"Триколор" запустил своё приложение на TIZEN-телевизорах Samsung

Клиентам мультиплатформенного оператора цифровой среды "Триколор" стало доступно приложение «Триколор Онлайн ТВ» для телевизоров Samsung Smart TV на операционной платформе TIZEN.
С помощью приложения «Триколор Онлайн ТВ» любой действующий клиент "Триколора" – владелец телевизора Samsung на TIZEN OS, может пользоваться услугами оператора даже без подключения приёмного спутникового оборудования. 
Приложение «Триколор Онлайн ТВ» доступно на телевизорах Samsung, работающих на операционной системе TIZEN версии 2.3 и выше, подключённых к интернету. Для активации необходимо скачать и установить приложение из Samsung Apps, а также ввести свои идентификационные данные. 
В рамках сервиса у клиентов "Триколора" имеется возможность просмотра 141 канала, в том числе 29 – в формате HD. Количество телеканалов будет расти по мере достижения договорённостей с правообладателями. Пользователям приложения также доступно интерактивное управление эфиром: просмотр текущей передачи с начала, перемотка и пауза, доступ к уже прошедшим в эфире телепрограммам в течение 7 дней. 
Запуск приложения стал очередным шагом "Триколора" по формированию комфортного доступа к цифровой среде с любого устройства, в любом месте и вне зависимости от времени.

Разработчиком мультиплатформенного офисного пакета Collabio оказалась российская компания

На днях мы сообщали о выходе TIZEN-версии мощного офисного пакета Collabio , который можно установить на любой смартфон серии Samsung Z. Продукт обеспечивает широкие возможности при создании документов любой сложности (в том числе таблиц и диаграмм), а также работу с ними на стационарных десктопах.

В заметке было указано, что программа разработана британской компанией XCDS International Limited, однако выяснилось, что за её лондонским представительством скрывается российская компания "Новые облачные технологии" (НОТ), которой руководит Дмитрий Комиссаров.
Надо отметить, что "Новые облачные технологии" работают с TIZEN уже давно и неоднократно были замечены на соответствующих форумах создателей софта под TIZEN.
В то время как иные софтверные компании опасаются работать с TIZEN из-за того, что платформа ещё не получила массового распространения (имеется ввиду мобильная версия), НОТ продолжает работать с этой перспективной операционной системой, тем более что в ближайшем будущем её влияние существенно возрастёт в связи с бурным развитием такого направления как "интернет вещей" (IoT).
Кроме того, на территории России TIZEN используется в корпоративном секторе после выхода на рынок её локализованной версии с улучшенной защитой. В настоящее время здесь доступны смартфоны Samsung Z3, предназначенные для работы в бизнес-структарах и госсекторе. Например, компания "Газпром" закупила партию "корпоративных" Samsung Z3 с поддержкой LTE для коммуникаций своих сотрудников. Для местных пользователей НОТ выпускает похожий руссифицированный продукт под названием "МойОфис" , который показал себя вполне конкурентноспособным на фоне продукта Microsoft.
Гендиректор "Новых облачных технологий" Дмитрий Комиссаров поясняет, что его компания не пыталась создать полный аналог Microsoft Office, но реализовала в своём продукте примерно 80% функций, доступных в американской программе. Из отсутствующих он отметил поддержку макросов, но сделано это было для обеспечения безопасности.
Из преимуществ продукта представители НОТ отметили более низкую стоимость (на 30-40%), чем у корпоративных лицензий Microsoft Office при высокой совместимости с её продуктами, а также файлами формата .odt (применяется в популярных офисных пакетах Libre Office и Open Office), а также более высокую функциональность, чкм у других платных и бесплатных программ.
По мнению разработчиков, в российском пакете удобнее реализована мобильная версия и шире возможности по совместной работе.
"Новые облачные технологии" - российская компания-поставщик полнофункционального офисного ПО для рабочих станций и мобильных устройств. С 2013 года она создаёт программные продукты и облачные сервисы "МойОфис" для российских пользователей и Collabio Office для международного рынка.
Пакет "МойОфис" имеет версии для Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS и TIZEN.

