Смартфоны Samsung Galaxy A50 сразу же после выхода на рынок несколько месяцев назад стали бестселлером во многих странах мира. Всего за 300 долларов пользователи этих устройств получили от A-брэнда многие опции флагманских моделей, например подэкранный сканер отпечатков пальцев, ёмкий аккумулятор и новейшую 10-нанометровую вычислительную платформу.
Однако, Galaxy A50 всё же уступали флагманам в количестве опций при съёмке фото и видео, несмотря на наличие весьма неплохих основных камер с тремя оптическими модулями. 
И вот, чтобы ещё больше повысить конкурентоспособность аппарата на фоне более дешёвых китайских соперников, южнокорейский техногигант неожиданно выкатил мощное программное обновление для камер, установленных в A50.
Новое ПО приносит аппаратам сразу две полезные функции: ночной режим и режим Super Slow-mo (эффект замедления движущихся объектов). Более того, теперь с помощью камеры можно напрямую сканировать QR-коды без активации AI-помощника Bixby.
Но и это ещё не всё. Обновление также содержит июньский патч безопасности.
Корпорация начала распространять это ПО в Индии, но в ближайшее время оно будет доступно и для пользователей этих устройств в других странах. 

Samsung Galaxy A50: June Security Update Brings Night Mode and Slow-Mo Video Recording

Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy A50 in India which brings in the June 2019 security patch to the phone.
This new firmware requires a 422MB download and sports version number A505FDDU2ASF2. And, while the changelog only mentions improvements to the stability of Knox Guard and security of the device, a user has reported that this build also brings in new camera features to the Galaxy A50 like Night Mode and Super Slo-Mo video recording.
However, these features aren't automatically accessible and you have to reset the camera settings to use them.
Additionally, this update also adds the ability to scan QR codes from the camera app without Bixby Vision.
This firmware is rolling out over-the-air and you can head over to your phone's Settings > Software update menu to try pulling it manually if you haven't received a notification yet.

Чтобы "заскринить" длинную статью или картинку, которая не помещается в один экран, нужно сделать скриншот обычным способом — ладонью или с помощью комбинации клавиш — и зажать значок прокрутки внизу станицы. Функция "сошьет" на скриншоте несколько экранов в один.

* Фото голосом и жестами

Чтобы сделать фото, достаточно показать камере раскрытую ладонь или произнести одну из команд: «сфотографировать», «снять», «улыбнитесь» или «снимаю». Команда для видео – «запись видео». 
Предварительно следует выбрать способ съёмки в настройках камеры.

* Защищённая папка

В Samsung с помощью предустановленного приложения «Защищённая папка» можно создать секретную зону для важной информации и приложений. Она представляет собой «Android внутри Android» с отдельным экраном и системой установки приложений, но никак не взаимодействует с основной ОС.

* Режим нескольких окон

Эта опция позволяет открывать сразу два приложения в разных окнах, каждое — на половину экрана. Например, можно одновременно работать с документами и обсуждать их по видеосвязи.

* Быстрый перенос данных

Приложение Smart Switch позволяет быстро перенести на новый гаджет контакты, фотографии, музыку, видео, календарные события и приложения. Сделать это можно через USB-кабель, компьютер или беспроводным способом.

* Пользовательские сценарии Bixby (только для флагманских моделей серии Galaxy S и Galaxy Note последних 2-х лет) 

Смартфон предлагает использовать предустановленные или задать свои сценарии. Например, всегда переходить в тёмный режим по вечерам или отключать звук, когда владелец приходит на работу.

* Режим Always On Display

Режим позволяет вывести на выключенный экран время, дату, уровень заряда батареи, уведомления о сообщениях и звонках. Они всегда будут видны, активировать телефон не требуется.

* Сервис «Найти телефон»

Сервис позволяет удалённо отслеживать потерянный гаджет, заблокировать экран и кнопку питания, отключить доступ к Samsung Pay и удалить все данные с телефона. Если на утерянном гаджете поменяют SIM-карту, сервис узнает новый номер.

* Детский режим

На флагманах Samsung можно создать отдельную учётную запись для ребёнка (будут доступны определённые игры, мультфильмы и развлекательные приложения). Доступа к нежелательным сайтам, контактам и фотографиям родителя у ребёнка не будет.

Samsung продолжает последовательно распространять обновления операционной системы для недорогих аппаратов, выпущенных в последние 2-3 года.

