Samsung и кинопрокатная компания Cine Colombia объявили об открытии второго на территории Колумбии кинозала, оборудованного ультрасовременным LED-экраном Onyx, который разработан южнокорейским техногигантом.
Система окружающего звука поставляется компанией JBL, которая является составной частью американского мультибрэнодового конгломерата HARMAN (с марта 2017 года принадлежит Samsung Electronics). В новом кинозале установлено 150 акустических модулей от JBL Professional со звуковым процессором, способным поддерживать различные технологии объёмного звучания, включая Dolby Atmos.  
456-дюймовый LED-экран Onyx может демонстрировать намного более яркое и контрастное изображение по сравнению с традиционными проекторами. Это особенно важно для качественного восприятия 3D-кино. Samsung Onyx также поддерживает формат ультравысокой чёткости 4K и технологию HDR (High Dynamic Range). По оценкам специалистов, киноэкран Samsung Onyx в несколько раз превосходит возможности даже самых лучших лазерных проекторов, а также имеет гораздо более длительный срок службы.
В настоящее время десятки кинозалов в разных частях света уже оборудованы революционным решением от Samsung. Кинотеатры и отдельные залы Onyx открыты в таких странах как Южная Корея, США, Китай, Германия, Франция, Испания, Австрия, Швейцария, Мексика, Бразилия, Индия, Таиланд и многих других.

Samsung opens second Onyx LED cinema in Colombia

Samsung and Cine Colombia have announced the opening of their second cinema in Colombia, equipped with the ultra-modern Onyx LED screen, designed by the South Korean tech giant.
The surround sound system is supplied by JBL, which is part of the American multibranded conglomerate HARMAN (owned by Samsung Electronics since March 2017). The new cinema has 150 speakers from JBL Professional with a sound processor capable of supporting various surround sound technologies, including Dolby Atmos.
The 456-inch Onyx LED screen can display a much brighter and sharper image than traditional projectors. This is especially important for a good 3D movie experience. Samsung Onyx also supports 4K ultra-high definition and HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology. According to experts, the Samsung Onyx LED screen is several times superior to even the best laser projectors, and also has a much longer life.
Currently, dozens of cinema halls in different parts of the world are already equipped with a revolutionary solution from Samsung. Cinemas and separate halls under the Onyx brand are open in countries such as South Korea, the USA, China, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, India, Thailand and many others.
In the coming years, Samsung plans to significantly expand its presence in the global film industry.

CineEurope 2019: Samsung подтверждает заключение ещё 14-ти контрактов на поставку кинотеатрам фирменной LED-технологии Onyx

К уже существующим 39 кинотеатрам Samsung Onyx, расположенным в 16-ти странах на разных континентах, скоро прибавятся ещё 14.

В рамках проходившего 19-25 июня в испанской Барселоне ежегодного мероприятия для поставщиков профессионального кинооборудования CineEurope 2019, корпорация Samsung Electronics объявила о заключении серии контрактов на поставки фирменных кинотеатральных решений Onyx, - самых передовых на сегодняшний день LED-экранов и звуковых установок JBL/Harman, не оставляющих шансов на будущее конкурирующей проекционной технологии.
Согласно сообщениям профильных ресурсов, до конца текущего года южнокорейский техногигант отправит своим глобальным партнёрам, по меньшей мере, 14 комплектов Onyx различной конфигурации. Samsung Onyx Cinema являются первыми в мире светодиодными кинотеатральными экранами, получившими сертификат соответствия всем требованиям профессионального цифрового кинематоргафа DCI. 
«Мы рады объявить о следующих установках технологии Samsung Onyx по всему миру», - сказал Согги Ким, исполнительный вице-президент по бизнесу визуальных дисплеев Samsung Electronics. «Благодаря светодиодному экрану Onyx Cinema клиенты получат удовольствие от просмотра с качеством изображения мирового класса, улучшенным коэффициентом контрастности и глубоким оттенком чёрного. Распространение Onyx по всей Европе

Samsung подтверждает, что в ближайшие месяцы будут открыты 4 новых локации Onyx Cinema в Европе: два кинозала в Испании, один в Ирландии и один в Румынии.

