Samsung is madly happy with the "harmonious synergy" with Google. However, users of Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Watch4 do not share this optimism.

Some time ago, Samsung agreed to kill its own operating platform, TIZEN, in exchange for a "lucky chance" to become the hardware appendage of Google's IT monster. The south korean manufacturer has received tasty orders for the supply of semiconductors, displays and processors to american "partners" from Mountain View. However, the victims of this "super-profitable for shareholders" deal were the owners of the latest generation of smartphones and Galaxy smartwatches. In recent days, Internet resources and forums dedicated to mobile gadgets are full of messages about a growing avalanche of problems associated with gross software bugs on Android devices. The operating system from Google, which Samsung has been imposing on users of its mobile gadgets for many years, is causing more and more complaints for poor performance and leakage of personal data. For example, owners of Galaxy A and Galaxy M smartphones complain of frequent freezes followed by automatic reboots, which is extremely annoying. The problematic models include the Galaxy M30s, M31/M31s, Galaxy A50/50s and Galaxy A51, which became one of the best-selling smartphones of 2020.

The problem covering an increasing number of users has been noted for more than 2 months, but Samsung still has not made any official statements and has not explained the cause of the breakdowns. In their posts, many owners of the above smartphones complain that, in response to their requests, the manufacturer advises to visit a service center to replace the motherboard. Moreover, the repair is carried out at the expense of the owner of the device. Replacing the board will cost about 100 euros. Experts say that the motherboard failure is most likely due to a bug in the Android OS code and affects phones with proprietary Exynos 9610 and Exynos 9611 chipsets. Attempts to use typical solutions, such as resetting the device to factory settings, do not fix the problem. If Samsung does not respond to claims from its customers in the near time, the option of filing class actions and lengthy legal proceedings is not excluded.

Owners of the most expensive modifications of the latest Samsung's Galaxy Watch4 LTE and Galaxy Watch4 Classic LTE also faced no less serious problems. After Samsung and Google solemnly announced the transition of Galaxy smartwatches to the unpopular WearOS 3 platform (ex-Android Wear), the joy of this step among the googlefans gave way to disappointment. For example, in the discussion thread notebookchat.com, almost all messages from "happy owners" of Watch4 contain sharp criticism for software bugs that cause the watch to overheat and lose its charge within a few hours if the 4G/LTE modem is activated. The indignation of users of the most expensive Samsung wearable devices is understandable, because they paid a considerable amount precisely for the opportunity to use their gadgets without being tied to a smartphone. In some cases, the Galaxy Wath4 overheats so much that wearers have to remove them from their wrist to avoid scalding. Nothing like this was observed in previous generations of Samsung's TIZEN-powered smartwatches. Every day, the number of complaints about this problem is only growing, as evidenced by posts on the Reddit portal and the Samsung Community forum.

In response to a request from the editors of the notebookcheck.com portal, Samsung replied that "they are collecting statistics to analyze a possible problem." However, the question is, why are such problems in principle possible in top-end devices on WearOS 3, which was presented to us as a "revolution in the world of wearable gadgets"?

Another critical article concerning the big problems due to the transition from the TIZEN platform to WearOS appeared on the phoneswiki.com portal, and a little earlier, the russian tech reviewer Eldar Murtazin also expressed dissatisfaction with this step by Samsung in his Galaxy Watch4 review.

In pursuit of the golden calf in order to satisfy the growing appetite of shareholders by surrendering their positions in the software direction in favor of Google, Samsung Mobile division has clearly forgotten about the interests of ordinary users, who are in fact the true shareholders of the south korean tech giant. В последние дни интернет-ресурсы и форумы, посвящённые мобильным гаджетам, пестрят сообщениями о растущей лавине проблем, связанных с грубыми программными ошибками на Android-устройствах. Операционная система от Google, которую Samsung уже долгие годы навязывает пользователям своих мобильных гаджетов, вызывает всё больше нареканий за плохую работу и утечку персональных данных к злоумышленникам. Например, владельцы смартфонов линеек Galaxy A и Galaxy M жалуются на частые "зависания" с последующей автоматической перезагрузкой, что вызывает крайнее раздражение. Среди проблемных моделей числятся Galaxy M30s, M31/M31s, Galaxy A50/50s и Galaxy A51, который стал одним из самых продаваемых смартфонов 2020 года.