Samsung to update previous devices to use Bixby 2.0

Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it will use the Bixby 2.0 artificial intelligence platform in devices released before its Galaxy Note 9 flagship smartphone and invite more users to use the latest system.
The South Korean tech giant, which launched New Bixby in August alongside its latest high-end smartphone, the Galaxy Note 9, said the application will be provided to users with older devices, including the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, by the end of the month. The update will be intstalled when a phone updates to the Android 9.0 operating system.
The latest move is in line with Samsung's efforts to beef up the number of Bixby users. The company recently launched test runs of Bixby 2.0 in German, French, British English, Italian and Spanish.
Samsung claims that, compared to the original version, New Bixby is better in terms of understanding context and connecting to third-party applications. Samsung said it plans to expand the system's ecosystem by opening up the software developers' kit and inducing more developers to release "capsules," a term the company uses to describe services available on Bixby 2.0.
The tech giant plans to kick off its Bixby Marketplace next year.

Это весьма удобно, ежели у вас смартфон с большим вытянутым дисплеем. Он был представлен в начале ноября в рамках конференции для разработчиков Samsung Developer Conference 2018 (SDC18) и, в конечном итоге, придёт на замену текущему Samsung Experience.
В новейшей оболочке корпорация уделила большое внимание возможности пользоваться большим телефоном одной рукой. Чтобы этого добиться, разработчики интерфейса перенесли область управления на нижнюю часть экрана. The South Korean tech giant is also known for testing out Android Pie for Galaxy Note 8 which may bring the new user interface. The next phone that will implement One UI is the upcoming Galaxy S10. As for the One UI with Android 9 Pie beta for the S9 and S9+, the one has finally arrived.
Last week, Samsung published a video introduction over on YouTube that shows how the One UI is “Made to focus”. We’ve seen One UI beta screenshots for Galaxy S9 earlier but the video is a closer preview.
From the video, we can gather the new Samsung UI will allow users to focus more on things that are important. Most Samsung phones have large displays so it can be a challenge at times to navigate. That changes with One UI.
The new Samsung One UI will help the user focus on one task at hand. It offers a more natural interaction with features frequently used. One UI can also show the content you care about at a glance.

На днях отделение Samsung France раскрыло часть новаций, которые принесёт на смартфоны лидера мобильного рынка обновление Android 9.0 Pie. Например, вскоре можно будет получить доступ к учётной записи Samsung Cloud в вэб-браузере стационароного компьютера или ноутбука, в то время как раньше доступ был возможен лишь с мобильных устройств.
Для входа будет достаточно отрыть в браузере соответствующую страницу и ввести данные учётной записи. Затем можно просмотреть все данные, сохранённые в Samsung Cloud. Большую часть данных, включая сообщения и контакты, можно по желанию удалять прямо из браузера, а фото из синхронизированной галереи можно даже скопировать на ПК.

Samsung Cloud management possible in a desktop browser

Over the weekend, Samsung France revealed some of the features and changes that Android 9.0 Pie will bring to Samsung smartphones. One interesting little nugget in there was that Samsung Cloud can be accessed in a web browser. It’s unclear how long this has been available, but you can now manage your Samsung Cloud data using a browser on a desktop PC or laptop.
It’s simple, really. You just visit this website and then login with your Samsung account credentials to see all the data saved on Samsung Cloud. Much of the data, such as messages and contacts, can only be deleted from the browser. You can, however, download items such as your synced gallery pictures. Samsung’s 15GB of free storage isn’t great for backing up photos, but if you have opted for paid higher storage plans, you might like the idea of being able to download some or all of those pictures on your computer.

Официально представители Samsung Mobile пока не сообщали, когда именно их смартфоны получат обновление до Android 9.0 Pie. Но в базе данных тестового пакета GFXBench уже замечен смартфон Samsung Galaxy S9+, который работает под управлением операционной системы Android 9.0 Pie.
Причём пометка Invalid Android Samsung-ss Edition означает, что GFXBench впервые столкнулся с новой версией фирменной графической оболочки Samsung Experience, которая пока не распознаётся бенчмарком.
Нетрудно предположить, что первыми Android 9.0 Pie получат флагманские смартфоны Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ и Note9. Тот факт, что прошивка уже тестируется, может означать, что до релиза нового ПО осталось не так много времени.

Usually, benchmark tools listings are used to spot newly and still unreleased devices and perhaps unearth some of the key specs like chipset, RAM, screen, camera, etc. This time around, however, a GFXBench listing tells us that Samsung, or at least someone, is testing the Galaxy S9+ with Android 9.0 Pie.
According to the report, the device is running the latest version of Google's mobile OS and an "invalid Android Samsung-ss Edition" software on top. Probably Samsung's Experience UI that's currently unrecognizable by the benchmark app.
Anyway, there's nothing else we could gather from the report but since Samsung has been pretty silent about the Android Pie release schedule, every bit of information is welcome. At least, it serves as a reassurance that Samsung's developers' team is working on the new software version.