Дальнейшее развёртывание в Испании

Два новых экрана будут установлены в Odeon Multicines в Испании. Место расположения первого - Plaza de Armas (Севилья). Зал оборудуют 10-метровым экраном, а премьерный показ состоится в сентябре. Второй зал оборудуют для кинопрокатного отделения компании CC San Vicente (Аликанте), где будет установлен самый большой 14-метровый Onyx. Это будет первая инсталляция наиболее крупной конфигурации экрана Samsung на европейском континенте.
Монтаж оборудования будут осуществлять компании Ingevideo и Equipo de Cine, имеющие партнёрское соглашение с южнокорейским вендором.

Samsung Continues to Reshape the Theatrical Experience with Onyx Cinema LED Screen in Europe and Across the Globe

Samsung’s DCI-Certified Cinema Display has 39 global installations to date, with seven in Europe and 14 more confirmed before the end of 2019

Samsung Electronics Co. announced at CineEurope 2019, its latest global installations of the Samsung Onyx Cinema LED display, the world’s first DCI-compliant LED theatre display.
“We are excited to be announcing the latest installations of Samsung’s Onyx technology across the globe,” said Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the Onyx Cinema LED screen, customers will enjoy a heightened viewing experience with world-class picture quality, enhanced contrast ratio and deep blacks. We are committed to providing viewers with richer content that will immerse them in every scene.”

Onyx Expansion Across Europe

Samsung announced the four new locations to be opened in Europe, two in Spain, one in Ireland and one in Romania.

Further roll-out in Spain

Firstly, two screens will be installed at Odeon Multicines in Spain. The company’s Plaza de Armas (Seville) location will be the first to open in September with a 10-meter screen, followed by the CC San Vicente (Alicante) location with an Onyx 14 meter, opening by October, the first 14 meter screen installed in Europe. Both installations will be completed by Ingevideo and Equipo de Cine.
“We are committed to offering the best experience to our audience, and Onyx is clearly a differentiator”, said Luis Millan, CEO of Odeon Multicines. “We are really excited about our partnership with Samsung and being an active part of this revolution in cinema.”

The first Onyx for UK and Ireland

The first 10-meter screen in UK and Ireland will also be installed during the third quarter of the year following an agreement reached with the historic cinema chain, Movies@. The location is the iconic Movies@Dundrum and the installation will be completed by Omnex.
“Movies@ has always been something of a pioneer, committed to delivering only the best audio-visual technologies that enhance movie-going”, explained Graham Spurling, Joint Managing Director of Movies@, “When I saw these screens in action at Samsung’s HQ in Frankfurt, the quality of the image blew me away — so we’re delighted to be working with Samsung and Omnex to bring a radically innovative LED screen experience to Irish audiences.”

Onyx arriving to Eastern Europe

The first Onyx screen in Romania will also open before the end of the year, at Cinema One, which will be installing the 5-meter Onyx at its location in Brasov, Coresi Shopping Center. CinemaNext will be the integrator for this project.
“We wanted to include the very best picture in our new auditorium at Coresi Shopping Resort”, said Mr. Francesco D'Ambrosio, “and clearly Onyx is the best option. Cinema One wanted to offer a very premium experience and Onyx is the perfect choice”

Samsung Onyx: a beautiful sight to behold

Samsungs's Onyx Cinema LED screen is undeniably gorgeous. Its ability to display detailed videos with dark and light elements is unparalleled, and makes for a unique cinematic experience.

CinemaCon 2019: Samsung объявляет о заключении новых контрактов по развёртыванию кинотеатральных комплексов Onyx