Охватывающая всё большее количество пользователей проблема отмечается уже на протяжении более 2-х месяцев, однако Samsung до сих пор не сделал никаких официальных заявлений и не объяснил причину неполадок. В своих постах многие владельцы указанных выше смартфонов сетуют, что в ответ на их обращения производитель советует посетить сервисный центр для замены материнской платы. Причём ремонт производится за счёт владельца устройства. Замена платы обойдётся примерно в 100 евро. Эксперты говорят, что выход материнских плат из строя, скорее всего, происходит из-за ошибки в коде Android OS и затрагивает телефоны с фирменными чипсетами Exynos 9610 и Exynos 9611. Попытки использовать типовые решения, вроде сброса устройства до заводских настроек, не устраняют проблему. Если Samsung в ближайшее время не отреагирует на претензии своих клиентов, не исключается вариант подачи коллективных исков и длительных судебных разбирательств.

С не менее серьёзными проблемами столкнулись также владельцы самых дорогих модификаций новейших смарт-часов Samsung Galaxy Watch4 LTE и Galaxy Watch4 Classic LTE. После того, как Samsung и Google торжественно объявили о переходе смарт-часов Galaxy на непопулярную платформу WearOS 3 (экс-Android Wear), радость по этому поводу среди "гуглофанов" сменилась разочарованием. Например, в дискуссионной ветке notebookchat.com, почти все сообщения от "счастливых владельцев" Watch4 содержат резкую критику за "программные косяки", из-за которых часы сильно перегреваются и теряют заряд в течение нескольких часов в случае активации модема 4G/LTE. Возмущение пользователей самых дорогих носимых устройств Samsung можно понять, ведь они заплатили немалую сумму именно за возможность использовать свои гаджеты без жёсткой привязки к смартфону. В некоторых случаях перегрев Galaxy Wath4 настолько сильный, что владельцам приходится снимать их со своего запястья, чтобы избежать ожога. Очередная разгромная статья, касающаяся больших проблем из-за перехода с платформы TIZEN на WearOS появилась на портале phoneswiki.com, а чуть ранее российский технообозреватель Эльдар Муртазин также выразил недовольство таким шагом Samsung в своём обзоре Galaxy Watch4. 

Погнавшись за золотым тельцом с целью удовлетворения растущих аппетитов акционеров за счёт сдачи своих позиций на софтверном направлении в пользу Google, в Samsung Mobile явно позабыли об интересах обычных пользователей, которые на самом деле являются истинными акционерами южнокорейского техногиганта. Ведь если ряды сторонников марки Samsung будут редеть, то вряд ли акционеры будут гореть желанием держать свои активы в проблемном месте, не правда ли?

If we summarize the wishes of customers from different countries, then the largest number of critical arrows are directed against the decision to reduce the basic configuration and hardware capabilities in the flagship Galaxy S21 series. In addition, Samsung's idea of effectively discontinuing the Galaxy Note series smartphones has come under heavy criticism. The policy of "silent replacement" of the Note series with foldable gadgets such as the Galaxy Fold has also been questioned.

In the discussions, it is noted that folding devices are still too expensive, and even if potential buyers have money, far from everyone wants to have such a device. Many people do not like the crease in the middle of the screen and the insufficient degree of moisture protection of such smartphones-transformers.

Users of Galaxy flagship smartphones demand the return of additional slots for SIM-cards and microSD memory cards as soon as possible, a standard 3.5mm connection for wired headphones, the previous configuration, including a charger, and an increase in the display resolution in the "simplified" modifications of the Galaxy S series. In general, the introduction of "simplified" versions of the Galaxy S with reduced technical characteristics is considered by many to be very stupid. The reports that Samsung's top managers have been brainstorming for more than six months to develop a strategy to counter the Apple ecosystem were greeted with a smile. "If you want to be like Apple or better than Apple, you have to have your own operating platform and your own services that outperform the competitor's products. "Если смартфон относится к флагманской категории, то я в любом случае должен получить бескомпромиссную максимальную комплектацию и технические характеристики. Но если мне под видом "флагмана" предлагается модель с более дешёвыми материалами корпуса и камерами со сниженными характеристиками, то это уже не флагман", - пишет один из участников дискуссии.

Многие сходятся во мнении, что последней по-настоящему флагманской линейкой смартфонов Samsung была юбилейная Galaxy S10, где высокие характеристики удачно сочетались с дизайнерскими решениями. Все последующие эксперименты Samsung Mobile, вызванные стремлением к повышению маржинальности бизнеса, привели лишь к разочарованиям.

Также отмечается раздражение пользователей тем фактом, что Samsung расплодил огромное количество безликих смартфонов бюджетного и среднего класса, уступающих китайским конкурентам. Некогда популярная линейка Galaxy A ныне утратила своё былое назначение как "предфлагманская", поскольку теперь в неё включены и откровенно дешёвые модели.

