THE INVESTOR: Samsung выпустит складной смартфон раньше Huawei

Ожидается, что Samsung Electronics вскоре выпустит широкий ассортимент смартфонов-трансформеров, в том числе складывающихся наружу. Об этом 27 июня сообщили корреспонденту бизнес-портала The Investor источники, знакомые с этим вопросом.
Неназванные информаторы сказали, что раскладной смартфон Samsung будет опережать конкурента от Huawei Technologies. 
«Дата запуска пока не объявлена, но, скорее всего, она будет раньше, чем дата, установленная для аппарата от Huawei», - сказал один из информаторов на условиях анонимности. «Samsung уже начал выпуск телефонов, складывающихся наружу».
Ожидается, что Huawei начнёт продажи своего первого складного планшетофона не позднее сентября, согласно заявлению Винсента Панга, президента западноевропейского отделения Huawei.
Ранее компания собиралась выпустить смартфон летом. Но в интервью порталу Techradar.com Панг сказал, что задержка произошла из-за того, что Huawei пытается включить опцию поддержки сетей пятого поколения (5G) на эту модель. 
Тем не менее, аналитики говорят, что затянувшаяся торговая война между Пекином и Вашингтоном может стать более важным фактором. Huawei изо всех сил пыталась нанять альтернативных поставщиков компонентов после того, как правительство США внесло китайскую фирму в чёрный список организаций-нарушителей патентных прав, а также за шпионскую деятельность и поддержку Ирана, находящегося под санкциями.
«Опередив Huawei и выпустив первые массовые складывающиеся смартфоны, Samsung может претендовать на очередной титул чемпиона мира», - сказал один из рыночных наблюдателей. 
На фоне общего спада мобильной отрасли складные девайсы являются наиболее ожидаемыми продуктами, наряду с телефонами 5G. Согласно отчёту Counterpoint Technology Market Research от 23 июня, мировые продажи премиальных смартфонов в 1-м квартале снизились на 8% по сравнению с аналогичным периодом прошлого года.
Впервые Samsung демонстрировал прототип складного телефона в прошлом году, но запуск был намечен только на апрель 2019-го. Однако из-за ряда проблем релиз сдвинули на более поздний срок. Теперь, согласно сообщениям южнокорейского портала ETNews от 26 июня, запуск должен состояться в ближайшее время. 
Уже в 2020-м году Samsung будет продвигать различные типы мобильных устройств - как складывающихся внутрь, так и наружу, а также девайсы, похожие на раскладушки, которые открываются и закрываются вертикально.
В руководстве Samsung сообщили, что складные смартфоны станут новым "секретным оружием" корпорации. 26 июня, в ходе форума инвесторов Samsung, старший вице-президент подразделения мобильной связи Ли Чон-мин намекал на разнообразную линейку складных устройств, добавив, что флагманские смартфоны Samsung следующего поколения будут именно складными устройствами. 
«Такие смартфоны обеспечивают совершенно другой пользовательский уровень», - сказал Ли. «Я не думаю, что смогу вернуться к старой платформе смартфонов».
Другой рыночный обозреватель сказал, что у Samsung нет никаких причин отказываться от выпуска складывающихся мобильных трубок, поскольку у корпорации имеется наиболее продвинутая технология изготовления таких гаджетов: «Это будет отличная возможность оценить реакцию клиентов и влияние новых форм-факторов на потребительский спрос».
В феврале этого года Samsung представил свой первый складывающийся внутрь смартфон Galaxy Fold. Тем не менее, его не смогли запустить в соответствии с графиком в апреле из-за проблем с надёжностью конструкции. 
Недавно в Samsung Display заявили, что массово производят панели для этого телефона, хотя другие утверждают, что Samsung решил вообще пропустить базовую 4G-модель и планирует в июле начать продажи следующей версии, которая должна быть оснащена 5G-модемом.

