Вице-председатель Samsung инспектирует неэлектронные филиалы конгломерата

Ли Джей-ён, вице-президент Samsung Electronics, 24 июня провёл закрытую встречу с руководителями неэлектронных филиалов Samsung Group, чтобы обсудить их бизнес-стратегии.
Ли посетил главный офис Samsung C&T, чтобы встретиться с Ли Янг-хо, президентом строительного подразделения конгломерата, Чой Сунганом, президентом Samsung Engineering и другими руководителями. После встречи он обедал с сотрудниками в столовой корпорации, сообщает Samsung C&T. 
На встрече Ли и другие руководители обсудили вопросы подготовки к запланированному визиту в Корею наследного принца и заместителя премьер-министра Саудовской Аравии Мохаммеда бен Салмана Аль Сауда. На встрече обсуждались вопросы делового сотрудничества с Саудовской Аравией и другими странами Ближнего Востока, основанного на богатом опыте строительных компаний Samsung по проектированию, закупкам и строительству (EPC).
Ожидается, что наследный принц Бин Салман будет находиться в Корее 2 дня - с 26 июня и планирует встретиться с лидерами местного бизнеса во время завтрака в Чон Ва Дэ, официальной правительственной резиденции Южной Кореи. В число лидеров корейского бизнеса, помимо Ли-младшего, войдут председатель SK Group Чей Тэ-вон и старший вице-председатель Hyundai Motor Group Чунг Юй-сан.
Отраслевые обозреватели говорят, что Ли посетил неэлектронные филиалы группы, чтобы проинспектировать их нерешённые вопросы, так как глава Целевой группы поддержки бизнеса (TF) Samsung Electronics, Чунг Хён Хо, фактически прекратил управление из-за очередных расследований правомерности  деловых операций в Samsumg Group несколько лет назад. Таким образом, Ли Джей-ён должен на этот период возложить на себя ответственность по управлению всей структурой конгломерата, включая принятие решений о деловых и инвестиционных планах подконтрольных ему филиалов.

Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Checks on Issues of Non-Electronic Affiliates

Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, had a private meeting with key executives of non-electronic affiliates of Samsung Group on June 24 to discuss their business strategies.
Lee visited the main building of Samsung C&T for a meeting with Lee Young-ho, president of Samsung C&T's Construction Division, Choi Sung-an, president of Samsung Engineering, and other key executives. After the meeting, he had a luncheon with employees at the company's cafeteria, Samsung C&T said. 
At the meeting, Lee and other executives discussed preparations for the planned visit to Korea of Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud, crown prince and deputy prime minister of Saudi Arabia. The meeting focused on business cooperation with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries based on the rich experience of Samsung’s construction-related firms in carrying out engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects.
Crown prince Bin Salman is expected to stay in Korea for two days from June 26 and plans to meet Korean business leaders during a luncheon at Cheong Wa Dae, South Korea’s White House. The Korean business leaders will include Lee, SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won and Chung Eui-sun, senior vice chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.
Industry watchers say that Lee visited the group’s non-electronic affiliates to check on their pending issues and show his will to manage them. As the Business Support Task Force (TF) of Samsung Electronics, which serves as the control tower of the entire group, is not functioning properly due to the prosecution’s investigation of Chung Hyun-ho, head of the task force, Lee had to directly take care of the business and investment plans of group affiliates, they added.

Samsung Engineering выигрывает тендер на постройку 2-х заводов в Таиланде

Подразделение Samsung Engineering объявило о том, что выиграло тендер на участие в двух строительных проектах в Таиланде на сумму 482,16 миллиона долларов США.
По заказу дочерних компаний энергетической госкорпорации PPT южнокорейский подрядчик построит два объекта по производству продуктов нефтехимии и электрогенерации. Они будут расположены в Райгоне, в 150-ти километрах к юго-востоку от Бангкока и будут сданы, соответственно, в 2020-м и 2019-м годах.
Строительное подразделение Samsung Group отвечает за весь процесс, включая проектирование, закупку материалов, строительство и ввод в эксплуатация "под ключ".
Если учесть последние сделки, общее количество контрактов между PPT и Samsung Engineering составило 19 на общую сумму 3 триллиона южнокорейских вон начиная с 1991 года, когда они стали деловыми партнёрами.
PPT была основана в 1978 году и является одной из крупнейших тайских госкорпораций, работающих в области энергетики. На сегодняшний день PPT имеет более 40-ка дочерних компаний.
Напомним, что буквально на днях компания Samsung Engineering также выиграла контракт на возведение гигантского нефтеперерабатывающего завода в Омане стоимостью $2 миллиарда в качестве участника совместного бизнеса с британской Petrofac.

Samsung Engineering bags W550b order in Thailand

Samsung Engineering announced on Aug. 16 that it has won two projects worth 550 billion won (US$482.16 million) from subsidiaries of PTT Public Company, a Thailand state-owned energy company.
Samsung affiliate will build plants that produce petrochemical products and generates electric power. They will be located in Rayong, 150 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, and are aiming for completion by 2020 and 2019, respectively.
The Korean builder will be responsible for the entire process, including engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the plants based on a turnkey contract. 
“Samsung Engineering will do our utmost efforts to deliver top class plants for Thailand,” said Park Choong-heum, President and CEO of Samsung Engineering.
Including the latest deal, Samsung Engineering and PPT have signed 19 contracts, worth 3 trillion won in total, since they became business partners in 1991. PPT was established in 1978 and is one of the largest state-owned energy corporations in Thailand with over 40 subsidiaries. 
Besides Thailand, the Korean firm said on Aug. 7 that it had won a refinery project in Oman worth US$2 billion as a joint venture with UK oilfield service company Petrofac.

