MWC 2017: представлен новый планшет Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

На выставке MWC 2017, которая проходит в испанской Барселоне, состоялась официальная презентация планшета Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. Новое устройство поддерживает работу со стилусом S Pen, а в качестве аксессуаров к нему прилагается чехол-подставка и клавиатура с магнитным креплением на нижней грани корпуса.
Гаджет оснащён впечатляющим по качеству 9,7-дюймовым Super AMOLED дисплеем с разрешением 2048x1536 пикселей, 4-ядерным процессором Snapdragon 820 с рабочей частотой 2,15 ГГц, 4Гб оперативной и 32Гб физической памяти с поддержкой расширения через microSD-карты объёмом до 256Гб. Для повышения безопасности в домашнюю клавишу встроен сканер отпечатков пальцев.
Работает планшет под управлением операционной системы Android 7.0 Nougat. На тыльной панели размещена 13-Мп основная камера с автофокусом и вспышкой, спереди - 5-Мп сэлфи-камера. Ёмкость батареи составляет 6000 мАч, имеется поддержка технологии быстрой зарядки через разъём USB Type-C.
Из беспроводных подключений следует отметить наличие Wi-Fi (802.11ac), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS и ГЛОНАСС, опционально LTE.
Особое внимание было уделено звуковому тракту (в корпус встроено аж 4 динамика особой конструкции). Эту часть разрабатывал легендарный аудиобрэнд AKG, который входит в конгломерат Harman International, приобретёный Samsung в конце 2016 года.
Отныне флагманские модели смартфонов и планшетов семейства Galaxy будут оснащаться акустическими системами и наушниками (если таковые будут входить в комплект поставки) производства Harman/AKG.

A Signature Design

The Galaxy Tab S3’s minimal and refined design was achieved by affixing glossy, reinforced glass panels to an aluminum frame, resulting in a seamless aesthetic.
The tablet is available in a choice of either understated silver or black, to suit the refined tastes of modern millennials, and its soft-colored cover accessories, available in black, white and green, feature powdery matte finishing to complete the device’s stylish look.

Samsung optimized the Galaxy Tab S3’s entertainment features with a series of first-of-their-kind enhancements affecting everything from the device’s audio, video and gaming capabilities to its new and improved battery and cameras.
The tablet’s 9.7-inch, Super AMOLED screen, image-optimizing mDNle technology, speedy and efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM allow users to enjoy content in lifelike HDR, as well as 4K, wherever they go. The Galaxy Tab S3 also supports fast charging, and offers a stout 12 hours of video playback when fully charged. In addition, the device’s upgraded 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras ensure crisp and clear photos.
Of course, properly enjoying great video requires excellent sound, which is why the Galaxy Tab S3 features Quad Stereo-Sound Speakers. A Redefined S Pen

The S Pen boasts a fine, 0.7mm tip and industry-leading sensitivity, recognizing 4,096 levels of pressure. Slide-proof and measuring just over 9mm thick, the S Pen provides a comfortable and stable grip that allows for a more natural handwriting experience overall.
Useful S Pen features include Screen-off Memos, Samsung Notes and Air Command. Samsung Notes consolidates the functions of four Samsung notetaking applications in one simple app, while Air Command provides convenient access to a wide array of tools such as Translate, Magnify, Glance and Smart Select, which now lets users create, save and share their own animated GIFs.
Users may also utilize the implement’s handy PDF Annotation function to get work done on the go, or unleash their creativity with artistic apps such as Recolor, ArtRage and Autodesk’s SketchBook Pro, as well as PEN.UP, a global art community for Galaxy users, and the music-creation app Soundcamp.

Линейка включает две версии с различными диагоналями дисплея и аппаратного оснащения.
Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6 комплектуется 10,6-дюймовым TFT-дисплеем с разрешением Full HD (1920 х 1280 пикселей), 5-Мп фронтальной камерой (сэлфи-камера отсутствует). Модификация имеет процессор Intel Core M3 седьмого поколения, 4Гб ОЗУ, 64 или 128 Гб встроенной флэш-памяти с возможностью расширения карточками microSD объёмом до 256 ГБ.
Samsung Galaxy Book 12 является более дорогой и продвинутой моделью. Он получил 12-дюймовый Super AMOLED-дисплей с разрешением 2160 х 1440 пикселей, 5-Мп фронтальную и 13-Мп основную камеры. The Galaxy Book – A Powerful, Portable PC Experience

Samsung’s Galaxy Book 2-in-1 tablet features Windows 10 integration for full PC functionality and a host of other advancements, including a refined S Pen, to offer mobile professionals a productivity powerhouse that allows them to maximize their efficiency whenever and wherever they wish.

