Мобильное подразделение Samsung India сегодня представило новый бюджетный смартфон Galaxy M31. Он оснащён 6,4-дюймовым дисплеем Full HD+ Infinity-U Super AMOLED, новейшим 10-нм чипом Exynos 9611, 6Гб ОЗУ и 64-Мп тыльной камерой, дополненной 8-Мп сверхширокоугольным модулем (123°), 5-Мп датчиком глубины, 5-Мп макромодулем и 32-Мп фронтальной камерой.
Galaxy M31 получил корпус из ударопрочного пластика с двухтоновой отделкой, слоты под две SIM-карты, microSD и огромную батарею на 6000 мА·ч с поддержкой скоростной 15-Вт зарядки через порт USB-C. Согласно пресс-релизу, без подзарядки аппарат способен непрерывно воспроизводить видео в течение 26 часов, обеспечивает 48 часов голосовых вызовов или более 119 часов воспроизведения музыки. Толщина Galaxy M31 составляет 9,1 мм, а вес — 191 грамм.

Смартфоны с экранами AMOLED (активная матрица на органических светодиодах) скоро займут на рынке почти такую же долю, что и аппараты, оснащённые жидкокристаллическими дисплеями, изготовленными по технологии низкотемпературного поликристаллического кремния (LTPS). С таким прогнозом недавно выступили эксперты WitsView, аналитического подразделения тайваньской исследовательской компании TrendForce.
По оценкам специалистов, в 2019-м году большую часть мирового рынка смартфонов продолжат занимать модели с ЖК-панелями. Так, доля устройств с LTPS-дисплеями прогнозируется на уровне 41,3%. Кроме того, ещё почти 26% в общем объёме поставок смартфонов представляют аппараты с экранами a-Si TFT LCD (технологии тонкоплёночных транзисторов из аморфного кремния). Что касается набирающей силу AMOLED-категории, то её вклад в этом году составит 32,8%.
Прогноз на 2020-й год предполагает дальнейшее увеличение спроса на гибкие AMOLED-панели, в особенности со стороны брэндов из КНР. Это, в свою очередь, будет стимулировать производителей дисплеев увеличивать выпуск AMOLED-продукции. В результате доля смартфонов с этой технологией продолжит увеличиваться и достигнет 38%.
ЖК-технология, напротив, будет постепенно сдавать позиции на рынке смартфонов. Аппараты с LTPS-экранами в 2020-м займут в поставках почти такую же долю, что и AMOLED - 38,6%, а вклад устройств с дисплеями типа a-Si TFT уменьшится до 23,4%, полагают в TrendForce.
В дальнейшем ожидается, что AMOLED станет ведущей дисплейной категорией на мировом рынке смартфонов.
О растущей популярности AMOLED-технологии говорят и эксперты Digitimes Research. В ближайшие несколько лет всё больше вендоров станут оснащать смартфоны такими экранами, что будет уменьшать спрос на ЖК-панели. В итоге к 2024 году 50% всех выпускаемых в мире смартфонов будет укомплектовано AMOLED-дисплеями. Вторая половина получит ЖК-экраны.
Говоря о рынке ЖК-панелей малого и среднего размера в целом, эксперты добавили, что его объём в штучном исчислении в ближайшую пятилетку будет сокращаться в среднем на 4,4% в год. В 2024-м поставки небольших ЖК-дисплеев прогнозируются в пределах 1,8 млрд штук.
Мировым лидером по поставкам AMOLED-панелей для смартфонов остаётся Samsung Display. По оценкам CINNO Research, в I квартале 2019 года на долю южнокорейского производителя пришлось 85,7% от суммарного объёма отгрузок этой продукции, хотя в прежние годы этот показатель превышал 95%. Специалисты связывают снижение доли Samsung с укреплением китайских дисплейных производителей, прежде всего BOE. При этом известно, что прогресс китайцев связан с кражей технологии производства AMOLED-дисплеев у того же Samsung.