THE INVESTOR: Samsung to launch out-folding smartphone ahead of Huawei

Samsung Electronics is expected to soon release a wide range of foldable smartphones, including one that folds outward, sources familiar with the matter told The Investor on June 27. 
They said the out-folding phone would come ahead of Huawei Technologies’ version of the foldable phone. 
“The launch date has yet to be unveiled, but it’s likely to be earlier than the date set for Huawei,” said one of the sources on the condition of anonymity. “Samsung has already begun producing  the outward folding phone.”
Huawei is expected to begin selling its out-folding phone in September at the latest, according to Vincent Pang, the company’s president for Western Europe. 
The firm had earlier expected to launch the phone in summer. Pang told Techradar.com that the delay occurred because Huawei is trying to enable the fifth-generation network on the out-folding phone. 
However, analysts say the prolonged trade war between Beijing and Washington could be a bigger factor. Huawei has been struggling to hire suppliers after being placed on the Entity List by the US government. 
“By getting ahead of Huawei and producing the first mass-produced out-folding smartphones, Samsung can claim another world title,” said one market watcher. 
Foldable phones are the most anticipated products in the smartphone market, along with 5G phones, amid a slowdown in the industry overall. According to a report by Counterpoint Technology Market Research on June 23, global sales of premium smartphones declined 8 percent on-year in the first quarter.
Samsung had produced a prototype of an out-folding phone last year but decided to push for an in-folding device instead. It will now push for various types of fordable phones - both inward- and outward-folding phones as well as clamshell-like devices, which open and close vertically, as early as 2020, according to local media ET news on June 26. 
Samsung's executives have signaled that foldable smartphones will be the company's next secret weapon. During the Samsung Investors Forum on June 26, Lee Jong-min, senior vice president at Samsung’s mobile communication business, hinted at a varied lineup of foldable phones, adding that Samsung’s next-generation smartphones would be led by foldable devices. 
“Foldable smartphones provide a whole different user experience,” Lee said. “I don’t think I could go back to the old smartphone platform.”
Another market watcher said there is no reason for Samsung not to produce out-folding phones, as it has the technology. “This will be a great chance to gauge customers’ appetite and the impact of the new phones.” 
Samsung introduced its first inward-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, in February this year. However, it was unable to launch as scheduled in April due to durability issues with the display. 
Samsung Display recently said it was mass producing the panels for this phone, but others argue that Samsung has decided to skip it altogether and is looking to create the next version, which could be 5G-equipped, as early as July.

В Сети появилась предварительная информация о скором запуске в продажу нового смартфона Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s. Предположительно, на европейский рынок эта модель поступит 12 июня по цене около 250 евро.
Дизайн выполнен в традиционном для этой серии защищённых гаджетов стиле.
Разумеется, за такую цену характеристики не будут флагманскими, но вполне удовлетворят большинство любителей дальних походов и экстремального отдыха.

The New Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s

Samsung will soon launch a new affordable rugged smartphone called the Galaxy XCover 4s, details of which have been leaked along with press renders by WinFuture.de. The Galaxy XCover 4s recently picked up some important certifications on its road to an official launch, and some European retailers may begin selling it as soon as June 12, with a price tag of 250 euros.
Like previous Xcover phones, the XCover 4s will have a rubber coating for enhanced grip and impact resistance that meets MIL-STD 810G standards for ruggedness, making it safe from falls from a height of 120 centimeters. It also has IP68 water and dust resistance, same as Samsung’s flagship phones, along with a dedicated physical ‘XCover key’ that can be assigned to launch any app or function — like the camera or the phone’s flashlight — with a single press.
As for the specs, the XCover 4s is a very humble package, sporting a traditional 5-inch 720p display, Exynos 7885 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. There’s a 16-megapixel F1.7 rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. A 2,800 mAh battery will keep the lights on; the battery is removable, which is a rare sight in general these days and even rarer for water resistant phones. The XCover 4s runs Android Pie out of the box, weighs 172 grams, and is 9.7 mm thick.

Новый Galaxy A70 представляе собой мощное мобильное устройство, которое разработано для требовательных пользователей с ограниченным бюджетом.
Заявленный ценник заметно ниже, чем у флагманских аппаратов серии Galaxy S, но при этом новинка не сильно уступает своим старшим собратьям.
Надо отметить, что перосмысление политики Samsung в борьбе с китайскими конкурентами начало приносить свои плоды. На многих рынках (особенно в Индии) южнокорейский техногигант постепенно возвращает лидерские позиции за счёт более оперативного вывода привлекательных и относительно недорогих моделей.
В качестве главного "тарана" была выбрана линейка Galaxy A, которая после основательной "перетрубации" поглотила линейку популярных бюджетников Galaxy J, сохранив при этом средний и премиальный сегменты. В результате получился весьма широкий набор добротных предложений для людей с разным достатком и уровнем требований к своему мобильному помощнику.