Optimized for Efficiency

The Galaxy Book is available in 10.6- and 12-inch variations and features a premium, full-metal design that’s thin and lightweight. This makes the device highly portable, and equally suitable for getting work done in the boardroom and on the road.
Available in black or white, the included keyboard cover is a delight to work with, and comes complete with a large touchpad that offers plenty of room to comfortably maneuver through files or tabs. Both Galaxy Book editions are powered by seventh-generation Intel® Core™ processors that provide premium, PC-level performance. The 10.6-inch edition comes equipped with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage, while the 12-inch model is available in a choice of either 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage capacity. Both models allow users to add additional storage via microSD card.
In addition, the 12-inch Galaxy Book’s vibrant Super AMOLED display and the 10.6-inch edition’s TFT screen both support 4K video playback and provide ample room to scan documents on the go or binge a favorite TV show. Their long-lasting batteries charge fast, providing up to 10 hours of power for the 10.6-inch model and up to 10.5 hours for the 12-inch, giving users more freedom to be productive and enjoy their content uninterrupted.

Handy S Pen Integration

One of the Galaxy Book’s most efficient and fun features is its new, multifunctional S Pen, which helps users adopt a more convenient and hands-on approach to their work.

Samsung Electronics today announced the Samsung Gear VR with Controller powered by Oculus, the company’s first-ever Gear VR headset with a controller. The Gear VR with Controller expands Samsung’s virtual reality ecosystem and makes it easier for consumers to enjoy Gear VR experiences. For optimal play and convenience, the Controller features an ergonomic, curved design, offering convenient one-hand control and better motion interaction with minimized head movement for a comfortable user experience. In addition, the Controller provides users with:

На пресс-конференции, состоявшейся 26 февраля в Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (Барселона, Испания), Samsung Electronics представил законченное портфолио продуктов для обеспечения мобилной связи поколения 5G. Линейка аппаратно-программных средств включает потребительские устройства для фиксированного беспроводного доступа, базовой приёмно-передающей станции (5G Access Unit), процессора нового поколения и многое другое. Коммерческие версии для предварительных испытаний уже развёртываются по всему миру.
На пресс-конференции, помимо докладчиков от Samsung, выступал представитель одного из крупнейших американских сотовых операторов Verizon, который подтвердил, что запуск первой очереди сети мобильной связи 5G уже подготовлен для испытаний в нескольких регионах США, включая столицу Вашингтон.
Сети ультраскоростной мобильной связи, помимо Америки, Samsung также разворачивает на территории Южной Кореи и Японии.

Samsung Announces Complete Portfolio of Commercial 5G Products and Solutions

At a press conference held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya today, Samsung Electronics unveiled its end-to-end portfolio of 5G mobile network products and solutions for 2017. Showcased products included consumer devices for fixed wireless access connectivity, a 5G Radio Base Station (5G Access Unit), Next-Generation Core Network infrastructure and more. With pre-commercial versions of the equipment already under deployment in trial networks across the globe, Samsung’s commercial 5G portfolio is backed by a continually growing foundation of experience, knowledge and concrete trial results.
“Samsung has been focused on 5G R&D for nearly half a decade, and this portfolio launch represents the culmination of a lot of hard work and industry engagement,” said Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, Executive Vice President and Head of Next Generation Communications Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “With pre-commercial deployment of our 5G products already underway in the US, we’re starting to see some of the earliest evidence of the potential for new and compelling 5G-driven services – it will be exciting to see it evolve as we move forward on our roadmap.”

At the Network Edge

While Samsung has been a long-time vendor of 3G and LTE home femto products, Samsung’s compact 5G Home Router (Customer Premise Equipment, or CPE) represents exploration of new territory – from extending the mobile network towards planting a new fixed wireless network. The 5G Home Router will provide direct and straightforward connectivity to the wireless network, with the simple placement of the 5G Home Router in a window facing a nearby 5G Radio Base Station. A peak data rate of up to 1Gbps will allow service providers to dimension networks that provide an attractive alternative to often-costly FTTH deployments.
The 5G Radio Base Station itself is a natural extension of today’s LTE small cells, designed to be installed in a dense configuration that allows for very high network capacities. The system supports 28GHz mmWave spectrum – a common frequency in leading 5G markets – and is capable of providing up to 10Gbps among devices within its coverage range. With an emphasis on compact size and easy installation, Samsung aims to make 5G network deployments less resource-intensive compared to today’s LTE small cell deployments.