Smartphones with AMOLED displays will occupy 38% of the mobile device market in 2020. Most will be produced by Samsung.

Smartphones with AMOLED screens (active matrix with organic light-emitting diodes) will soon occupy almost the same share of the market as devices equipped with liquid crystal displays made using low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology. This forecast was recently made by experts from WitsView, an analytical division of Taiwanese research company TrendForce.
According to experts, in 2019, most of the global smartphone market will continue to be occupied by models with LCD panels. The share of devices with LTPS displays is projected at 41.3%. In addition, almost 26% of the total supply of smartphones is represented by devices with a-Si TFT LCD screens (technology of thin-film transistors made of amorphous silicon). As for the gaining power AMOLED category, its contribution this year will be 32.8%.
The forecast for 2020 implies a further increase in demand for flexible AMOLED panels, especially from brands from China. This will encourage display manufacturers to increase production of AMOLED products. As a result, the share of smartphones with this technology will continue to increase and reach 38%. In the future, it is expected that AMOLED will become the leading display category in the global smartphone market.
The world leader in the supply of AMOLED panels for smartphones remains Samsung Display. According to CINNO Research, in the first quarter of 2019, the South Korean manufacturer accounted for 85.7% of the total volume of shipments of such products, although in previous years this figure exceeded 95%. Experts attribute the decline in Samsung's share to the strengthening of Chinese display manufacturers, primarily BOE. At the same time, it is known that the Chinese progress is associated with the theft of the production technology of AMOLED displays at the same Samsung.

В 2019-м году ожидается дальнейшее распространение OLED-экранов со встроенными дактилоскопическими датчиками на рынке смартфонов. Внедрение технологии растёт на фоне дешевеющих сканеров отпечатка пальца и сокращения ценового разрыва между OLED-дисплеями и ЖК-панелями типа LTPS, сообщает портал DigiTimes со ссылкой на отраслевые источники.
Объём рынка OLED-панелей с интегрированными в дисплей датчиками папиллярного узора в последнее время существенно расширился благодаря таким производителям, как Samsung Electronics, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo и Vivo, которые стали внедрять дактилоскопические сенсоры не только в моделях премиум-класса, но и в смартфонах средней ценовой категории.
Популярности технологии способствовало появление в 2018-м году более доступных по цене оптических сканеров отпечатка пальца от таких производителей, как Synaptics и Goodix Technology. Кроме того, крупнейший поставщик негибких OLED-панелей Samsung Display взял курс на сокращение ценового разрыва между "жёсткими" OLED-экранами и дисплеями типа LTPS LCD.
По данным источников, разница в стоимости негибких OLED-экранов и LTPS-панелей на сегодняшний день составляет уже порядка 5 долларов. По оценкам AVC Revo, повышение доступности OLED-панелей приведёт к сокращению поставок ЖК-дисплеев типа LTPS для смартфонов в 2019 году на 30 млн штук.
Ранее DigiTimes со ссылкой на данные аналитиков Sigmaintell сообщали, что в 2018-м году на мировой рынок поступит около 42 миллионов интегрируемых в экран сканеров считывания папиллярного узора, а в 2019-м их отгрузки превысят 100 миллионов штук.

Samsung Display benefits from increased demand for OLED panels with integrated fingerprint sensors

