Конгломерат Samsung подписал меморандум о взаимопонимании с Корейским агентством по безопасности перевозок (KOTSA) в целях развития передовых технологий для подключённых автомобилей.
Речь идёт о формировании инфраструктуры 5G-V2X на территории крупного полигона K-City в Южной Корее. Эта площадка представляет собой передовой центр для тестирования технологий самоуправления. Полигон K-City расположен на территории площадью 360 тыс. м2 и моделирует различные условия для вождения — город, сельскую местность, автомагистрали и стоянки.
Инфраструктура 5G-V2X предусматривает обмен данными между транспортными средствами и другими объектами посредством высокоскоростной мобильной связи 5G. Наряду с этим планируется задействовать и современные технологии 4G/LTE.
«Благодаря доступу к различным телекоммуникационным сетям, включая 5G, 4G и V2X, в одном месте, K-City позволит максимально реалистично воссоздать реальные условия для испытания технологий автономного вождения», — отмечают специалисты KOTSA.
В рамках проекта Samsung Electronics займётся установкой необходимого сетевого оборудования. Кроме того, корпорация приступит к созданию ключевой IT-инфраструктуры, чтобы обеспечить минимальное время ожидания и наибольшую информационную безопасность в K-City.
В дальнейшем, как отмечается, полигон станет центром исследований технологий автономного вождения и подключённых автомобилей, которые будут находиться в авангарде активно развивающихся отраслей, связанных с 5G.

Samsung and KOTSA to Build 5G–V2X Test Zone for Connected Cars and Autonomous Vehicles

The groundbreaking test bed, K-City, will be equipped with 4G, 5G and V2X technology to provide 5 cases of real-life conditions

Samsung Electronics today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KOTSA) to collaborate on next-generation telecommunication technology which will enable autonomous driving innovation across the country. Through the partnership, both entities will build 4G LTE, 5G and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) telecommunication networks and related IT infrastructures at K-City, a test bed for autonomous driving technology in Korea.
“By building various telecommunication networks including 5G, 4G and V2X in one place, K-City will provide real-world experiences of autonomous driving for people and businesses across the industry,” said Byung Yoon Kwon, Director of KOTSA. “This open environment is expected to be served as a unique innovation lab for industry partners that will ultimately enable to accelerate the availability of autonomous driving era.”
“The prominence of autonomous vehicles and connected cars is growing rapidly in the 5G era, and Samsung’s commitment to collaborative innovation in this area is stronger than ever,” said Jaeho Jeon, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology Service, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “With our technical expertise in 5G technologies, we are uniquely positioned to establish the foundation of a new industrial ecosystem that will allow the autonomous driving industry to flourish.”
K-City consists of five real-life simulated cases, urban and rural areas, local communities, highways and parking lots, spread across a 360,000m2 field. Using advanced vehicle communication technologies, the test bed will create an environment for autonomous vehicles and connected cars to experience real-life road conditions, crossings and tunnels. It will also enable the testing of accident risk situations that can be recreated and repeated, contributing to enhanced safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
Alongside the implementation of network equipment, Samsung will begin building key IT infrastructures to guarantee minimal latency and information security at K-City. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) near base stations is critical in supporting instant communication between fast-moving vehicles, and enables cars to react to unanticipated events.
Designed as a multi-purpose open innovation lab to serve various industries, the network solution in K-City supported by Samsung and KOTSA will be available to professionals and businesses of all sizes. The site will eventually become the center of research for autonomous driving and connected cars, which will spearhead the future growth of 5G industries.

3 ведущих конгломерата страны покажут автономное транспортное средство, работающее с помощью сети следующего поколения, в честь открытия K-City. Этот специальный объект, построенный для тестирования технологий автоматизации инфраструктуры в городе Хвасон, провинция Кёнги, будет официально введён в строй в конце ноября.
Ожидается, что в мероприятии примут участие высокопоставленные должностные лица, а также топ-менеджеры компаний-проектировщиков. 
Демонстрация возможностей оборудования на базе 5G будет означать, что 3 основных игрока в сегменте автомобилестроения, электроники и телекоммуникаций обладают набором технологий, обеспечивающих работу самоуправляемых транспортных средств. 
Во время зимних Олимпийских игр 2018 года в Пхенчхане KT и Hyundai также работали вместе, чтобы продемонстрировать возможности автономных автомобилей. 
На предстоящей ноябрьской демонстрации Hyundai будет отвечать за разработку передовых систем поддержки водителя, в то время как Samsung предоставит сетевое оборудование 5G, использующее диапазон 3,5 ГГц. В свою очередь, KT обеспечит монтаж и наладку передающих станций 5G в районе тестирования. 
«Местные технологии автономного вождения заметно отстают от того, что делается в США и Европе, но предстоящая демонстрация докажет технические возможности южнокорейских фирм в области автономного вождения на базе 5G», - сказал неназванный представитель отрасли в интервью бизнес-порталу The Investor. 
Проект «K-City» стартовал в июне 2016 года, его целью было создание испытательного полигона для самоуправляемых автомобилей. Правительство Южной Кореи инвестировало 11 миллиардов вон (9,8 миллиона долларов США) в строительство специально оборудованного участка площадью 320.000 квадратных метров, что почти в 2,5 раза больше, чем знаменитый макет города Mcity, построенного Мичиганским университетом (США) для тестирования подключённых автономных машин. 
Испытательный участок в Южной Корее, который оснащён макетами ворот, перекрёстков и автостоянок, позволит исследователям оценивать качество систем самоуправляемых авто в реальных условиях.

Samsung, Hyundai, KT to jointly demonstrate autonomous driving tech

Tech giant Samsung Electronics, automaker Hyundai Motor and telecommunications companyKT will jointly showcase autonomous driving technology running on the 5G network later this month, according to sources on Nov. 5. 
The three conglomerates will demonstrate an autonomous vehicle running on the next-generation network in an event to celebrate the opening of K-City, a self-driving vehicle testing and research facility in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, in late November.
Top officials from the central and regional governments as well as company officials are anticipated to participate in the event.
The demonstration will mark the first time that the three major players in the car, electronics, and telecom segments are making a joint effort to showcase the self-driving car technology.
During the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, KT and Hyundai worked together to showcase autonomous vehicles.
Hyundai will be in charge of developing advanced driver-assistance systems for the demonstration this month while Samsung will offer 5G network equipment utilizing the 3.5GHz band. KT will establish the 5G network facilities at the testing site.
“Domestic autonomous driving technology is considered to be far behind that in the US and Europe, but the planned demonstration will prove the Korean firms’ technical capability for 5G-based autonomous driving,” an industry official said.
The K-City project started in June 2016 to set up a testing facility for self-driving cars. The Korean government invested 11 billion won (US$9.80 million) to develop the testing and research site built on a 320,000-square-meter land - nearly 2.5 times larger than Mcity, a mock city built by the University of Michigan for testing connected and driverless cars in the US.
The testing site in Korea, which is fitted with tollgates, crossroads and parking lots will allow researchers to operate self-driving cars in real-life driving conditions.