A Fully Virtualized Core Network

As the centralized point of control and direction for network traffic, the core network plays a critical role, and Samsung’s Next-Generation Core Network infrastructure provides a significant leap in performance and flexibility in line with the requirements and demands of emerging connectivity use cases. With a shift to a software-driven architecture, the virtualized core gains the ability to flexibly split network resources, and even individual network functions, in order to maintain peak operational efficiencies. One example of this is the ability to allow data-heavy internet-bound traffic to exit the service provider’s network closer to the user, reducing the potential for congestion within the operator’s network, while potentially improving service responsiveness for users.

Network-wide Management Capabilities

The shift towards a virtualized, or software-driven, network architecture brings a greater degree of complexity in managing the various systems as well as the highly dynamic configuration and traffic routing potential. By leveraging similarly powerful Maintenance and Operation (MANO) systems, as well as localized virtual Element Management Systems (EMS), Samsung can ensure that each component of the network is running at peak efficiency, and in full coordination with the network overall. The network management systems are designed to handle the complexities of next-generation architectures while providing network operations staff with intuitive controls to manage and fine-tune service delivery and network performance.

From Here to Commercial Launch

With pre-commercial versions of these products and solutions already under deployment with operators in the US, Korea and Japan, Samsung’s 5G product portfolio represents the final leg of the journey towards industry 5G adoption. Leveraging additional experience from trials planned for 2017, Samsung’s 5G products will drive the first wave of commercial 5G deployments and will help to ensure a successful and smooth introduction of entirely new services and use cases as the mobile industry ushers in a new era of connectivity. Going forward, Samsung will focus on extending its 5G portfolio with support for Below 6GHz 5G connectivity. Adopting 3GPP Release-15 specifications is another priority, and Samsung’s 5G portfolio is designed to be upgradable to 3GPP standards as they are finalized. Уже в начале следующей недели посетители выставки MWC 2017 смогут увидеть 4 новых проекта Samsung в сегменте дополненной и виртуальной реальности. Всё это разрабтки креативной лаборатории C-Lab (Creative Lab).
Напомним, что C-Lab – это одна из внутренних инициатив южнокорейского гиганта, призванная помочь сотрудникам корпорации в воплощении своих даже самых необычных идей в реальных продуктах. Одним из наиболее известных проектов C-Lab является смарт-ремень Welt, для продвижения которого впоследствии была создана отдельная компания.

Первая разработка получила название Relúmĭno. Это визуальное ПО для гарнитуры виртуальной реальности Samsung Gear VR, призванное помочь слабовидящим людям полноценно смотреть телевизор и читать различную литературу. «Полноценным просмотром», по версии разработчиков, считаются «новые уровни чёткости». Особенность ПО в умных алгоритмах визуализации и перегруппировки изображений с целью компенсации слепых зон и искажений, которым подвержены люди с метаморфопсией.

Следующее устройство ещё более необычно. Оно называется Monitorless.
Как можно видеть на изображении и сопроводительном видео, оно выглядит как обычные очки, но на деле это высокотехнологичное носимое устройство, которое является компаньоном ПК или смартфона. По задумке создателей, его можно использовать как для работы с различными офисными приложениями, так и для игр. В данном случае очки выступают лишь средством воспроизведения потокового видео, а исполнение программ происходит на ПК или мобильном гаджете. Для более глубокого погружения предусмотрен специальный режим виртуальной реальности. Для других сценариев и приложений, когда требуется тесное взаимодействиями с объектами реального мира, предусмотрен режим дополненной реальности.

Разработка под названием VuildUs предназначена главным образом для продумывания домашнего интерьера. Оно состоит из панорамной камеры, позволяющей снимать панорамное видео с охватом 360° и сопутствующего ПО. Идея состоит в том, чтобы используя возможности аппаратно-программного комплекса VuildUs создать виртуальную копию своего дома/квартиры, а затем по своему вкусу обставить его виртуальной мебелью. Нечто подобное в прошлом предлагала IKEA. Но инженеры Samsung пошли ещё дальше. Разработанное ими ПО не просто берёт на себя роль замерщика и подбирает мебель в точности по размерам того пространства, где она будет установлена, но и позволяет совершать покупки этих вещей непосредственно в приложении.

traVRer — последняя из новых разработок, которые войдут в экспозицию Samsung C-Lab на выставке MWC 2017. Это платформа виртуальной реальности для VR-экскурсий по мировым достопримечательностям. Работает она аналогично сервисам Google Street View и Matterport, позволяя перенестись в самые отдалённые уголки планеты, не покидая уютного кресла своего дома.

