Valley entrepreneurial spirit to design inspiring products and experiences.”

User experiences must involve awareness of the other devices around them and work together. На конференции разработчиков SDC 2017 (Samsung Developer Conference), которая проходит в эти дни в Сан-Франциско, корпорация Samsung Electronics представила следующее поколение своего интеллектуального голосового помощника Bixby.
Как было отмечено в ходе презентации 18 октября в центре Moscone West, Bixby 2.0 получил серьёзные улучшения и становится открытой платформой для сторонних приложений. Новый цифровой сервис предназначен для широкого круга связанных между собой IoT-устройств и уже с 2018 года появится не только на смартфонах, но и в других премиальных продуктах марки Samsung: холодильниках, телевизорах, смарт-часах, роботах-пылесосах, микроволновых печах, смарт-акустике и так далее.
Избранным разработчикам Samsung откроет доступ к бэта-программе для Bixby SDK, чтобы испытать возможности новой системы. В будущем SDK станет доступен для всех разработчиков.
Впервые в новую версию Bixby включены фрагменты кода от калифорнийской компании ViV Labs, известного разработчика систем искусственного интеллекта. В прошлом году конгломерат Samsung приобрёл ViV Labs примерно за $250 миллионов и теперь её сотрудники заняты совершенствованием голосового помощника южнокорейского гиганта.
Отличительной особенностью обновлённой версии Bixby 2.0 станет лучшее распознавание разговорной речи, дифференциация голосов людей и круга интересов каждого пользователя, а также более совершенная контекстуальная система, определяющая тематику разговора.
При этом каждое смарт-устройство получит свою версию Bixby, наилучшим образом адаптированную к предназначению прибора. Так, например, смарт-телевизоры будут "заточены" на ускоренный поиск видеоконтента (конкретных кинофильмов, спортивных соревнований, музыкальных программ и т.д.), а смарт-холодильники "сосредоточатся" на хозяйственных делах (поиск нужных рецептов, рекомендации приготовлений блюд из тех продуктов, которые находятся внутри холодильника, закз продуктов в интернет-магазинах). Соответственно, стиральная машина выдаст рекомендации по стирке вещей из того или иного материала, определит наиболее подходящее моющее средство и подсчитает сколько времени займёт стирка в зависимости от степени загрязнения белья. Разумеется, возможности Bixby в той же "стиралке" не ограничатся только "профильными" опциями. Любой IoT-девайс от Samsung сможет ответить на все основные вопросы, волнующие среднестатистическую домохозяйку: прогноз погоды, актуальные распродажи с выгодными скидками, репертуар кинотеатров, концертных залов и т.д. Bixby без проблем закажет вам билет в кино, на самолёт или поезд посредством голосовой команды, сообщит об автомобильных пробках в городе на дынный момент и подберёт оптимальный маршрут.
В дальнейшем Bixby будет интегрирован в информационно-развлекательные системы автомобилей, чем в настоящее время занимается дочернее подразделение Samsung, американская компания HARMAN International.    

Bixby 2.0: The Start of the Next Paradigm Shift in Devices

Yesterday at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2017 in San Francisco, I was honored to share Samsung’s vision for intelligence, with the introduction of Bixby 2.0 – a powerful intelligent assistant platform that will bring a connected experience that is ubiquitous, personal, and open.  Bixby 2.0 will be a fundamental leap forward for digital assistants and represents another important milestone to transform our digital lives.
Today’s assistants are useful, but ultimately still play a limited role in people’s lives. People use them to set timers and reminders, answer trivial questions, etc. We see a world where digital assistant play a bigger role, an intelligent role, where one day everything from our phones, to our fridge, to our sprinkler system will have some sort of intelligence to help us seamlessly interact with all the technology we use each day.
To understand where we are going with devices, it is important to understand how far we’ve come. It is hard to believe, when you think back to just a decade ago, how we used our phones. It was likely a feature phone, which was primarily used to make calls and use a limited number of apps. But I knew, we at Samsung knew, that there were greater possibilities for the mobile phone. During the early and mid-2000, I led the team at Samsung in creating the Mobile Intelligent Terminal by Samsung (MITs), which was an early generation of smartphones before the Galaxy S and Note series were finally born. Powered by open API, application eco-system and innovative touch UI, smartphone market has, ever since then, exploded and became a life-essential tool for everyone. It also brought new opportunities for businesses and developers.
I believe that we are now on the cusp of the next major tectonic shift. With our long legacy as the global smartphone leader, we’ve been bringing meaningful innovation and driving digital transformation for the industry, and we are excited to help lead the change during another revolutionary moment. Personally, I am excited to be part of this next great era and this shift is one of the reasons why we are motivated to continue to develop our intelligent assistant, Bixby.
We introduced Bixby to the world earlier this year with the launch of our flagship mobile devices, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the Note 8. Bixby is now available in over 200 different countries, with more than 10 million registered users. But this is just a start. When we launched Bixby, we focused on how it could help people with getting the most out of their smartphones and apps to make their life easier. We integrated a few close partner applications on the device to make those devices more intelligent. We created multi-step, and cross-app capabilities that have allowed more than millions of Bixby users get things done faster and easier, but it is just a stepping stone for us.
Now, we are ready to take Bixby to the next level. Bixby 2.0 is a bold reinvention of the platform. A reinvention aimed at transforming basic digital assistants from a novelty to an intelligence tool that is a key part of everyone’s daily life.
Bixby 2.0 will be ubiquitous, available on any and all devices. This means having the intelligence of Bixby, powered by the cloud, act as the control hub of your device ecosystem, including mobile phones, TVs, refrigerators, home speakers, or any other connected technology you can imagine. Soon, developers will be able to put their services on any and all devices and will not have to reinvent their services each time they support a new device.
It will be more personal, with enhanced natural language capabilities for more natural commands and complex processing, so it can really get to know and understand not only who you are, but who members of your family are, and tailor its response and actions appropriately.
And finally, and most importantly, Bixby 2.0 will be open. We know Samsung cannot deliver on this paradigm shift by ourselves – it can only happen if we all, across all industries, work together, in partnership. With Bixby 2.0, the doors will be wide open for developers to choose and model how users interact with Bixby in their services across all application domains e.g., sports, food, entertainment, or travel – the opportunities are truly endless.
Starting today, we’re announcing our first private beta program with Bixby SDK, which will be available for select developers. We will work as one team, innovating, collaborating, and bringing Bixby 2.0 to life. Over time, we will increase the number of participants in the beta, and ultimately make the Bixby SDK available to all developers.
Bixby 2.0 will ultimately be a marketplace, for intelligence. A new channel for developers to reach users with their service, not just on mobile devices, but through all devices. Over time, we will rollout variety of revenue models to maximize our partners’ business opportunities in this new paradigm. Hopefully making it as fruitful as the move from feature to smartphones was for our partners.
