Аппарат получил максимальные оценки среди всех протестированных на сегодняшний день мобильных трубок топ-класса.
Начиная с модели Galaxy Note4, которая вышла 5 лет назад, южнокорейский вендор неизменно получает высшие баллы за качество экранов своих флагманских смартфонов, которые не удаётся превзойти ни одному конкуренту.
Любой уважающий себя OEM-производитель мечтает заполучить в своё распоряжение именно дисплеи производства Samsung, который уже много лет доминирует в этом сегменте (более 93% AMOLED-дисплеев малого и среднего размера производится южнокорейским техногигантом).

DisplayMate: Samsung Galaxy Note9 has the best display ever

Everyone interested in mobile phones knows that Samsung makes one of the best - if not the best - OLED panels. Every Samsung flagship for years has offered great viewing experience, so no wonder every OEM wants to get its hands on the Korean firm's crisp OLED displays.
But how good is the recently announced Galaxy Note9's panel? Well, according to DisplayMate, it's the best so far. Just like every Samsung flagship since the Note 4. For yet another year the Korean company has managed to outdo itself.
As always, the Note9 went under extensive testing and broke a few records along the way. Well, "a few" is an understatement. One of the key findings in the review says that the panel reaches a maximum brightness of 710 nits in manual mode and 1,050 nits in automatic mode. It also covers 113% DCI-P3 and 142% of the sRGB color space and has the highest absolute color accuracy.
Interestingly, the Note9's display offers the lowest reflectance (4.4%) ever recorded as well.

Южнокорейский техногигант констатировал, что во 2-м квартале операционная прибыль мобильного подразделения достигла 2,67 триллионов вон (2,36 миллиарда долларов США), что на 34% меньше, чем годом ранее. Отраслевые наблюдатели объяснили слабые показатели тем, что якобы продажи Galaxy S9 оказались далеки от желаемого уровня. 
«Когда мы смотрим на тенденцию продаж Galaxy S9, эта цифра растёт, а в некоторых регионах уровень реализации даже опережает Galaxy S8», - сказал президент мобильного и IT-направления Samsung Electronics Ко Донг-джин (в англоязычных СМИ известен как DJ Koh). 
«Galaxy S8 был выпущен в апреле прошлого года, а Galaxy S9 поступил в продажу в марте. Когда мы смотрим на результаты первых 6-ти месяцев, то отмечаем рост продаж на 6% », - сказал топ-менеджер. «Ещё рано судить об успехе или неуспехе (Galaxy S9), потому что это станет ясно в конце года».
Ко Донг-джин добавил, что Galaxy Note9 будет продаваться лучше, чем Galaxy Note8 за счёт его первоклассных характеристик, включая радикально улучшенный стилус.
«Galaxy Note 9 обладает лучшими параметрами, комплектуется специальным электронным пером S-pen, а также с интеллектуальной камерой. Мы надеемся, что продажи превысят достижения Galaxy Note8», - сказал Ко. 
Руководитель мобильного бизнеса Samsung также сказал, что инженеры уверены в безопасности самой ёмкой батареи на 4000 мАч, установленной в Galaxy Note9. Как известно, производство позапрошлогоднего флагмана Galaxy Note7 было приостановлено из-за сообщений о проблемах с аккумуляторами. 
«Батарея в Galaxy Note 9 безопасна как никогда ранее. Пользователям больше не нужно беспокоиться об этом», - сказал Ко. 
Топ-менеджер также отметил, что возможности стилуса смартфонов серии Galaxy Note будут со временем расширяться.
Касательно конкуренции на мировом рынке, Ко Донг-джин сказал, что вендор продолжит выпуск смартфонов среднего класса, чтобы укрепить свое лидерство. 
«В Индии Xiamoi стал игроком №1 в 4-м квартале прошлого года по количеству проданных единиц. Но доход также важен. С точки зрения продаж Samsung является ведущим игроком в Индии. Samsung также опередил Xiaomi на этом рынке по объёму поставок во 2-м квартале этого года», - сказал Ко. 
«Что касается Китая, то это огромный рынок, который мы не можем потерять», - резюмировал глава Samsung Mobile.