В ходе крупнейшей в мире отраслевой выставки киноиндустрии CinemaCon 2019, проходившей с 1 по 4 апреля в Лас-Вегасе (США), корпорация Samsung Electronics сообщила о заключении новых контрактов на поставку самых передовых решений для кинотеатров - фирменных LED-экранов Onyx.
Согласно пресс-релизу южнокорейского техногиганта, новые залы, оборудованные системами Onyx Cinema LED, появятся в США и Израиле.
Судя по всему, американцы не хотят уступать Китаю, который пока удерживает первенство по количеству действующих залов Onyx (7).
В настоящее время в штате Калифорния действует 1 кинотеатр, оснащённый  иммерсивным LED-экраном от Samsung (если не считать второго экрана, установленного в одной из голливудских студий постпроизводства).
Однако вскоре ситуация будет меняться, и в США появятся ещё 2 кинозала Onyx. На очереди штат Техас, где в кинотеатре Star Cinema Grill (г. Ричмонд) будет установлен самый большой экран Samsung, шириной более 14-ти метров. Это 2-й в мире кинозал, где появится Onyx такого размера. Напомним, что впервые подобный экран был установлен в одном из центральных кинотеатров Пекина (декабрь 2018).
По замыслу кинопрокатной организации, заказавшей 14-метровый Onyx, экран будет установлен в роскошном VIP-зале с персональным обслуживанием посетителей официантами, если кто-то из клиентов захочет поужинать за просмотром новейшего блокбастера.
Другой кинозал, оборудованный 10-метровым экраном, заказан компанией HighRock Group, которая установит его в мультиплексе Warehouse Cinemas (г. Фредерик, штат Мэриленд). Причём впервые Samsung Onyx будет смонтирован в зале, оборудованном запатентованной технологией SkyVUE (экран с подвижным углом наклона для создания оптимального ракурса и перспективы во время просмотра фильмов).
Американские кинопрокатчики не скрывают своего оптимизма относительно сотрудничества с Samsung, поскольку самая лучшая на сегодняшний день технология кинопоказа без применения проекторов сулит хорошие коммерческие перспективы.
Как сообщается в пресс-релизе Samsung, LED-кинотеатр в Техасе откроется в июне, а более сложный в техническом аспекте зал в Мэриленде распахнёт свои двери в сентябре текущего года.
Также подтверждён заказ на установку Onyx Cinema LED в Израиле, который станет 17-й по счёту страной, где будет реализована технология цифрового кинематографа будущего.
В ближайшие месяцы количество кинозалов, оснащённых самыми передовыми решениями Samsung Onyx, превысит 50.

At CinemaCon 2019, Samsung Electronics is announcing the newest upcoming installations of its branded Samsung Onyx Cinema LED display, the world’s first DCI-compliant LED theatre display. Following the display’s showstopping unveiling at last year’s show, Samsung continues the momentum with three more confirmed installations for this coming year including two in the U.S. and one in Israel. As one of the largest and most influential gatherings for the worldwide motion picture theatre industry, Samsung is proud to maintain a prominent presence at CinemaCon.

Onyx Expansion in the U.S.

Samsung announced two upcoming Onyx installations at the Star Cinema Grill in Texas and at Warehouse Cinema by HighRock Group in Maryland. “Since our unveiling for the U.S. market at CinemaCon last year, Samsung Onyx has revolutionized the cinema experience globally,” said Nick Conti, Senior Business Development Manager for Cinema, Samsung Electronics America. “Today’s theatre expansion announcements in the U.S. showcase the praise and significant interest we have received from the industry since last year’s unveiling and we are very excited to work with these visionary exhibitors on successful installations this year.”
Star Cinema Grill will be introducing the 46 ft. (14m) wide Samsung Onyx p3.3 Cinema LED this summer at their newest location in Richmond, Texas. Star Cinema Grill in Richmond will be the company’s most advanced and luxurious theatre to date that will serve as the model concept going forward. The installation is slated to finish in June of this year and will be the first Samsung Onyx p3.3 Cinema LED in the Western hemisphere and only the second in the world.  Key to the success of this deal is the relationships Samsung built over the last year with Moving Image Technologies (“MIT”) and CSI Leasing (“CSI”). Южнокорейская CJ CGV, вероятно, оснастит российские кинотеатры новейшими экранами Samsung Onyx

