28 января техногигант Samsung Electronics объявил, что в феврале запустит на рынок новый мощный беспроводной пылесос с усовершенствованной системой фильтрации, предназначенной для улавливания мелкой пыли. 

В анонсе говорится, что мощность POWERstick Jet 200 составляет 200 Вт, что является «ведущим показателем в отрасли», обеспечивая тщательную очистку всех типов поверхностей. Новая беспроводная модель оснащена пятислойным высокоэффективным фильтром твёрдых частиц, который захватывает 99,9% мелкой пыли, чтобы удовлетворить растущие запросы потребителей по поводу улучшения качества воздуха.
«Ввиду ухудшения экологии из-за мелкодисперсной пыли, люди всё больше внимания уделяют качеству воздуха в своих домах», - заявил на пресс-конференции вице-президент по маркетингу пылесосов Эвген Чанг. «Мы ожидаем, что Samsung POWERstick Jet 200 улучшит процесс очистки, повысив качество жизни пользователей». 
Признавая, что длительность срока службы аккумулятора является критическим пунктом для беспроводных пылесосов, в Samsung заявили, что Jet 200 работает до 60 минут на одном заряде, что примерно в 1,5 раза больше, чем у предыдущей модели. Jet 200 также имеет сгибающуюся рукоятку, что облегчает уборку в труднодоступных местах, например, под диваном.    
Новая модель будет выпущена в начале февраля по цене от 969.000 южнокорейских вон (866 долларов США) до 1.399.000 вон в зависимости от количества сменных батарей и съёмных щёток, говорится в сообщении корпорации.
Поначалу новинка будет доступна только на южнокорейском рынке, но позже она должна появиться и в других регионах мира.

Samsung to launch premium cordless vacuum cleaner

Samsung Electronics said on Jan. 28 it will launch a new cordless vacuum cleaner with powerful suction and an advanced filtration system designed to capture fine dust next month. 
Featuring 200 watts of “industry leading” suction power, Samsung said its POWERstick Jet 200 will offer a thorough cleaning experience for all floor types.    
The new cordless model has a five-layer high efficiency particulate air filter to suck in 99.9 percent of fine dust to address growing consumer concerns over air quality, it noted.
“In light of the worsening fine dust, consumers are paying more attention to the air quality at home,” Eugene Chung, vice president of vacuum cleaner marketing, said at a media event. “We expect the Samsung Jet 200 to improve the cleaning experience by better blocking fine dust from our daily lives.”
Recognizing that a long-battery life is a critical component of a cordless vacuum, Samsung said the Jet 200 lasts up to 60 minutes on a single charge, which is about 1.5 times longer than the previous model. 
It also has a flex handle that extends, making it easier to vacuum in hard-to-reach areas such as under the sofa.    
The new model will be released in early February, with prices ranging from 969,000 won (US$866) to 1,399,000 won depending on the number of batteries and detachable brushes, the company said.

Samsung Galaxy 360 trademark hints at new branding for the TIZEN-powered camera

Samsung is planning to rebrand its Gear 360 camera lineup into the Galaxy 360. Originally submitted with the United States Patent and Trademark Office last Thursday, the IP documentation is indicative of another TIZEN-powered 360-degree camera being in the works, with Samsung also relating it to virtual reality headsets, smartphones, tablets, and several other types of consumer electronics, which is in line with the possibility of this being a Gear 360 successor given how the previously released cameras were compatible with a wide variety of devices.
Samsung hasn’t refreshed its 360-degree camera series since the spring of 2017 and was relatively quiet on the VR front this year as it hasn’t even introduced a new Gear VR headset. The move away from the Gear moniker the newly spotted trademark suggests corresponds with the company’s recent activity in the wearable segment; e.g. instead of launching the Gear S3 successor called the Gear S4, the firm introduced a new Galaxy Watch range this summer.
Samsung appears to be consolidating its product lineups under the Galaxy brand, with the move coming after the Galaxy S9 range recorded what the tech giant deemed were slower-than-expected sales. The Galaxy name remains one of the most valuable product brands on the planet and Samsung’s recent changes to its naming schemes are likely meant to ensure it keeps that title with a more varied portfolio.