Samsung’s sales of Note9 likely to beat predecessor

Samsung Electronics said on Aug. 13 the newly introduced Galaxy Note9 is expected to beat the predecessor in terms of sales and claimed the sales of the Galaxy S9 released earlier this year were not weak as suggested by the industry watchers.
Samsung showcased the Galaxy Note9 smartphone last week, which is its latest flagship equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery and Bluetooth-powered stylus. The top end version comes with a whopping 512 GB storage capacity.
The Korean tech giant saw its second-quarter operating profit for the IT and mobile business reach 2.67 trillion won (US$2.36 billion), down 34 percent from a year earlier. Industry watchers attributed the weak performance to lackluster sales of the Galaxy S9.
“When we look at the trend of the Galaxy S9 sales, the figure has been increasing, and in some regions, the performance even outpaced the Galaxy S8,” Samsung Electronics President Koh Dong-jin said. 
“The Galaxy S8 was released in April last year, and the Galaxy S9 went on sales in March. When we look at the first six months, sales rather increased by 6 percent,” Koh said. “It is not too late to make a judgment (on the Galaxy S9) at the end of the year.”
Koh added the Galaxy Note 9 will sell better than the Galaxy Note8 as well on the back of its top-notch specifications, including the improved stylus.
“The Galaxy Note9 boasts the very best performance with the specialized S-pen, as well as the intelligent camera. We hope the sales (of the new device) will outpace the Galaxy Note8,” Koh said. 
The head of Samsung’s mobile business also said engineers are confident in the safety of the 4,000 mAh battery in the Galaxy Note9. The production of the Galaxy Note7 was earlier suspended due to reports of batteries catching fire.
“The battery in the Galaxy Note9 is safer than ever. Users do not have to worry about the batteries anymore,” Koh said. 
Koh also said the stylus pen of the Galaxy Note smartphones will continue to evolve further down the road. 
As for the competition in the global market, he said it will continue to release mid-range smartphones to solidify its leadership.
“In India, Xiamoi became the No.1 player in the fourth quarter last year in terms of units sold. But revenue is also important. In terms of sales, Samsung is the leading player in India. Samsung also outpaced Xiaomi in the market in terms of shipment volume in the second quarter as well,” Koh said. 
“In terms of its size, China is a market we cannot give up,” he said.

9-я инкарнация Galaxy Note с батареей рекордной ёмкости выйдет на глобальный рынок 24 августа. Предварительные заказы в Южной Корее будут открыты уже завтра, в понедельник 13 августа. Цена на 128-гигабайтную версию Note9 установлена в этой стране на уровне 1,09 миллиона вон (965 долларов США), а на версию с 512Гб флэш-памяти и 8Гб ОЗУ - 1,35 миллиона вон.
Отраслевые наблюдатели считают, что Samsung фокусируется на расширении объёма продаж новых премиальных моделей, предлагая их по более низким ценам, чем ожидалось.
"В условиях застоя на мировом рынке смартфонов, Samsung, похоже, засучил рукава, чтобы повысить спрос на эти продукты", - говорит инсайдер. Samsung seeks to recover sales volume with Note 9

Despite massive upgrades and a Bluetooth pen, Samsung Electronics appears to have set lower-than-expected prices for the newest Galaxy Note 9 as part of its sales expansion strategy to recover from poor S9 sales early this year, according to industry sources on Aug. 12. 
The ninth edition of the Galaxy Note series with a 4,000-miliamphere-hour battery for all-day performance will hit the market on Aug. 24 globally. Preorders for the phones will begin Aug. 13 in Korea.
The price of the 128-gigabyte Note 9 is set at 1.09 million won (US$965), while the 512-GB Note 9 costs 1.35 million won.
The 128-GB model’s price is unchanged from the 64-GB Note 8 price last year, despite the doubled storage volume and enhanced S Pen functions supported by Bluetooth technology. 
Industry watchers believe that Samsung is focusing on expanding the sales volume of the latest premium phones by offering them at lower prices than expected. They pointed out the South Korean tech giant’s poor sales with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ series in the first half of the year.  
“Amid the stagnant growth of the global smartphone market, Samsung seems to be rolling up its sleeves to fuel demand for new phones,” said an industry insider. “Offering the new high-tech S Pen functions and improved artificial intelligence features at such prices could prevent further falls in smartphones.”
Samsung reportedly aims to reach 12 million units in shipments of the Note 9, approximately 10 percent higher than shipments of its predecessor last year. 
After the Note 9 “Unpacked” event in New York on Thursday, preorders began in the US on Friday. 
Although the 128-GB model is set at $999.99, up from $929 for the Note 8, Samsung is offering 50 percent off or “buy one and get one free” promotions via American mobile carriers. 
Samsung might be benchmarking its rival Apple’s pricing strategy in the US market, some analysts say. Apple’s most expensive iPhone X is priced at $999, while the US tech firm is planning another expensive iPhone model - probably the iPhone X Plus - and two less expensive ones later this year. 
“We have different price strategies for each market and their conditions,” said a Samsung official. “While the lower-than-expected price strategy could be interpreted as a measure to improve sales, we can’t comment on the US strategy for now.”  
During a conference call on its second-quarter earnings, the company had announced that the Note 9 would be launched at “reasonable prices” to offer better prices in the sluggish market.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 can hit 6000 mAh battery prowess with Mophie's Juice Pack case

