На прошлогодней конференции Samsung для разработчиков мы рассказывали о сетевом образе мышления, о вещах, которые возможны благодаря унификации подключения между разными устройствами. SDC18: What Does the Future Hold for Mobile Gaming?

Not so long ago, consoles and PCs were the only platforms powerful enough to deliver the best gaming experiences. But as the computing and graphics capability of smartphones continue to improve, the experience of gaming on mobile devices can now rival traditional platforms.

The statistics speak for themselves. There are an estimated 2.1 billion mobile gamers around the world; 56 percent of them play games on their phone more than ten times per week.

As the Galaxy smartphone is the world’s largest platform for Android games, Samsung is in a unique position to shape the future of mobile gaming. Our aim is simple – create immersive and unique experiences for gamers across the globe.

Our commitment to push the boundaries of mobile gaming led to the establishment of Galaxy GameDev in 2016 – a program dedicated to supporting global game developers and partners.

Since the program was announced at SDC 2016, it has helped over 50 partners, including Unity and Epic Games, optimize their offerings. By providing cutting-edge tools to developers, such as 64-bit and Vulkan API, GameDev set a new standard in the quality of mobile gaming. The launch of Fortnite for Android with Galaxy Note9 is just one of many examples of the program’s enormous influence on the gaming landscape.

Building on the progress made to date, we are ready to take mobile gaming on Galaxy to the next level. At the core of our vision are three principles – help game developers to create best games, help users discover great games, and help the game industry to grow its great ecosystem.

To turn this vision into reality, we are taking steps to provide the best support for the game development industry and game developers.

In the coming year, Galaxy GameDev will expand to include even more cutting-edge tools, including GPUWatch and GameSDK with Android P. Working in partnership with Unity, we will also release Adaptive Performance in 2019 to provide heat control API and other optimization tools for developers.

To help our gaming partners easily deliver their latest creations to their fans, we are launching the Galaxy Store Seller Program. For users, the brand-new Galaxy Store, the only store in Galaxy, will simplify the steps to find new games on Galaxy phones and more exclusive benefits.

And finally, we are strengthening Samsung IAP by enhancing the fraud detection system, settlement system and the seller dashboard. Our partnership program called Made4Samsung that started in the US will also expand globally, providing more opportunities for developers to commercialize their games.

SDC18: Samsung Expands Developer Support to Deliver Premium Mobile Gaming

From blockbuster RPGs to clan wars and classic puzzles, our smartphones are now powerful enough to deliver premium gaming experiences. Now Samsung is helping developers push the envelope further.

Samsung has been working to expand its gaming ecosystem to make Galaxy devices the go-to platform for gamers. The all-new Galaxy Store, for example, will become the single destination for all digital items related to Galaxy devices, making it easier and more convenient to discover and download everything from new games, to applications, themes, fonts and more.

With developers in mind, the company is enabling high-performance game development through its Galaxy GameDev program, which features exclusive tools and technical support.

* Vulkan API equips developers with the right tools to deliver a high-quality gaming experience. An enhanced iteration of Vulkan announced at Samsung Developer Conference 2018, offers 10 percent improved performance compared to the OpenGL ES, taking user gaming experience to the next level.

* GPUWatch aids developers in their monitoring and measurement of performance between Vulkan and OpenGL ES. It’s now packed with new features, such as overlaid measurement results and real-time information on-screen – all made possible without separate installation or PC connection.

Keynote speakers at the annual developer conference in San Francisco will introduce new technologies built for the future

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the initial roster of keynote speakers for Samsung Developer Conference 2018 (SDC18), where thousands of the world’s most prominent developers and creators will come together to explore today’s technology and work towards building the software and services of tomorrow.

DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, will open SDC18 by discussing Samsung’s vision for the future of technology, and how the company is continually innovating to deliver the best customer experience. “At Samsung, we remain committed to enriching our open hardware, software and services ecosystems, empowering partners and developers to create new, intelligent and unimagined experiences for consumers,” said DJ Koh. “As a part of this commitment, we are excited to announce at SDC18 new developments and tools across AI and IoT that will usher in the next generation of connectivity.”

Among the full lineup of speakers, SDC18 will feature special keynotes from Samsung executives at the forefront of software and services innovation:

SDC (Samsung Developer Conference) - это главный международный форум разработчиков софта для девайсов марки Samsung, который собирает под одной крышей программистов на таких операционных системах как TIZEN, Android и Windows. Также на конференции много внимания будет уделено вопросам киберугроз, а специальный доклад по этой теме сделает Джэйонг Джанг, вице-президент и руководитель группы технологий безопасности Samsung. SDC 2017: Samsung анонсировал Bixby 2.0 для различных IoT-устройств