The popularity of OLED panels paired with in-display fingerprint sensors in the smartphone segment will continue to expand in 2019, driven by the reduction in sensor prices and the price gap between OLED and LTPS LCD panels, according to industry sources.
The market size of OLED panels with in-display fingerprint sensors has expanded significantly as handset vendors including Samsung Electronics, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have extended the adoption of in-display fingerprint sensing technology from the premium smartphones to mid-range models, said the sources.
The introduction of optical fingerprint sensing solutions by vendors including Synaptics and Goodix Technology in 2018, which came with more competitive pricing and fitted with the prevailing all-screen display design for smartphones, has helped bring down overall prices of in-display fingerprint sensor chips and therefore further drive up the popularity of such a technology, said the sources.
Meanwhile, being the largest supplier of rigid OLED panels currently, Samsung Display has also implemented a strategy aiming to narrow the price gap between rigid OLED and LTPS LCD panels as a means to ramp up its output and sales, added the sources.
The price gap between rigid OLED and LTPS LCD panels has been reduced to within US$5 per unit recently, said sources, adding that the lower OLED panel price with more affordable in-display fingerprint sensors will further squeeze the sales of LTPS LCD panels in 2019.
Overall shipments of LTPS LCD panels to the handset sector are expected to reduce by 30 million units in 2019, according to an estimated of China-based AVC Revo.
AVC Revo also estimated that smartphone shipments in the China market reached about 98 million units in the first quarter of 2019 and would bounce back to over 100 million units in the second quarter.

Сегодня подразделение Samsung Mobile India представило очередную модель смартфона из весьма интересной серии Galaxy M. Этот аппарат должен стать прямым конкурентом Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, который за 210 американских долларов (13.800 рублей по сегодняшнему курсу) предлагает 8-ядерный процессор Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, 6,3-дюймовый ЖК-дисплей с разрешением Full HD+ аккумулятор на 4.000мАч с быстрой зарядкой, коннект USB-C и вход для проводных наушников.
Основная камера Redmi Note 7 - двойная, с 48-Мп матрицей (F/1,8) и вспомогательным 5-Мп датчиком замера глубины сцены. Фронтальная камера имеет разрешение 13Мп. Однако цифра 48 в спецификациях основной камеры Redmi - это обманный маркетинговый ход, поскольку реальное разрешение в 3 раза ниже, а "рекордная" цифра достигается за счёт масштабирования (в реальных условиях съёмки каждый блок из 3-х "маленьких" пикселей работает как 1 "большой" пиксель). Стоит отметить, что эти характеристики актуальны лишь для версии, продающейся в Китае. Международная версия будет куда слабее (меньший объём ОЗУи флэш-памяти, а камеры в ней худшего качества).
В ответ китайцам Samsung Galaxy M30 предлагает пользователям 6,4-дюймовый Super AMOLED-дисплей серии Infinity U с разрешением Full HD+, новый фирменный 8-ядерный процессор Exynos 7904, 16-мегапиксельную сэлфи-камеру (F2.0), тройную основную камеру 13Мп (F1.9) + 5MP (Live Focus) + 5Мп (Ultra-wide lens), аккумулятор ёмкостью 5.000мАч с системой быстрой зарядки, разъём Type-C, сканер отпечаткв пальцев на тыльной стороне и систему разблокировки по лицу владельца Face Unlock. Имеется вход для проводных наушников, FM-радио, поддержка аудиостандарта Dolby Atmos. 
Galaxy M30 будет предлагаться в 2-х версиях с разным объёмом ОЗУ и встроенной флэш-памяти. Младшая модификация комплектуется 4Гб оперативной памяти и 64Гб постоянной, а старшая может похвастаться наличием 6Гб ОЗУ и 128Гб флэш-памяти. В обоих случаях объём накопителя можно расширить сменными картами памяти microSD ёмкостью до 512Гб.
Ориентировочная цена на младшую версию Galaxy M30 заявлена на уровне 210 долларов, а на старшую - $250.
После запуска на индийский рынок ожидается, что Samsung Galaxy M30 появится также в России и ряде других стран.