Nuvyyo Tablo App Now Available for Samsung TIZEN Smart TVs

Tablo maker Nuvyyo hasn’t even been around for a decade yet, but it has accomplished quite a bit since its inception. Tablo is one of the few over-the-air (OTA) DVR options that not only manages to challenge TiVo when it comes to features, but is also easy to set up and use. Now, the Tablo app is available on TIZEN-powered Samsung smart TVs.
What sets Tablo DVRs aside from many OTA DVRs is that you’ll only need one DVR no matter how many TVs you have in your home. For any other TVs, just use the Tablo app, either on the TV itself or via an external streaming box. This is similar to what you’d get from a cable or satellite provider, only in this case, the Tablo DVR uses your home Wi-Fi to beam the OTA signal to other TVs.
The Tablo app is now available on most major smart TV platforms, including Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV and LG webOS. Of course, this doesn’t even include other platforms like the Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, PC, and Mac, which also have Tablo apps available. With the new app for TIZEN, all of the standard features are supported and presented in a format Nuvyyo says is designed specifically for TVs with larger screens.

Samsung объявил о глобальном выпуске специального приложения для страдающих дальтонизмом SeeColors, которое можно устанавливать на смарт-телевизоры последних поколений (QLED TV), использующих операционную систему TIZEN.

Samsung Launches SeeColors App for TIZEN-powered QLED TV to Support People with Color Vision Deficiency (CVD)

The SeeColors app, compatible with all QLED TVs, allows viewers with Color Vision Deficiency to truly enjoy the experience of seeing accurate color through their adjusted displays

Samsung Electronics announced the launch of SeeColors app for QLED TV, which is compatible with all Samsung QLED TVs. The SeeColors app for QLED TV helps people with Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) diagnose their personal visual deficiencies through the app. Based on individual diagnosis results, QLED TVs, featuring 100% color volume, adjusts the color settings on the display, allowing viewers with CVD to enjoy a viewing experience in accurate color.
“Samsung is committed to making people’s everyday lives smarter and more convenient through technology and innovation,” said Hyeongnam Kim, Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “The launch of SeeColors for QLED TV embodies this mission by providing users with a way to address one of the world’s biggest optical challenges through the latest technologies and visual displays.”
Nearly 300 million people globally have CVD, with approximately 8% of men and up to 1% of women affected*, based on a representative survey conducted in Europe and North America. However, the majority of people with CVD are unaware of their condition and the impact it has on their quality of life.
Through the SeeColors app on the TV, users can identify the type and level of their CVD then directly recalibrate their QLED TV screen based on their personal diagnosis results. To offer an easy and precise method for people to diagnose CVD, Samsung Electronics partnered with Professor Klara Wenzel who heads up the Department of Mechatronics, Optics and Mechanical Engineering Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, to adopt the Colorlite Test, or C-Test, for TV and mobile devices. C-Test, developed by Professor Wenzel, is a digital diagnosis test that uses the concept of color filters and mathematical modeling to diagnose levels of CVD. Adopting the C-Test through the SeeColors app has resulted in a simple solution which gives everybody the opportunity to see the world in full color.
The SeeColors app is available for download from the Smart TV App store. Users can also download the app to conduct the diagnosis through Google Play and the Galaxy App Store for Samsung Galaxy smartphones S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge and S8 devices. Once users connect their Galaxy smartphone to their QLED TV, the TV will automatically adjust the color setting based on the user’s diagnosis.
The SeeColors app is created in partnership with Colorlite®, a Hungarian company that applies certified technology based on 20 years of scientific research to lenses to help people address CVD. The SeeColors app marks the first time Colorlite® is being used on TVs and smartphone devices.

Samsung предлагает более совершенное приложение безопасности для пользователей мобильных устройств вместо My KNOX

Наделавшее много шума в профильных СМИ сообщение о том, что с декабря текущего года мобильное приложение My KNOX, обеспечивающее дополнительную безопасность пользователей устройств от Samsung, не будет доступно, оказалось, мягко говоря, полуправдой.
На самом деле южнокорейский техногигант предложил использовать вместо My KNOX более совершенный продукт под названием "Защищённая папка", о чём уведомил всех посетителей магазина приложений GooglePlay:

"В 2017 году приложение My Knox станет недоступным на новых устройствах Samsung. Новым пользователям рекомендуется загрузить и установить новое приложение “Защищенная папка” — решение с расширенными возможностями безопасности и конфиденциальности, предназначенное для новых мобильных устройств серии Galaxy от Samsung. Те, кто уже пользуется My Knox на устройствах с ОС Android N или более новой версии, могут создать резервную копию данных My Knox и восстановить ее в приложении “Защищенная папка”, чтобы без проблем сохранить преимущества защищенного пространства. Благодарим вас за использование My Knox. Приносим извинения за неудобства, вызванные прекращением поддержки этого сервиса."