На конференции разработчиков SDC 2017 (Samsung Developer Conference), которая проходит в эти дни в Сан-Франциско, корпорация Samsung Electronics представила следующее поколение своего интеллектуального голосового помощника Bixby.
Как было отмечено в ходе презентации 18 октября в центре Moscone West, Bixby 2.0 получил серьёзные улучшения и становится открытой платформой для сторонних приложений. Новый цифровой сервис предназначен для широкого круга связанных между собой IoT-устройств и уже с 2018 года появится не только на смартфонах, но и в других премиальных продуктах марки Samsung: холодильниках, телевизорах, смарт-часах, роботах-пылесосах, микроволновых печах, смарт-акустике и так далее.
Избранным разработчикам Samsung откроет доступ к бэта-программе для Bixby SDK, чтобы испытать возможности новой системы. В будущем SDK станет доступен для всех разработчиков.
Впервые в новую версию Bixby включены фрагменты кода от калифорнийской компании ViV Labs, известного разработчика систем искусственного интеллекта. В прошлом году конгломерат Samsung приобрёл ViV Labs примерно за $250 миллионов и теперь её сотрудники заняты совершенствованием голосового помощника южнокорейского гиганта.
Отличительной особенностью обновлённой версии Bixby 2.0 станет лучшее распознавание разговорной речи, дифференциация голосов людей и круга интересов каждого пользователя, а также более совершенная контекстуальная система, определяющая тематику разговора.
При этом каждое смарт-устройство получит свою версию Bixby, наилучшим образом адаптированную к предназначению прибора. Так, например, смарт-телевизоры будут "заточены" на ускоренный поиск видеоконтента (конкретных кинофильмов, спортивных соревнований, музыкальных программ и т.д.), а смарт-холодильники "сосредоточатся" на хозяйственных делах (поиск нужных рецептов, рекомендации приготовлений блюд из тех продуктов, которые находятся внутри холодильника, закз продуктов в интернет-магазинах). Соответственно, стиральная машина выдаст рекомендации по стирке вещей из того или иного материала, определит наиболее подходящее моющее средство и подсчитает сколько времени займёт стирка в зависимости от степени загрязнения белья. Разумеется, возможности Bixby в той же "стиралке" не ограничатся только "профильными" опциями. Любой IoT-девайс от Samsung сможет ответить на все основные вопросы, волнующие среднестатистическую домохозяйку: прогноз погоды, актуальные распродажи с выгодными скидками, репертуар кинотеатров, концертных залов и т.д. Bixby без проблем закажет вам билет в кино, на самолёт или поезд посредством голосовой команды, сообщит об автомобильных пробках в городе на дынный момент и подберёт оптимальный маршрут.
В дальнейшем Bixby будет интегрирован в информационно-развлекательные системы автомобилей, чем в настоящее время занимается дочернее подразделение Samsung, американская компания HARMAN International.    

Bixby 2.0: The Start of the Next Paradigm Shift in Devices

Yesterday at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2017 in San Francisco, I was honored to share Samsung’s vision for intelligence, with the introduction of Bixby 2.0 – a powerful intelligent assistant platform that will bring a connected experience that is ubiquitous, personal, and open.  Bixby 2.0 will be a fundamental leap forward for digital assistants and represents another important milestone to transform our digital lives.
Today’s assistants are useful, but ultimately still play a limited role in people’s lives. People use them to set timers and reminders, answer trivial questions, etc. We see a world where digital assistant play a bigger role, an intelligent role, where one day everything from our phones, to our fridge, to our sprinkler system will have some sort of intelligence to help us seamlessly interact with all the technology we use each day.
To understand where we are going with devices, it is important to understand how far we’ve come. It is hard to believe, when you think back to just a decade ago, how we used our phones. It was likely a feature phone, which was primarily used to make calls and use a limited number of apps. But I knew, we at Samsung knew, that there were greater possibilities for the mobile phone. During the early and mid-2000, I led the team at Samsung in creating the Mobile Intelligent Terminal by Samsung (MITs), which was an early generation of smartphones before the Galaxy S and Note series were finally born. Powered by open API, application eco-system and innovative touch UI, smartphone market has, ever since then, exploded and became a life-essential tool for everyone. It also brought new opportunities for businesses and developers.
I believe that we are now on the cusp of the next major tectonic shift. With our long legacy as the global smartphone leader, we’ve been bringing meaningful innovation and driving digital transformation for the industry, and we are excited to help lead the change during another revolutionary moment. Personally, I am excited to be part of this next great era and this shift is one of the reasons why we are motivated to continue to develop our intelligent assistant, Bixby.
We introduced Bixby to the world earlier this year with the launch of our flagship mobile devices, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the Note 8. Bixby is now available in over 200 different countries, with more than 10 million registered users. But this is just a start. When we launched Bixby, we focused on how it could help people with getting the most out of their smartphones and apps to make their life easier. We integrated a few close partner applications on the device to make those devices more intelligent. We created multi-step, and cross-app capabilities that have allowed more than millions of Bixby users get things done faster and easier, but it is just a stepping stone for us.
Now, we are ready to take Bixby to the next level. Bixby 2.0 is a bold reinvention of the platform. A reinvention aimed at transforming basic digital assistants from a novelty to an intelligence tool that is a key part of everyone’s daily life.
Bixby 2.0 will be ubiquitous, available on any and all devices. This means having the intelligence of Bixby, powered by the cloud, act as the control hub of your device ecosystem, including mobile phones, TVs, refrigerators, home speakers, or any other connected technology you can imagine. Soon, developers will be able to put their services on any and all devices and will not have to reinvent their services each time they support a new device.
It will be more personal, with enhanced natural language capabilities for more natural commands and complex processing, so it can really get to know and understand not only who you are, but who members of your family are, and tailor its response and actions appropriately.
And finally, and most importantly, Bixby 2.0 will be open. We know Samsung cannot deliver on this paradigm shift by ourselves – it can only happen if we all, across all industries, work together, in partnership. Starting today, we’re announcing our first private beta program with Bixby SDK, which will be available for select developers. We will work as one team, innovating, collaborating, and bringing Bixby 2.0 to life. Over time, we will increase the number of participants in the beta, and ultimately make the Bixby SDK available to all developers.
Bixby 2.0 will ultimately be a marketplace, for intelligence. A new channel for developers to reach users with their service, not just on mobile devices, but through all devices. Over time, we will rollout variety of revenue models to maximize our partners’ business opportunities in this new paradigm. Hopefully making it as fruitful as the move from feature to smartphones was for our partners.