По мнению аналитиков исследовательской компании IHS, использование OLED-панелей в производстве смартфонов впервые превысит 50% барьер в 2019-м году. Это означает, что окончательный переход к новой, более прогрессивной технологии уже не за горами.
Согласно докладу IHS, уровень проникновения OLED на рынке смартфонов вырос с 40,8% в 2016-м году до 45,7% в 2018-м. Прогнозируется, что уже в 2019-м этот показатель достигнет 50,7%, что эквивалентно 20,7 миллиарда долларов США от общего дохода дисплейного бизнеса для мобильных устройств. В то же время доля ЖК-дисплеев на базе устаревшей технологии TFT-LCD, скорее всего, составит 49,3% ($20,1 миллиарда). Ожидается, что тенденция продолжится и к 2025 году уровень проникновения OLED достигнет 73%.
«Отличное разрешение, малый вес, тонкий дизайн и гибкость - вот некоторые факторы, связанные с взрывным ростом OLED-дисплеев для смартфонов», - сказал чиновник, связанный с бизнесом дисплеев, корреспонденту портала The Investor.

OLED to outpace LCD for smartphones in 2019: IHS

With more top-tier smartphone makers deploying OLED screens, the self-emissive display is forecast to outrun the traditional LCD display in terms of the adoption rate next year, according to research firm IHS.
The penetration rate of OLED in the smartphone market has been on an upward trend from 40.8 percent in 2016 to 45.7 percent in 2018. The figure is projected to reach 50.7 percent, equivalent to US$20.7 billion in overall revenue, in 2019 while the rate for the TFT-LCD, the most-used smartphone LCD type, will likely stand at 49.3 percent, or US$20.1 billion in revenue. The momentum will continue in the coming years and, by 2025, the OLED penetration rate is forecast to reach 73 percent.
“Excellent picture resolution, light weight, slim design and flexibility are some of the factors attributed to the explosive growth of smartphone OLED displays,” an official from the display segment said. 
Since US tech giant Apple first utilized an OLED screen for its high-end flagship iPhone X approximately a year ago, global smartphone makers, especially those from China, have churned out OLED-fitted smartphones.
The recent trend for a larger and wider screen will also accelerate the transition from LCDs to OLEDs as the latter enables more flexible design options
More smartphones are being fitted with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, or a higher ratio, and mobiles devices whose display takes up 90 percent of the frontal panel or more are expected to go mainstream down the road.
Among those benefitting from the rise of OLEDs, is Samsung Display, a dominant player in the smartphone OLED market. Most of the smartphone OLED displays - both rigid and flexible types - are made by the display-making affiliate of tech giant Samsung Electronics.
Since starting the first mass-production of smartphone OLEDs in 2007, the company has been leading the sector. The Korean display firm boasts a 95.4 percent market share in the overall smartphone OLED market while it leads the flexible OLED segment with a 97.4 percent market share.

Фронтальная камера Galaxy J6 (8 МП) с функцией «Сэлфи фокус» даёт возможность обрабатывать снимки после съёмки и настраивать размытие фона на фотографии. Samsung начинает принимать заказы на новые смартфоны Galaxy Star A9 и Galaxy Star A9 Lite

Samsung открыл в Китае предзаказ на новые модели смартфонов Galaxy Star A9 и Galaxy Star A9 Lite, хотя официально они будут представлены 7 июня.
Это довольно нетипично для южнокорейского брэнда, но как известно, Китай - это особый рынок, где требуется нестандартный подход. Скорее всего в Samsung хотят заранее определить возможный уровень спроса на эти девайсы, чтобы оперативно скорректировать производственные планы.
Старшая модель, получившая 4Гб ОЗУ и 64Гб встроенной флэш-памяти, оценена в $575. Также имеется дисплей Super AMOLED с диагональю порядка 6,28 дюйма, аккумуляторная батарея ёмкостью 3700 мА·ч и основная сдвоенная камера с датчиками разрешением 16 и 24Мп.
Galaxy Star A9 Lite тоже получил экран Super AMOLED, но меньшего размера. Основная камера – с теми же датчиками, ёмкость аккумуляторной батареи – 3500 мА·ч, а цена – около $420.
Заказы на Galaxy Star A9 и Galaxy Star A9 Lite принимаются до 14 июня, а с 15 июня стартуют розничные продажи.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Star, Galaxy A9 Star Lite: Launch Expected on June 7