Samsung Engineering будет отвечать за проектирование, закупки и строительство объекта на сумму $1 миллиард.
Samsung и Petrofac сотрудничают в поисках синергии бизнеса и снижения рисков. Они также объединились для проекта Кувейтской национальной нефтяной компании по выработке чистого топлива. 
Ожидается, что новый проект в Омане будет завершён к 2021 году, сообщает бизнес-портал The Investor.

Samsung Engineering wins US$2b deal in Oman

Samsung Engineering said on Aug. 7 that it has won a US$2 billion refinery project in Oman via its 50:50 joint venture with UK oilfield service company Petrofac.
The Korean builder alone will be in charge of the project's engineering, procurement, and construction worth US$1 billion.
Samsung and Petrofac have partnered to seek business synergies while reducing risks. They also teamed up for Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s clean fuel project in Kuwait. 
Oman’s Dugm Refinery, part of Duqm Special Economic Zone, consists of three projects for its planned 230,000 barrels-a-day refiner. The Samsung JV won the second package to build utility facilities, a tank that stores crude oil before and after refining and a sewage treatment facility. The project is expected to be completed by 2021. 
With the latest order, Samsung is entering the Omani market for the first time. Dugm Refinery is a JV between Oman Oil Company and Kuwait Petroleum International.

SSD Samsung EVO 850 потребители и СМИ оценили уже давно за высокий уровень производительности, выносливости и экологической надёжности. И вот совсем недавно 250-гигабайтный SSD EVO 850 получил награду EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) - сертификат организации по защите окружающей среды Южной Кореи.
Как показала экспертиза, это изделие отличается самым низким содержанием токсичных веществ по сравнению с аналогичной продукцией конкурентов, что благотворно сказывается на сохранении окружающей среды как при производстве, так и при утилизации каждого SSD-модуля.
В Samsung уже давно действует программа содействия развитию "зелёных технологий" и конгломерат уже не раз был отмечен престижными наградами от различных экологических организаций.
С целью сокращения выбросов парниковых газов в атмосферу дочерние подразделения Samsung Electronics и Samsung Engineering построили объект, где производится разложение парниковых газов на безвредные элементы при производстве полупроводников.
С 2007 года, когда объект был введён в эксплуатацию, инженеры корпорации постоянно совершенствовали его, доведя степень разложения парниковых газов до более чем 90% и сократив к 2016-му году выбросы на 1,25 млн тонн.
В официальном пресс-релизе, опубликованном на сайте южнокорейской корпорации, говорится, что Samsung продолжит активную работу в направлении развития "зелёной экономики" на своих предприятиях.

Samsung’s Achievements in Eco-Friendliness: 850 EVO SSD Recognized for Environmental Reliability

Samsung’s 850 EVO solid state drive (SSD) has long been praised by customers and media for its high level of performance and endurance, and now is also being recognized for its environmental reliability. The SSD 850 EVO 250GB was recently awarded the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) label in Korea1, a certificate which recognizes a product’s performance according to six key environmental metrics such as carbon footprint, ozone depletion, eutrophication, photochemical smog, resource footprint and acidification.
The SSD 850 EVO 250GB received the certification with the lowest carbon footprint per product in the market at 9.327kg CO2, which is less than the amount of carbon absorbed by an average 30-year-old tree in a year (9.36kg CO2).
“Through the EPD certification, we are very pleased to be able to assure our customers that Samsung SSDs not only offer cutting-edge technology, but also are eco-friendly products,” said Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics. “At Samsung, we are proactively working to reduce our environmental footprint, and we look forward to more of our leading-edge SSD products being recognized for their eco-friendliness.”

Samsung’s Ongoing Efforts to Reduce Its Environmental Footprint

Samsung has continuously placed significant priority on minimizing its overall environmental footprint by designing and operating highly energy-efficient production facilities, optimizing its entire manufacturing processes and engaging its customers and suppliers along every step. Samsung earned its first low carbon footprint certification for the DDR3 DRAM server module in 2009 and has since expanded its certification portfolio across its key products, including NAND flash and application processors.
In particular, Samsung’s Device Solutions division which manufactures the 850 EVO has set three goals as part of its eco-friendly manufacturing initiatives: 1) minimize the input of greenhouse gases during the semiconductor manufacturing process, 2) replace harmful substances whenever possible and 3) finely decompose greenhouse gases that were inevitably produced.
While these goals present inherent challenges, Samsung Electronics and Samsung Engineering jointly built a facility that decomposes greenhouse gases created during semiconductor processing in 2007. Through continuous enhancements made to the facility, Samsung has effectively been able to decompose more than 90% of greenhouse gases, reducing 1.25 total million tons of greenhouse gases and saving 2,527 TJ of energy in 2016.
Samsung will continue to strengthen its commitment to a sustainable future through a dedicated, comprehensive examination across its processes and businesses.