Exploring Samsung CJG5 Monitor with Gaming Industry Expert Paulo J. Gomes from Deep Silver

On August 21, Samsung Electronics unveiled its new CJG5 curved gaming monitor at Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany. Offering strong benefits for casual and serious gamers alike, the CJG5 monitor is also well-equipped for the general user.
As more and more people explore the myriad fantasy worlds of role-playing games, or the rapid-fire action of first-person shooters, there is increasing demand for a computer monitor that brings even greater value to gamers.
In order to explore the monitor’s features in more detail, the Newsroom caught up with Paulo J. Gomes, Director and Producer of Bigmoon Studios from Deep Silver. Gomes gave his expert, hands-on opinion of the monitor while playing Deep Silver’s DAKAR 18.

Swift Reactions

The faster the refresh rate, the more fluid the motions on the screen, creating smooth images free from blurred movements. This lowers latency on cursor movements and scene transitions, improving the speed and efficiency of your work and play. With rapid refresh rates of 144Hz – significantly over and above the standard monitor refresh rate of 60Hz – the CJG5 was designed to deliver a more realistic in-game experience without interruption.
“The impeccable visuals augment the gaming experience, not only for DAKAR 18, but also for wide range of genres,” explained Gomes. “In DAKAR 18, you can drive from fast racing zones to slow driving environments. The CJG5 increases the experience by provide exceptionally responsive graphics and ensuring players do not experience picture lag or interruption with a 144Hz frame rate.”
Response times also prove key to reducing a player’s overall reaction speeds and, at 4 milliseconds(GTG), the CJG5’s response times give players a competitive edge. This means that the monitor is well-suited to playing high res games, as it reduces eye strain and produces no afterglow.

Resolution Redefined

It is an era when visual media continues to push for even more content in high definition. The growing Wide Quad HD (WQHD) market is responding to these demands with higher resolutions, providing crisp detail and pin-sharp images.
With a resolution of 2,560x1,440, the CJG5 monitor has a real estate approximately 1.7 times larger than a Full HD device. The WQHD device lets you see more of what you want on the screen, reducing the need to zoom or scroll as you navigate documents and webpages.
“I could tell a difference throughout the entire game,” said Gomes “With four times higher resolution compared to the standard HD monitors, the CJG5 showcases precise, life-like images. It’s extremely important for DAKAR 18 since we replicate the real lands of Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.”
Better picture quality also improves the gaming experience, as the display gives players a wider field of view so that they can see and react quicker.
For Gomes, this has a significant impact: “The VA curved panel and three-sided bezel-less design, combined with the highest resolution, creates an immersive gaming experience. The CJG5 benefits users who swiftly move their focus while playing games. With DAKAR 18, you need to shift focus a lot to identify where you are and avoid getting lost.”

Comfortable Viewing

Those who spend a significant portion of the day looking at a screen may experience eye strain due to intensive use. The CJG5’s 1800R curvature can help to improve comfort levels when looking at the screen for a long stretch of time, reducing eye fatigue and strain.
“In addition to the effects of the curved screen, Samsung’s Eye Saver Mode reduces fatigue-inducing blue light emissions and the monitor’s Flicker Free feature suppresses screen flicker, allowing less strain on your eyes,” Gomes remarked.
The curved display can also provide a more immersive experience for gamers, heightening the sense of realism.

Optimized for Gamers

The monitor is also packed with features which quickly optimize settings for particular viewing experiences. The CJG5’s game display mode instantly adjusts black gamma levels, contrast ratios, sharpness and color value settings for any game genre including FPS(First Person Shooting), RTS(Real Time Strategy), RPG(Role Playing Game), and AOS(Aeon Of Strife) – while the cinema mode does the same for movies.
The monitor is equipped with a Game UI, which offers an OSD dashboard menu for an instant overview of key settings.
“I particularly appreciated the image enhancement setting on the OSD dashboard to really enjoy the graphics throughout the game,” Gomes shared.