Индийские пользователи негодуют из-за проблемных "новых" линеек Galaxy M и Galaxy F, где обнаружились ужасные дефекты ПО, выводящие из строя аппаратную часть смартфонов. В результате стоимость ремонта в ряде случаев составляет более половины стоимости новой трубки. Напомним, что прежняя бюджетная линейка смартфонов Galaxy J, безжалостно уничтоженная маркетологами Samsung, не имела подобных проблем. Более того, именно легендарные Galaxy J сделали марку Samsung столь популярной в развивающихся странах, включая вышеупомянутую Индию. Сейчас рынок бюджетных смартфонов особенно актуален, поскольку во многих регионах мира доходы населения значительно сократились из-за пандемии COVID-19, так что упускать инициативу в этом сегменте было бы непростительно для руководства Samsung Mobile. А теперь о том, что упустили участники дискуссий. Это уже неоднократно отмеченная нами патологическая зависимость Samsung Mobile от своего "давнего партнёра" Google. Новоявленный "Союз меча и орала" сейчас прославляется в проплаченных рекламных публикациях на множестве профильных ресурсов. Эта кампания приурочена к предстоящей 11 августа презентации новых продуктов от Samsung Mobile, где в очередной раз будет объявлено о "золотой свадьбе" Samsung и Google.

На самом деле этот союз не принесёт счастья южнокорейскому брэнду, поскольку лишь закрепит его образ как аппаратного придатка американского IT-монстра. Пожалуй, это наиболее позорная страница в истории Samsung, которая затмевает скандалы с возгораниями Galaxy Note7 или недоделанными Galaxy Fold.

Samsung Galaxy A51

The Galaxy A51 is powered by the Exynos 9611 SoC that's paired with up to 8GB RAM. It runs Android 10-based One UI 2.0 out of the box and has up to 128GB of storage onboard. It also comes with a microSD card slot, which allows storage expansion by up to 512GB.
The Galaxy A51 is built around a 6.5" 20:9 Infinity-O Super AMOLED display of FullHD+ resolution that has a fingerprint reader underneath and a punch hole in the center for the 32MP selfie camera.
The smartphone flaunts a mirror back with a diamond-cut design which is home to an L-shaped quad camera setup comprising a 48MP main, 12MP ultrawide (123-degree FOV), 5MP depth, and 5MP macro units. These cameras come with features like Smart Switch, Live Focus, and Super Steady Video.
The Galaxy A51 packs a 4,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging and has four color options - Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush Pink.
The A51 is priced starting at $350/€310 and can be pre-booked in Vietnam from December 16, with sales commencing from December 27. Those who pre-order the A51 will get free gifts worth up to $70/€60, which include Samsung's C&T ITFIT A08C Wireless Bluetooth earphones and a 10,000 mAh power bank.

Samsung Galaxy A71

The Galaxy A71 looks similar to the Galaxy A51, but there are some differences between the two smartphones.
For starters, the A71 has a Snapdragon 730 SoC at the helm, and while it does have a quad camera setup on the back, the 48MP main sensor is replaced by a 64MP one.
The A71 comes with a slightly larger screen (6.7") with a bit larger punch hole and packs a 4,500 mAh battery with 25W fast charging. This makes it seven grams heavier than the A51.
Like the A51, the A71 also comes in four color options, but there's no word on its pricing and availability.

Blackpink Edition Samsung Galaxy A80, Watch Active and Buds available for pre-order

Samsung Malaysia is offering a Blackpink edition of the Samsung Galaxy A80 smartphone in a special bundle with a pair of Galaxy Buds wireless earphones and Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch for RM3,899 – all in the pop group's signature black and pink colours.
According to a description on the Samsung website, the Galaxy A80 Blackpink edition was co-designed by members Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa with features just for fans, such as exclusive themes, wallpapers and animated stickers for messaging.
The A80 features Samsung’s first New Infinity Display, an edge-to-edge 6.7in FHD+ Super Amoled screen with a 20:9 display ratio, along with a rotating triple-camera module. Users can slide the camera up and watch it turn from the back to become a front-facing camera.
The rotating module houses an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 123° angle, 48-megapixel main camera and 3D depth camera.
As the module rotates, it doubles as both the main and selfie cameras, and lets you record footage continuously even when you switch between front and back, so your “memories can be seen in one video”.
The 48-megapixel camera promises crisp, clear shots which is recommended for vlogging and livestreaming, while the 3D depth camera helps to blur out background in videos to help users focus on important details.
It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and 3,700mAh battery.
Meanwhile the Galaxy Buds wireless earphones, which pair with the A80 via Bluetooth, are tuned with AKG which Samsung promises delivers clear and immersive sound experience. It comes in a case that also doubles as a charging pod for the buds.
Then there's the Galaxy Watch Active which comes with a 1.1in circular Amoled display, wellness management features for sleep and stress as well as dedicated motion sensors to track various daily fitness activities.
Only 300 units are available for the pre-order period on Lazada and Shopee from now until Aug 4.