Следует отметить, что это обычная практика в мире бурно развивающихся мобильных технологий. Новые смартфоны и планшеты работают на гораздо более продвинутых аппаратно-программных платформах, поэтому замена ПО, обеспечивающего безопасность персональных данных клиентов, необходима при переходе к новым поколениям гаджетов. Говорить о том, что Samsung якобы "бросил" пользователей мобильных девайсов, просто глупо.

Вышло обновление сервиса Telegram для TIZEN-смартфонов Samsung Z

Индонезийский институт исследований и разработок Samsung (Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia/SRIN) выпустил важное обновление для популярного мессенджера Telegram, устанавливаемого на TIZEN-смартфоны Samsung.
Обновление не только исправляет некоторые ошибки, но и добавляет сразу 11 новых функций, которые пользователи наверняка оценят по достоинству.
Самым ценным можно считать поддержку секретного чата, благодаря которому собеседники могут не беспокоиться о приватности переписки. Теперь в Telegram осуществляется шифрование через протокол MTProto. Это означает, что ознакомится с содержанием не смогут даже хорошо технически оснащённые спецслужбы, поскольку в чате регулярно меняются ключи шифрования, а связь устанавливается строго по запросу от клиента к клиенту, после чего между смартфонами собеседников организуется закодированный канал. Единственным ограничением является лишь то, что в данном случае невозможно вести групповую переписку.
Следующим нововведением стало наличие цифрового бота, который может быть интегрирован в различные Telegram-сообщества, чтобы отвечать на сообщения или управлять контентом по заданному пользователяем сценарию.
Кроме того, введены такие услуги как электронный стикер (дополнительные эмодзи, которые можно заимствовать у других участников чата), обновление уведомлений, история чата, хранилище изображений, поддержка Центра претензий, обновление безопасности и конфиденциальности и т.д.
Таким образом, пользователи TIZEN-смартфонов серии Samsung Z получают достаточный набор услуг в Telegram, который мало чем отличается от тех, что установлены на самых распространённых платформах Android и iOS.
В перспективе Telegram планирует добавление функции голосового вызова на основе технологии нейронных сетей.

Samsung Electronics Launches ‘Relúmĭno’ Visual Aid Application for the Visually Impaired

Samsung Electronics announced that it will launch ‘Relúmĭno,’ a visual aid application for the people with low vision.
‘Relúmĭno’ is a visual aid application that works in conjunction with the Gear VR to enhance the vision of visually impaired people. Users with newer models of Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S8 and S8+ will be able to download ‘Relúmĭno’ for free in the Oculus Store with support for both English and Korean. ‘Relúmĭno’ does not provide support for the totally blind.
“Relúmĭno will be the life-changer for 240 million of the visually impaired people around the world and we promise a firm and continuing support,” said Jaiil Lee, Vice President and Head of Creativity & Innovation Center at Samsung Electronics.
The visual aid application processes images from videos projected through the rear camera of a smartphone and makes the images visually-impaired-friendly. More specifically, its major features include magnifying and minimizing image; highlighting the image outline; adjusting color contrast and brightness; reversing color; and screen color filtering. The end effect is that ‘Relúmĭno’ enables visually challenged people to see images clearer when they are reading a book or viewing an object.
For those suffering from a blind spot in vision or the Tunnel Vision, which is the loss of peripheral vision with retention of central vision, ‘Relúmĭno’ aids by remapping unseen images to place in visible parts of the eye. Specifically, when users set the sizes of a blind spot or tunnel vision for the first use, the application automatically places the blind point in the visible surrounding parts and puts images within the ‘tunnel’ or visible range, helping users who have a visual field defect to see things better. Unlike other visual aids with similar quality that often cost thousands of dollars, ‘Relúmĭno’ users can enjoy equivalent features at a much more affordable price.
Earlier this year in Barcelona, Relúmĭno drew much attention in Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry. Samsung’s in-house incubator program, C-Lab received positive feedback for showcasing a technology developed to help the physically challenged people rather than pursuing profits with conventional VR devices.
Selected as a C-Lab project last May, Relúmĭno was first designed to help the visually impaired people enjoy daily activities such as watching TV and reading books like people with no physical handicap. The project members named its application ‘Relúmĭno’ meaning ‘Light up again’ in Latin as they wanted to help the visually impaired people feel the joy of daily activities that most people usually take for granted.
While most C-Lab projects are completed within a year, Relúmĭno will continue to carry out follow-up tasks. It plans to develop glasses-like products so that the visually impaired people can use the visual aids in their daily life without grabbing others’ attentions. In addition, the team will continuously address inconveniences that arise from the recently released application by getting users’ feedback.
Launched in December 2012, C-Lab is a startup business program that nurtures a creative corporate culture and innovative ideas among Samsung employees. The program supports projects that contribute to society like ‘Relúmĭno’ in addition to IT projects related to the Internet of Things (IoT), wearables and virtual reality.