Все четыре вышеописанных проекта будет демонстрироваться в рамках обособленного стенда "Платформа идей для бизнеса" наряду с другими перспективными концептуальными разработками, которые в ближайшие годы могут быть воплощены в реальных продуктах.

Samsung C-Lab to Exhibit New VR Projects at MWC 2017

Samsung Electronics announced that it will showcase four innovative Creative Lab (C-Lab) projects, delivering a broad spectrum of experiences via Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), two of the most significant current technology trends, at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The projects will be exhibited at 4 Years From Now (4YFN), a platform for startup businesses, with potential to exhibit at MWC four years from now, to present as well as connect and network with investors. Created in December 2012, C-Lab is an internal venture incubation program that encourages a creative corporate culture and nurtures innovative ideas from Samsung employees. The program supports the development of inventing ideas from all areas of the business.
The products on display will include a smart aid for visually impaired people, monitorless PC viewing glasses, a VR home furnishing solution and a 360-degree travel experience platform.

Relúmĭno

Relúmĭno is a visual aid application that works incorporated with Gear VR for near blind and visually impaired people which enable them to read books and watch TV with new levels of clarity. It works as a mobile app that when inserted into the Samsung Gear VR can enhance visuals and text so that they can be enjoyed in better quality. The technology even has the ability to remap blind spots by displacing images and uses an Amlser grid chart to correct distorted images caused by metamorphopsia. Relúmĭno enables visually challenged people to watch TV without using the expensive visual aids currently available in the market.

Monitorless

Monitorless is a remote-control VR/AR solution that enables consumers to use devices such as smartphones and PCs without a monitor. The solution consists of a special pair of glasses that resemble regular sunglasses. They are used to view content from other devices such as smartphones and PCs and can be used for both Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality functionality thanks to the electro chromic glass featured on the glasses. Monitorless addresses the fact that there isn’t enough AR and VR content currently available and also enables users to play high-capacity PC games on a mobile device.

VuildUs

VuildUs is a home interior and furnishing solution enables users to see what a new furniture purchase would look like and whether it would fit in the room before they buy it. It consists of a 360-degree depth camera and a mobile app for VR compatible devices. First, users connect both devices and scan their home using the camera. That data is used to build a VR version of the user’s home which the user can then enter when wearing a VR headset. They can view items of furniture in 3D, and buy it on the spot if they like how it looks in the room. The solution removes the need for measuring space before buying furniture because it enables them to see whether it would fit in real time.

traVRer

traVRer is a 360-degree video platform that enables users to experience realistic virtual travel before and after a real-life trip. Those using the platform are able to visit landmarks and famous places around the world but with the mood, noises and events captured. Users can switch seamlessly between different videos to go in different directions or see the place at a specific time of day – all without the need to navigate menus for alternative video options.

“We continue to support new ideas and creativity, especially when these traits could lead to new experiences for consumers,” said Lee Jae Il, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Creativity & Innovation Center. “These latest examples of C-Lab projects are a reminder that we have some talented entrepreneurial people who are unafraid to break new ground. We’re looking forward to further exploring novel applications for VR and 360-degree video because there are endless possibilities in this area.”

The C-Lab projects will be exhibited at Samsung Electronics’ booth (4YFN G1 in the Fira Barcelona).

Некоторые зарубежные СМИ утверждают, что на крупнейшей международной выставке производителей мобильных устройств MWC 2017 в Барселоне (Испания) Samsung может представить свой самый мощный планшет, работающий на последней версии ОС Windows.
Предположительно гаджет получит название Galaxy Book Pro и будет наделён топовыми характеристиками. Эксперты предполагают, что эта модель призвана конкурировать с последними iPad Pro американской корпорации Apple.
Чтобы успешно бороться с конкурентами, Samsung может наделить свой девайс эксклюзивными опциями, например поддержкой нового интерактивного стилуса S Pen. Кроме того, корпус планшета получит конфигурацию трансформера, что поможет использовать этот портативный компьютер в различных сценариях.
Напомним, что выставка MWC (Mobile World Congress) ежегодно проводится в Барселоне (Испания). На этот раз мероприятие намечено на 27 фервраля - 2 марта.