Samsung Shares Vision for an Open and Connected IoT Experience at Samsung Developer Conference 2017

Introducing new strategy to unify IoT services under SmartThings, in addition to the next-generation Bixby 2.0, and advanced AR capabilities on more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung Electronics today shared its vision for a connected world with a widely accessible and open Internet of Things (IoT) platform. At the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2017, held at Moscone West, Samsung also announced that it will unite its IoT services under SmartThings, announce Bixby 2.0 with an SDK and advance its leadership in augmented reality (AR), to usher in an era of connected, seamless experiences that span across devices, software and services.
“At Samsung, we’re constantly innovating in order to deliver smarter, connected experiences for our consumers. Now we’re taking a big step forward with our open IoT platform, intelligent ecosystem and AR capabilities,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “Through an extensive open collaboration with our business partners and developers, we are unlocking a gateway to an expanded ecosystem of interconnected and intelligent services that will simplify and enrich everyday life for our consumers.”
Samsung also demonstrated Project Ambience, a small dongle or chip that can be applied into a wide variety of objects, allowing them to seamlessly connect, and create a ubiquitous Bixby experience. This new concept reflects the next generation of IoT, that of the “Intelligence of Things,” which combines IoT and intelligence to make your life easier.

Democratizing the Internet of Things

Samsung is combining its existing IoT services—SmartThings, Samsung Connect, and ARTIK—into one united IoT platform: SmartThings Cloud, which will provide a single, powerful cloud-based hub that can seamlessly connect and control IoT-enabled products and services from a unified touchpoint. SmartThings Cloud will build one of the world’s largest IoT ecosystems, and will provide the infrastructure for a connected consumer experience that is innovative, versatile and holistic.
With SmartThings Cloud, developers will have access to one cloud API across all SmartThings-compatible products to build their connected solutions and bring them to more people. It will also provide secure interoperability and services for business developing commercial and industrial IoT solutions.

Next-Generation Intelligence

Samsung is moving intelligence beyond devices and into an ubiquitous, personal and open ecosystem with introduction of Bixby 2.0 with SDK, integrated with Viv technologies.
Bixby 2.0 will be available on a variety of devices including Samsung Smart TV and Family Hub refrigerator. Now, Bixby will sit at the center of consumers’ intelligent ecosystem. Bixby 2.0 will introduce deep linking capabilities, and enhanced natural language abilities—to better recognize individual users, and create a predictive, personalized experience that better anticipate their needs.
In order to build this faster, easier and more powerful intelligent assistant platform, Samsung will provide the tools to bring Bixby 2.0 into a wider number of applications and services. The Bixby SDK will be available to select developers and through a private beta program, with general availability coming in the near future.

Leadership in Augmented Reality

Building upon Samsung’s heritage of creating pioneering technology that delivers incredible experiences to unlock new realities such as VR, the company is committed to continuing to advance technologies in AR. Through a partnership with Google, developers will be able to use the ARCore SDK to bring AR to millions of Samsung consumers on the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note8. This strategic partnership with Google offers new business opportunities for developers, and a new platform for creating immersive new experiences for consumers.

Samsung Reveals the Speakers and Topics at the Forefront of Connected Thinking for Samsung Developer Conference 2017

Samsung Electronics released its keynote speaker and program schedule for Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), the arena that brings together some of the world’s most prominent innovators, entrepreneurs, artists and storytellers that are shaping the future of connected thinking and technology.
SDC 2017 will feature a special keynote from DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, who will unveil Samsung’s vision to connect all devices and services in an intuitive way and discuss a new initiative to create a seamless cloud experience for users. Additional notable keynote speakers include Samsung Electronics Executive Vice Presidents Injong Rhee, Head of R&D, Software & Services of Mobile Communications Business and Eui Suk Chung, Head of Service Intelligence of Mobile Communications Business.