Большие смртфоны нынче в моде, однако существует немалое количество тех, кто нуждается в компактных моделях, которых днём с огнём не найдёшь.
Чтобы удовлетворить потребности любителей компактных гаджетов, Samsung собирается запустить в производство оригинальных смартфонов-марок под названием Stamp, которые можно даже прикрепить к стене благодаря липкой поверхности тыльной стороны.
Из-за этого конструкторам пришлось отказаться от встроенной камеры, но зато во всём остальном необычный гаджет мало чем уступит недорогим смартфонам конкурентов, сообщает австралийский портал Pickr.
Чтобы обеспечить работу столь миниатюрного устройства, было принято решение предустанавливать туда экономичную операционную систему TIZEN, а не громоздкий и прожорливый Android. В результате удалось ограничиться лишь 1Гб оперативной памяти и 4Гб дискового пространства, как у смарт-часов.
Чтобы обеспечить работу с неограниченным количеством файлов, учитывая малый объём постоянной памяти у Stamp, Samsung предлагает использовать фирменный облачный сервис.  
Конечно, инженерам пришлось пойти на кое-какие компромиссы. Например, разместить много иконок приложений на титульной странице не получится, поэтому сюда выведены лишь наиболее важные виртуальные кнопки активации, отвечающие за мобильную связь, выход в интернет и галерею с изображениями и видеофайлами.
Принцип работы компактного смартфона будущего мало чем отличается от того, что предлагают его "большие" собратья. Информацию о цене и дате релиза в Samsung пока не озвучили.    

Samsung saves smartphone space with Stamp

Big screens are all the rage, but what about small screens? They are incredibly hard to find in phones, though that might be changing as Samsung reveals something smaller than the rest.
You might like the big smartphones we’re all seeing, the devices sporting screen sizes as big as six to seven inches diagonal, but not everyone does.
In fact, the small smartphone has really taken a backseat as of late. Several years ago, manufacturers would offer both types of devices, providing a small screen option alongside the bigger phones, though we’re seeing far less of that lately.
These days, less is still more, and if you want something like a smaller version of the 6.5 inch iPhone XS Max, you’re still stuck with either a 5.8 inch iPhone XS or one of the older 4.7 inch iPhone models.
The same is largely true in the Android world, where small screen smartphones have largely become extinct. Sony used to do a compact model, but with Sony departing from Australia and no compact variant on the horizon internationally, that seems to be less of a thing.
In fact, if you want say a small Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you’re looking at this year’s Galaxy S10e, a phone that isn’t all that small, offering a screen size of 5.8 inches.
But there may be hope for folks looking for a smaller screen smartphone experience, as Samsung unveils the Samsung Stamp.
Exactly what it sounds like, the Samsung Stamp is a stamp-shaped smartphone with a slightly bigger size than a standard postage stamp. While stamps are traditionally 1 to 2 inches along the sides, the Samsung Stamp is closer to three, offering a 3.4 inch screen displaying a resolution of 800×600.
Bizarrely, that’s not far from what the Galaxy S2 presented years ago, telling you just how far we’ve come in screen technology.
Under the hood, there’s a low-end processor, 1GB RAM, and 4GB of storage, which makes the Samsung Stamp more like a smartwatch, something Samsung has considerable experience in crafting.
There’s also support for 4G here, as well as Bluetooth and WiFi, though you may be surprised to find no camera. We guess something had to give in the Stamp’s positively small stature.
However there are some nice touches, such as a rubber edging designed to make the Stamp easy to grip, with a pattern much like that of a postage stamp. The back is reportedly using a type of rubber that adheres to surfaces easily, too, making it a smartphone that uniquely sticks to the wall.
There’s not much screen real estate to speak of, so don’t expect to be playing games, though Samsung is equipping the Stamp with a photos app that will automatically run a slideshow of your images like a digital photo frame, and it even comes with a miniature YouTube app to play videos on the device.
When it’s not doing anything, it will — like Samsung’s Galaxy wearables — run a clock, though given the rectangular design, the clock faces you can expect will likely be different. And yes, you can make phone calls on the Samsung Stamp, though to move numbers across, you’ll need to have the phone sync with a supported service, such as a Google account.
Much like its wearables, you can also expect TIZEN under the hood, meaning the interface will be streamlined and made to be easy.
“We know the big phone isn’t for everyone, which is why we’re sending a message loud and clear with the Samsung Stamp. This is a phone for a post-phone world, and one that frames your experience in the smallest of sizes,” said a spokesperson for the company.
As for availability and pricing, your guess is as good as ours, though we’ll bug Samsung’s local arm and find out whether the Samsung Stamp will turn up in mailboxes for folks who hate being stuck with a big screen, and would prefer something just that much more discrete.