TIZEN-трэкер Samsung Gear Fit Pro представят на MWC 2017

Samsung Electronics, как ожидается, представит свой новый фитнес-трекер Gear Fit Pro на предстоящей выставке Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017), которая стартует в Барселоне 27 февраля. Там же должен быть представлен новый планшетный ПК Galaxy Tab S3.
Южнокорейский техногигант недавно подал заявку на регистрацию товарного знака для носимого устройства в патентные ведомства Республики Корея и Евросоюза - обычный ход перед выпуском новых видов продукции на рынок. Никаких сведений о спецификациях нового трэкера ещё нет, но портал The Investor сообщает, что почти не вызывает сомнений совместимость этих TIZEN-устройств как с Android-смартфонами, так и девайсами Apple iPhone, работающих на iOS, чем уже могут похвастаться смарт-часы Samsung Gear S3.
С 2014 года Samsung создаёт платформу мониторинга состояния здоровья, получившую название Simband. Она собирает данные о физической активности и работе органов человека с помощью мобильных и носимых устройств. Накопленная информация обрабатывается в облачном сервисе и выдаёт рекомендации по корректировке тренировок и другие полезные советы.
Как уже упоминалось ранее, на MWC 2017 Samsung также намерен рассекретить свой новый планшет линейки Galaxy Tab S.
Пресс-конференция техногиганта состоится за день до официального открытия выставки мобильных технологий в Барселоне.

Samsung официально подтвердил дату пресс-конференции на MWC 2017

Накануне в официальной twitter-ленте Samsung Mobile появилось сообщение с электронной визиткой, подтверждающее дату пресс-конференции на крупнейшем ежегодном мероприятии производителей мобильной электроники MWC в Барселоне (Испания).
Как следует из этого краткого анонса, в рамках выставки MWC 2017 будет представлено некое устройство, предположительный профиль которого изображён на иллюстрации. Что это за гаджет, не совсем понятно. Некоторые увидели намёки на изогнутые боковые грани, причём их конфигурация отличатся от уже привычных флагманских коммуникаторов серии Samsung Galaxy edge.
Интриги добавляет тот факт, что представители Samsung ранее официально опровергли слухи, что грядущий Galaxy S8 будет представлен на MWC. Так что, скорее всего, речь идёт о каком-то другом гаджете.
Профильные СМИ уже начали гадать, что бы это могло быть. Кто-то говорит о новом поколении планшетов (скорее всего речь идёт о Galaxy Tab S3), а другие упоминают о флагманском смартфоне на операционной системе TIZEN, поскольку осенью 2016 года в прессе мелькнула информация о возможном фаворите на этой ОС, который должен получить маркировку Samsung Z9. Однако эксперт нашего блога Николай Изнов сомневается насчёт запуска TIZEN-флагмана, так как более продвинутая версия TIZEN 3.0 вышла совсем недавно и разработчики ещё не успели создать необходимое количество приложений для удовлетворения потребностей большей части потребительской аудитории.
По мнению эксперта, проектирование Samsung Z9 может вестись просто для подстраховки, на случай внезапного "развода" Samsung и Google. Однако никаких признаков такого "развода" не наблюдается. Наоборот, два IT-гиганта недавно заявили о намерении сотрудничать в области создания искусственного интеллекта для последующей имплантации в различные электронные смарт-устройства. К тому же представители Samsung не раз декларировали своё намерение продвигать TIZEN в развивающихся странах с помощью сверхоступных по цене гаджетов.
Более того, наличие секретного соглашения с Google о разделе рынка мобильных ОС, которое действует до 2024 года, вряд ли позволит Samsung вывести TIZEN-смартфоны на рынки наиболее развитых государств в обозримой перспективе. И, ко всему прочему, наиболее конкурентной версией TIZEN OS должна стать 4.0, анонс которой ожидается не ранее осени текущего года. Помимо впечатляющего списка возможностей, главной её особенностью станет кроссплатформенная поддержка различных экосистем IoT (интернета вещей), которая, по мнению специалистов, может "положить на лопатки" другие операционные платформы.
Интернет-адрес прямой трансляции пресс-конференции Samsung всё же намекает на презентацию в рамках MWC 2017 устройства из семейства Galaxy (похоже что в приглашении есть намёк на планшет SGT S3), а это почти наверняка будет девайс на Android (брэнд Galaxy намертво связан с этой ОС от Google).
Что ж, вскоре мир узнает, что за сюрприз готовит Samsung на грядущем мероприятии в столице Каталонии, ждать которого осталось всего лишь 25 дней...