Samsung has plans to upgrade the Galaxy A series with two new handsets, called the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite, as per several reports in the recent past. Now, the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite are expected to launch in China on June 7, according to an alleged official poster spotted online. Another leaked Samsung poster has given us a look at the Galaxy A9 Star Lite suggesting this might be a rebranded Galaxy A6 for the Chinese market. It also gives out certain specifications for the more premium Galaxy A9 Star. Lastly, the Galaxy A9 Star has been spotted on Taiwanese certification website NCC where certain design elements and specifications have been outed.
Let's start off with the leaked posters. The first poster, spotted on Weibo, states the launch of the two smartphones will be held in China at 2pm local time (11:30am IST) on June 7, and the phones are said to be available starting June 15 with pre-orders from June 7-14. Another leaked poster, this time spotted on Weico, gives us a look at both the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite. From the looks of it, the Galaxy A9 Star Lite resembles the Galaxy A6 and could be a rebranded version of the Galaxy A6 in China. Alternatively, while not with the same design, the Galaxy A9 Star could replace the Galaxy A6+ considering it has the same 24-megapixel selfie camera with AI-based capabilities.
Moving on to the NCC certification listing, first spotted by 91Mobiles. The report reveals live photos for Samsung's smartphone with model number SM-G885Y/DS, which is the dual-SIM variant of the phone. The images reveal a vertical dual camera setup at the back and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Bottom of the smartphone houses a Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Previously, the Galaxy A9 Star had reportedly been spotted on Geekbench. The smartphone is expected to sport a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. According to this listing, the Galaxy A9 Star is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

В отличие от старшей модели Galaxy J2 (2018), так называемая Pro-версия имеет на 0,5Гб меньший объём ОЗУ, лишена модулей поддержки связи 3G, 4G, а также Wi-Fi, что "отрезает" пользователя от привычного интернета. В качестве компенсации предустановлен ряд необходимых студентам приложений типа словаря, калькулятора и т.д., чтобы не отвлекать их от процесса обучения и полностью сосредоточится над самостоятельным решением поставленных экзаменаторами задач.
В смартфоне присутствуют стандартные камеры на 8 (основная) и 5 (сэлфи) мегапикселей, а также "старорежимная" мобильная связь 2G, позволяющая совершать звонки и отправлять SMS. Интерфейс устройства предельно упрощён, поэтому телефоном могут пользоваться пожилые люди, плохо разбирающиеся в устройстве современных гаджетов.  
Цена такой "эксклюзивной" новинки вовсе не копеечная - 185 долларов США. При этом в качестве бонуса Samsung предлагает всем студентам, купившим такую трубку до конца июня, вернуть потраченную сумму при условии покупки смартфонов премиальных и флагманских серий Galaxy A и Galaxy S по окончании экзаменационного периода, сообщает бизнес-портал The Investor.

Samsung releases budget phone with no data access

Samsung Electronics on April 13 released a new budget smartphone in Korea targeting students seeking to avoid distractions by restricting access to 3G and 4G networks as well as Wi-Fi.
The Korean tech giant said it has released the Galaxy J2 Pro, which supports basic features such as phone calls, text messages and cameras but cannot access the Internet. The model will not only be attractive to students but to seniors as well.
Samsung said the smartphone will still come with a dictionary application to help students find vocabulary words without having to access the web.
The smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.
The device comes with 1GB RAM and a 2,600mAh replaceable battery. The data storage capacity stands at 16GB.
The Galaxy J2 Pro comes in black and gold colors with a price tag of 199,100 won (US$185).
Samsung Electronics said students purchasing the Galaxy J2 Pro through June will receive a full refund through a special promotion if they buy the upper-level Galaxy S or Galaxy A smartphones after the end of their college exams.