Южнокорейская сеть кинотеатров CJ CGV этой весной открывает сразу несколько площадок в России. О выходе на местный рынок кинопроката сильного зарубежного игрока было объявлено ещё 1,5 года назад. Тогда же стало известно, что первым партнёром южнокорейцев станет ADG Group, реализующая в столице проект реновации старых советских кинотеатров. CGV Russia должна открыть свои площадки на 33 объектах ADG, первым из которых должен стать 4-зальный мультиплекс «Ангара», что расположен на московском Чонгарском бульваре, в районе Нагатино. Остальные объекты должны будут постепенно открываться в течение 2019–2021 годов. 
«В партнёрстве с CJ CGV мы предложим московскому зрителю уникальное с точки зрения соотношения «цена-качество» предложение: кино у дома и билет в кинозал бизнес-класса по доступной цене, − говорит Григорий Печерский, управляющий партнёр ADG Group. − Для кинотеатров в районных центрах мы разработали принципиально новую концепцию наполнения и организации пространства. Новое качество кинопоказа и атмосферу комфорта мы планируем внедрять не только в 33 собственных районных центрах, но и во всех кинотеатрах, операторами которых станет CGV Russia».
До этого момента о CJ CGV упоминали только в контексте районных центров ADG Group, однако «Ведомостям» стало известно, что первый российский кинотеатр, который оборудуют южнокорейцы, возможно, откроется вовсе не там. Сеть стала якорным арендатором МФК «Саларис» в составе ТПУ «Саларьево», который расположен на юго-западе столицы. Ранее проходила информация, что площади, отведённые там под кинотеатр, займёт Объединённая сеть «Синема Парк» и «Формула кино». В «Саларис» CGV Russia арендует более 4000 кв. м, где планирует открыть 8 кинозалов. В официальном сообщении компании говорится о том, что на этой площадке будет представлена «концепция кинопоказа, не имеющая аналогов в России», а также «собственные инновационные разработки CGV». Обозреватели столичного кинорынка не исключают, что CJ CJV, которая когда-то выделилась из конгломерата Samsung в самостоятельную бизнес-единицу CJ Group, применит на некоторых площадках инновационное решение - ульрасовременные кинотеатральные комплекты на базе уникальных LED-экранов Samsung Onyx, обладающих непревзойдённым качеством изображения (как в 2D, так и в 3D HDR форматах) по сравнению даже с лучшими лазерными проекторами.
Под каким брэндом CJ CGV будет работать в России, пока неизвестно. У сети сейчас есть только рабочее название, а её бренд будет объявлен позднее, уточнил «Ведомостям» представитель CJ Group.
CJ CGV занимает 5-е место в мире по количеству экранов. На данный момент сеть представлена, по большей части, в азиатском регионе: Южная Корея, Китай, Вьетнам, Индонезия, Мьянма и Турция. Год назад в интервью БК вице-президент по глобальному развитию бизнеса CJ CGV Брэт Ким заявлял, что компания нацелена занять 30–40% российского рынка кинопоказа. CGV Russia планирует открыть 200 кинотеатров с 1.600 экранами, причём 160 залов будут открыты в тех самых 33-х московских районных центрах. Затем CJ CGV планирует распространить свою деятельность и на другие российские города.

The South Korean CJ CGV will probably equip Russian cinemas with the latest Samsung Onyx LED screens

This spring, the South Korean CJ CGV cinema chain opens several rooms in Russia at once. The entry of a strong foreign player into the local film distribution market was announced 1,5 years ago. Then it became known that the first partner of South Koreans will be the ADG Group, which is implementing in the capital a project of renovating old Soviet cinemas.
The project to upgrade several dozen Moscow entertainment centers should be completed in 2021.
Reviewers of the Moscow Film Market do not exclude that CJ CJV, which once stood out from Samsung conglomerate as an independent business unit of the CJ Group, will apply an innovative solution in some of the halls - ultra-modern cinema sets based on Samsung Onyx LED screens.
CJ CGV is ranked 5th in the world in the number of screens. Currently, the network is represented mainly in the Asian region: South Korea, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Turkey. A year ago, in an interview with a Russian newspaper, CJ CGV Vice President for Global Business Development, Bret Kim, said that the company aims to occupy 30–40% of the Russian film screening market.
CGV Russia plans to open 200 cinemas with 1600 screens, and 160 rooms will be opened in 33 Moscow regional centers. Then CJ CGV plans to extend its activities to other Russian cities.