IFA 2018: The Samsung-owned Harman/Kardon announces a $600 Google Assistant speaker

Harman Kardon is releasing a new smart speaker that’ll support Google Assistant called the Citation 500. It’ll be shown for the first time at IFA 2018, and it will be available for preorder in Europe at the end of September.
The speaker comes in gray and black wool cover options, similar to the fabric-wrapped Google Home speakers. What’s not similar is the cost: the Citation 500 is priced at $599.95/€649. That’s about $200 more expensive than the Google Home Max, making it one of the most expensive Google Assistant speakers yet. (There are still the absurdly expensive $1,750 Bang & Olufsen Beosound 1 and 2 to beat.)
The Citation 500 has 200W stereo speakers and can support 24 bit/96Khz high-definition audio streaming. There’s a full-color LCD touch panel at the top of the speaker for controlling playback, though with Google Assistant support, you can just use your voice to request music or play wirelessly from your phone. You can also use the speaker as a smart home hub for functions like controlling the lights or thermostat.
The Citation 500 is Harman Kardon’s third smart speaker, but it’s the first in the “luxury” range. The Samsung-owned company still has yet to release a Bixby-enabled speaker, but it has already released an Alexa-enabled model called Allure, which costs $249, and the Cortana-enabled Invoke, which costs $199.

В официальном пресс-релизе сказано, что в новых картах Nvidia используются микросхемы GDDR6 плотностью 16 Гбит. Это первые микросхемы GDDR6 плотностью 16 Гбит, доступные на рынке. Они в 2 раза превосходят по ёмкости 20-нанометровые микросхемы памяти GDDR5 плотностью 8Гбит, выпускаемые южнокорейским вендором.
Скорость передачи данных новой памяти составляет 14 Гбит/с в расчёте на линию, что соответствует пропускной способности 56 ГБ/с. Этот показатель на 75% превосходит пропускную способность микросхем GDDR5 плотностью 8 Гбит, работающих со скоростью 8 Гбит/с.
Кроме того, память GDDR6 производства Samsung потребляет на 35% меньше энергии, чем микросхемы GDDR5. Samsung’s 16Gb GDDR6 Memory Powers Latest NVIDIA Quadro Professional Graphics Solution

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that its 16-gigabit (Gb) Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) memory is being used in NVIDIA’s new Turing architecture-based Quadro® RTX™ GPUs.
Thanks to Samsung’s industry-leading 16Gb GDDR6 memory, end users can expect improved performance and energy efficiency in the widest array of graphics-intensive applications, including computer-aided design (CAD), digital content creation (DCC) and scientific visualization applications. Samsung’s 16Gb GDDR6 can also be used in rapidly growing fields such as 8K Ultra HD video processing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI).
Samsung is leading the graphics market by offering the first available 16Gb GDDR6, which doubles the device capacity of the company’s 20-nanometer 8Gb GDDR5 memory. The new solution performs at a 14-gigabits-per-second (Gbps) pin speed with data transfers of 56 gigabytes per second (GB/s), which represents a 75 percent increase over 8Gb GDDR5 with its 8Gbps pin speed.
Moreover, Samsung’s GDDR6 consumes 35 percent less power than that required by the leading GDDR5 graphics solutions. Using a state-of-the-art low-power circuit design, the Samsung 16Gb GDDR6 operates at 1.35V compared to the 1.55V consumed by GDDR5 commonly found in the market today.

Unveiled today by NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang at the annual SIGGRAPH conference, the NVIDIA® Quadro RTX 8000, Quadro RTX 6000 and Quadro RTX 5000 GPUs bring hardware-accelerated ray tracing, AI, advanced shading and simulation to creative professionals. The new Quadro RTX GPUs will be available worldwide starting in October 2018.

Информация об этой новинке ранее уже неоднократно появлялась в профильных ресурсах, однако окончательные спецификации и возможности этого девайса были подтверждены в первый день августа 2018.
Практически все надежды, возлагаемые на новый девайс, подтвердились. Здесь вам и поддержка интеллектуального голосового помощника Bixby, и увеличенный объём оперативной (4Гб) и постоянной флэш-памяти, работа с картами microSD повышенной вместимости (до 400Гб), отличный Super AMOLED-дисплей (диагональ 10.5", соотношение сторон 16:10), улучшенные камеры и 4-канальный звуковой тракт от легендарного австрийского брэнда AKG с поддержкой Dolby Atmos, электронное перо S-Pen, работа в формате настольного PC благодаря совместимости с док-станцией, клавиатурой и Bluetooth-"мышкой", порт Type-C USB 3.1 (Gen 1), работа с беспроводными протоколами Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1.