The Galaxy Note 9 is shaping up to have a better battery life than its predecessor, based solely on the 20% increase in mAh capacity, as well as the more frugal, second-gen 10nm chipset. Samsung still advertises it as an "all-day battery" phone, though, which is not what you'd expect from a 4000 mAh pack, but, hopefully, it means a day with heavy usage. 
That's the curse of modern smartphones with QHD+ display resolutions, so the news from Mophie that it will be releasing its acclaimed Juice Pack battery case for the Note 9, is very welcome. Four things to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 event

It’s August, which means two things: lots of tweets bemoaning the impending end of summer (there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the sun, folks!), and a new Samsung Galaxy Note device — in this case, the Galaxy Note 9, which Samsung is expected to announce on August 9th at its Galaxy Unpacked event.
Samsung will officially announce the Note 9 on Thursday, despite the fact that it feels like almost every detail of the phone has throughly leaked at this point, including several details that have come straight from Samsung itself. Here’s what we’re expecting to see:
The star of Thursday’s show is set to be Samsung’s latest stylus-equipped flagship, the Galaxy Note 9. Like this year’s Galaxy S9, the Note 9 is expected to be an incremental update on last year’s Note 8, keeping roughly the same design while adding new improvements and refinements. Sticking around are things like the dual camera system, the rear fingerprint sensor (albeit in an adjusted position), and the iris scanner, with Samsung specifically focusing on a few areas for improvement:

Upgraded S Pen: It wouldn’t be a new Note without a new S Pen, and Samsung is teasing some pretty big upgrades for this year’s model. A boost to accuracy and sensitivity seems like a safe bet, but the big changes could come in the addition of Bluetooth to the stylus, allowing it to be used as a remote control.
More battery life: Based on Samsung’s teasers for the Note 9, battery life is going to be a big selling point for the phone. Rumors suggest that the Note 9 might feature a 4,000 mAh battery.
More storage: Also leaked in Samsung’s promo video, the Note 9 will come with up to 512GB of on-board storage, which, when combined with a 512GB microSD card (the largest currently on the market), means that users will be able to pack a full terabyte of storage into their phones. Just don’t expect getting that amount of storage to come cheap — the 512GB version alone will be expensive, and that’s before you factor in another $350 or more for a 512GB card.
Better cameras: Given that it’s a new Samsung smartphone, expect there to be some upgrades to the camera, with a possible upgrade to the dual-aperture system that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S9.
Faster speeds: Like the Galaxy S9 before it, the Note 9 will likely feature an upgrade to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor, along with the chipmaker’s newest (and fastest) modem.
Fortnite: In case you’ve been living under a rock this year, Fortnite is the biggest game in the world — and the long-anticipated Android port may be a timed exclusive to the Galaxy Note 9, if the rumors are true.

GALAXY WATCH

The Note 9 isn’t the only thing Samsung has planned for Thursday, though. It seems that the company has a new smartwatch in the works: the Galaxy Watch, which appears to be breaking from away from the “Gear” naming scheme that Samsung has used in recent years and instead switching over to the better known Galaxy branding seen on Samsung’s smartphones and tablets.

It doesn’t sound like the naming change means big changes for the watch, though. Rumors say that the Galaxy Watch will still run TIZEN, like Samsung’s other smartwatches. Bixby is probably getting added though.

WIRELESS CHARGER DUO

Another product that has been essentially confirmed is a new Samsung wireless charger, capable of charging two devices at once — seemingly perfect to charge, say, a Galaxy Note 9 and a Galaxy Watch?

A BIXBY-POWERED SMART SPEAKER

Finally, we get to something that hasn’t completely leaked: Samsung’s long rumored Bixby-powered smart speaker to take on competitors like Amazon’s Alexa devices, Google Home, and Apple’s HomePod. The company has confirmed before that the device is in the works, and a recent report from the Wall Street Journal claimed that Samsung could be looking to announce it this month for $300.