В свою очередь, Бибиан Ойос, директор IT-подразделения Samsung Colombia, подчеркнул, что на экранах Onyx можно демонстрировать не только художественные фильмы с непревзойдённым качеством, но также проводить великолепные презентации (поскольку яркость экрана позволяет выводить изображение даже при включённом свете в зале), вести прямые трансляции спортивных состязаний, концертов популярных звёзд и т.д.
В завершении отметим, что в конце прошлого года в специализированных изданиях появились сведения о том, что Samsung разрабатывает ещё более совершенные экраны серии Onyx шириной 20 метров с разрешением 8K.
В настоящее время корпорация предлагает заказчикам варианты шириной 5, 10 и 14,5 метров с разрешением 2K (для 5-метрового экрана) и 4K (для 10 и 14-метровых модификаций).

Samsung and Cinema Columbia opened the first Onyx LED cinema in South America

The first on the South American continent LED-cinema Samsung Onyx was opened in the Colombian capital Bogota, and more specifically, in the Andino multiplex. Малазийская прокатная компания MBO Cinemas сообщила, что в настоящее время завершает строительство в Куала-Лумпуре очередного зала, оборудованного самым передовым на сегодняшний день кинотеатральным решением Samsung Onyx. В системе Onyx применяется уникальный светодиодный экран с рекордными качественными характеристиками и специально разработанный звуковой комплект от американской JBL Professional (ныне принадлежит Samsung Electronics вместе с материнской мультибрэндовой корпорацией HARMAN International). Напомним, что первый кинотеатр Samsung Onyx был открыт в Малайзии несколько месяцев назад.
Новый зал расположен в однм из столичных флагманских мультиплексов MBO Atria, где зрителям предлагают лучший опыт просмотра благодаря применению новейших аудиовизуальных технологий вроде упомянутой выше Onyx или гигантского экрана IMAX со звуковым оборудованием стандарта Dolby Atmos.
Дата официального открытия 8-зального мультиплекаса пока не называется, но местная пресса сообщает, что это должно произойти в ближайшие недели.

In the capital of Malaysia, the next cinema hall Samsung Onyx will be opened soon

MBO Cinemas recently has revealed more details regarding the latest addition to its cineplex lineup which is located at Atria Shopping Gallery in Petaling Jaya. The new MBO Atria is said to feature 8 halls in total with one of them being equipped with Samsung Onyx LED cinema screen.
For those who followed our previous report, you might have remembered that the Samsung Onyx LED cinemas screen first made its way into Malaysia just a few months ago. At MBO Atria cineplex, the installation to deliver 4K contents (including 3D) with support for HDR alongside a sound system that can be customized to the content shown through the cinema hall.
Other than that, MBO Atria also has another hall that the company called MBO Big Screen that features a huge cinema screen that is said to be as tall as a 4-story building. Staying true to the commitment the company made to Dolby two years ago, this hall is indeed equipped with Dolby Atmos sound system.
In terms of ticket price, the MBO Atria’s Samsung Onyx hall apparently command an additional RM 3 on top of standard ticket price. The Big Screen hall on another hand also has an added fee of RM 4 per person.
MBO Atria is also the first MBO cineplex to feature digital self-service ticketing kiosks which currently support payment through credit and debit cards. Last but not least, the cineplex also features the touchscreen-based Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that allow users to obtain more than 50 drink combinations by mixing multiple beverages under the Coca-Cola umbrella through these machines.
For now, MBO has yet to reveal the actual opening date of MBO Atria. So, stay tuned for more updates from the company very soon.

В настоящее время Samsung предлагает киносетям и отдельным заказчикам 3 конфигурации комплектов Onyx Cinema шириной 5,5 м., 10,5 м. и 14,5 метра. В первом случае разрешение составляет 2K, а во втором и третьем - 4K. Все 3  варианта поддерживают форматы 2D и 3D, а звуковое оборудование поставляют HARMAN/JBL Professional, являющиеся дочерними структурами Samsung.
Таким образом, в соответствии с намеченным планом, Samsung до конца текущего года вывел на рынок самую большую 14-метровую конфигурацию, которая теперь доступна для заинтересованных клиентов по всему миру.