Thanks, Samsung: Android's best mobile browser now available to all

Safari and Google Chrome are installed as default web browsers on most mobile devices. But there are other options - and Samsung's exclusive mobile browser is now available for all users of the most recent versions of Android.

I previously wrote that Samsung's Galaxy S8 apps are better than Google's - and now Android L and later owners can install Samsung Internet for free.
Apple iPhones include Safari as the default web browser while most Android phones have Google Chrome as the default. Samsung Galaxy owners have had the Samsung Internet browser available for years. Other mobile browser options include Firefox and Opera.
After using them all on various devices, the best I have found is the Samsung Internet browser.
You might think Google Chrome is the best for Android devices, but it is not well optimized for mobile and only adds in features found in Samsung Internet if you jump into hidden settings and even then the performance is not consistent. Here are several reasons why Samsung Internet is best:

1) Controls at the bottom: With today's large screen smartphones, it is much easier to use the browser with the main navigation options at the bottom. Back, forward, home, bookmarks, and tabs are found on the bottom of the Samsung Internet browser.
2) True full screen viewing: Most browsers have a "full screen" mode that then still shows some controls or menu options. As soon as you start scrolling down a page with the Samsung browser, the entire display fills with your internet content and you enjoy the internet as it was designed.
3) Reader mode: One reason I like Safari on the iPhone is for its integrated reader mode that strips out and reformats content for an optimal reading experience. Chrome hacks can give you a similar, but limited experience, as well, but Samsung's browser supports it by default and it works very well.
4) High contrast mode: This modes makes browsing the web for those with impaired vision much better and it is easily toggled by tapping the Settings > Accessibility option in the browser settings.
5) Desktop syncing: Samsung Internet supports tons of extensions, including a desktop Chrome extension, so you can sync your Google Chrome desktop bookmarks with the Samsung Internet browser.
6) Easy support for content blockers: I understand ad review supports many sites, but sometimes it is overbearing and you want to block ads or content. Samsung Internet supports content blockers with suggested ad blockers provided right within the browser.
7) Experimental features: Similar to Chrome flags, enter internet://flags in the URL line of Samsung Internet and enable features such as WebVR, Web Bluetooth, WebGL 2, and many more.

If you own a non-Galaxy Android L and above smartphone, then I recommend you visit the Google Play Store for the Samsung Internet browser beta, version 6.2, and give it a try. You might agree with me that it is the best on today's smartphones.

Samsung releases Valve’s Steam Link app for its Smart TVs for the first time in the TV industry, allowing users to enjoy thousands of PC games through big-screen TVs

Samsung Electronics announced today the expansion of Valve’s Steam Link to all of its 2016 and 2017 Smart TVs, including the recently released QLED TV line. Samsung is the first TV manufacturer to have this application live on its Smart TVs.
Instead of connecting Steam Link hardware to the TV, this technology enables users to stream their favorite games from their in-home PC directly to their Samsung Smart TVs via an app in the Samsung Smart Hub. If users connect the in-home PC and TV and run a Steam Link game service on their PC, they can play the game on their Samsung Smart TV screen via the Steam Link app.
The Steam Link app, which was previously available as a free beta version in the U.S. market, is now available in 55 countries, including the U.S., the U.K. and Korea. It supports full 4K streaming on 2017 TV models, and allows Samsung Smart TV users to enjoy thousands of PC games through their big-screen TVs.