Samsung Electronics unveiled its largest-ever 3D-ready Onyx screen at Capital Cinema located in the Xicheng district in Beijing, China at a grand opening ceremony on December 7. Samsung’s latest 14-meter Onyx Cinema LED screen is now available in the market for movie theaters across the globe.

First LED cinema screen 'Samsung Onyx' arrives in Brazil

Samsung, in partnership with Cinépolis, brings to Brazil the first Samsung Onyx LED cinema screen, which will turn the exhibition rooms into a true multisensory experience and will make viewers feel part of each scene. With a 55 m² modular display, the JK Iguatemi (São Paulo) space is the first in the country to receive this innovation, present so far in Europe, Asia, the United States and Mexico. The inauguration is scheduled for early 2019.
With a premium viewing environment and richer, more realistic color display, the Samsung Onyx Cinema LED display features 455-inch and 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160 pixels). Support for HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology also allows for brighter brightness, raising brightness levels that can reach peaks almost ten times higher than conventional standards in both light and dark scenes.
Unlike the current projection format available in the Brazilian market, where the images are projected on a white screen capable of reflecting the light that is thrown over it by a projector that is on the other side of the room, the Samsung Onyx is not affected by ambient light , redefining the concept of contrast, avoiding distortions and providing greater immersion to the viewer. Профессионалы Голливуда отметили первый в мире светодиодный кинотеатр Samsung Onyx наградой "Высочайшее качество"

Подразделение Samsung Electronics America отмечено Голливудской профессиональной ассоциацией на ежегодной церемонии вручения премий за выдающиеся достижения в области кинематографа. Триумфатором стал первый в мире светодиодный кинотеатр Samsung Onyx, открывший новую главу в развитии технологии кинопоказа.
Премией "Высочайшее качество", которой удостоен Samsung Onyx, отмечаются компании, предоставляющие профессиональной киноиндустрии и телепроизводству лучшие технологии отображения медиаконтента.
Показанное на выставке CinemaCon 2018 в Лас-Вегасе новейшее кинотеатральное решение, созданное корпорацией Samsung и её дочерним подразделением HARMAN International Industries, первым в отрасли получило сертификат DCI, что означает его полное соответствие высочайшим требованиям профессиональной киноиндустрии. Это открывает прямую дорогу к широкому внедрению систем Samsung Onyx в американских кинотеатров, включая залы класса Lux.
Напомним, что светодиодные LED-кинотеатры Samsung впервые начали внедрять летом 2017 года в Южной Корее, после чего начались поставки комплектов Samsung Onyx в Таиланд, Китай, Швейцарию, США, Австрию, Германию, Индию, Мексику и ряд других стран. Пару месяцев назад появились сообщения, что Samsung открыл предзаказ на поставку комплектов Onyx и для российских клиентов.
Напомним, что кинотеатральные комплекты Onyx в настоящее время поставляются в двух вариантах: с 5-метровыми 2K-экранами и 10-метровыми 4K-экранами, произведёнными с использованием самой передовой технологии microLED.
Экраны способны демонстрировать 2D и 3D контент с качеством, которое недоступно даже самым передовым лазерным проекционным установкам.
Непревзойдённое качество также гарантируется поддержкой протокола HDR (расширенный динамический диапазон) с рекордными параметрами яркости/контрастности, а также отображения чистого белого и глубокого чёрного цветов.
Вместе с ведущими партнёрами киноиндустрии в США, Германии и Франции Samsung разработал полный цикл технологии создания контента (от требований к съёмочной аппаратуре до окончательного мастеринга) с идеальной калибровкой цветобаланса и других ключевых параметров изображения.
Длительность работы LED-экранов Onyx в несколько раз превосходит жизненный цикл традиционных проекторов. Согласно проведённым тестовым испытаниям, экраны от Samsung могут работать в течение 11 лет без перерыва.          
Что касается звукового сопровождения, то за это отвечает подразделение HARMAN - американская компания JBL Professional, разработавшая передовую систему окружающего звучания Sculpted Surround. Вместе с LED-экранами Samsung эти кинотеатральные комплекты получили название Onyx.
Вскоре южнокорейский техногигант предложит своим клиентам ещё более впечатляющий комплект с LED-экраном шириной более 15-ти метров, что позволит устанавливать системы Onyx не только в малых залах, но и в кинотеатрах средних размеров, которые являются наиболее распространёнными. 
В настоящее время Samsung активно наращивает мощности по производству таких кинотеатров и разворачивает поставки оборудования для оснащения залов системами Onyx на всех ключевых рынках мира.  

Samsung Onyx Secures Honorable Mention in HPA’s 2018 Engineering Excellence Award

Samsung Electronics America, Inc is awarded an honorable mention by the Hollywood Professional Association in their annual Engineering Excellence Award for the new Samsung Onyx cinema screen. The Engineering Excellence Award spotlights companies providing services to the professional media content industry for their outstanding technical and creative ingenuity in media, content production, finishing, distribution and archive.
Announced just before CinemaCon 2018, the Samsung Onyx brings LED technology to the cinema experience as the industry’s first DCI-certified cinema display. By using a large LED screen in the theater in place of the traditional projector, the audience experiences the brightest whites and deepest blacks, providing audiences with the opportunity to view films the way the creators intend. In addition, the colors remain vibrant even when there is ambient light throughout the space.

Samsung открывает новые фирменные LED-кинотеатры Onyx

С момента своей первой установки в Lotte Cinema World Tower в Сеуле (Южная Корея) фирменные светодиодные кинотеатры Samsung «Onyx Cinema» распространились практически на все регионы мира. 12 залов, действующие в 10-ти странах, показаны на графике выше. Совсем недавно первые кинозалы Onyx были установлены в Гонконге и Малайзии, что позволило представить невероятный опыт просмотра ещё большему числу любителей кино. В официальном пресс-релизе Samsung сообщает, что получил ряд дополнительных заказов, которые в настоящее время находятся в стадии проработки.
В этом году Samsung анонсировал партнёрские отношения с двумя крупнейшими в Азии кинопрокатчиками - сетью кинотеатров MCL в Гонконге и Golden Screen Cineas (GSC) в Малайзии - для установки светодиодных экранов Onyx Cinema.
7 июня Onyx официально открылся в кинотеатре MOVIE TOWN, принадлежащего сети MCL, которая в общей сложности владеет 48 залами в Гонконге, а также в кинотеатре Mid Valley Megamall, принадлежащем группе GSC в Малайзии.

Discover Samsung’s Onyx Cinema LED Screen around the World

Ever since its first installation at the Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, Samsung Electronics’ Onyx Cinema LED screen has expanded to regions across the world – specifically, twelve movie theaters in nine countries worldwide to-date, as shown in the graphic below. Most recently, Onyx was installed in Hong Kong and Malaysia – to deliver an extraordinary cinematic experience to even more movie lovers, with a number of additional orders currently in the pipeline.

Now in Malaysia and Hong Kong – Onyx screens installed all across Asia

This year, Samsung announced partnerships with two of Asia’s largest cinema circuits – Hong Kong’s MCL Cinemas and Malaysia’s Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) – to install the Onyx Cinema LED screen. Earlier this month, on June 7, Onyx officially opened at the MOVIE TOWN theater of MCL Cinemas, which has a total of nine prime cinema sites and 48 screens in the Hong Kong region, as well as the GSC group’s Mid Valley Megamall cinema in Malaysia.
In addition this month, Samsung and global cinema companies including INOX and PVR Cinemas of India kicked-off plans to create Onyx theaters in their respective regions to bring the world’s audiences a better movie experience.

Rapid adoption driven by superior cinema experience

Samsung Onyx has quickly caught on in popularity, with its features that take the cinema experience to the next level. For example, Samsung Onyx’ backlit screen helps bring out a screen’s true colors providing imagery depiction, crisp and free from distortion. Onyx’ High Dynamic Range (HDR) picture refinement and infinite contrast and brightness technologies also add-in to enable sharper presentations, and Samsung’s Audio Lab and JBL by Harman have cooperated to develop the Cinema LED screen’s innovative audio technology that expands audio range throughout theater seating areas.
