Samsung Electronics объявляет, что функция ЭКГ в приложении Samsung Health Monitor получила одобрение Министерства продовольственной безопасности и лекарственных средств Южной Кореи (MFDS). Для снятия показаний электрокардиограммы будет использоваться передовая сенсорная технология, доступная на носимых устройствах Galaxy Watch Active2(1). Функция позволит пользователям измерять и анализировать свой сердечный ритм, оперативно выявляя нарушения, связанные с фибрилляцией предсердий(2).

Фибрилляция предсердий – наиболее распространённая аномалия сердечного ритма, поражающая около 33,5 миллиона человек во всём мире(3). Ежегодно она диагностируется у 5 миллионов новых пациентов. Это заболевание может значительно увеличить риск возникновения осложнений, в том числе тромбов, сердечной недостаточности и инсульта. Ежегодно инсульт переносят более 16 миллионов человек, причём его основными причинами являются именно фибрилляция предсердий и повышенное кровяное давление (гипертония) (4).

Приложение Samsung Health Monitor также недавно получило одобрение MFDS для измерения кровяного давления (КД). Это означает, что пользователи носимых устройств Samsung смогут мониторить ЭКГ и КД, чтобы лучше оценивать общее состояние своего здоровья. Сочетание инновационной технологии ЭКГ с инструментами для измерения кровяного давления позволит людям отслеживать эти важные показатели, контролируя их в любое время.

Функция мониторинга электрокардиограммы работает путём анализа электрической активности сердца с помощью датчика ЭКГ на Galaxy Watch Active2. Для того, чтобы ею воспользоваться, необходимо открыть приложение Samsung Health Monitor, сидя в удобном положении, и убедиться, что носимое устройство плотно прилегает к запястью. Затем расположить предплечье на плоской поверхности и удерживать кончик пальца противоположной руки на верхней кнопке Galaxy Watch Active2 в течение 30 секунд. В это время приложение измерит частоту сердечных сокращений и ритм, который будет классифицирован как синусовый ритм (нормальное, регулярное сердцебиение) или фибрилляция предсердий (сердце бьется нерегулярно) (5).

Запись ЭКГ, особенно в сочетании с показателями артериального давления, предоставит информацию о состоянии здоровья пользователя и позволит ему поделиться результатами с врачом для принятия более обоснованных решений и рекомендаций по образу жизни.

Electrocardiogram Monitoring Cleared for Galaxy Watch Active2 by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety

Electrocardiogram monitoring joins blood pressure measurement in receiving clearance, making the Galaxy Watch Active2 Samsung’s most informed and convenient health tracker yet

Samsung Electronics announced today that the Electrocardiogram (ECG) function of the Samsung Health Monitor app has been cleared by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). The ECG feature uses advanced sensor technology on the Galaxy Watch Active2 (1), and will enable users to measure and analyze their heart rhythm for irregularities indicating Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). (2)

AFib is the most common abnormal heart rhythm, affecting an estimated 33.5 million people worldwide, with 5 million new patients diagnosed annually.(3) It can significantly increase the risk of complications, including blood clots, heart failure and stroke. Every year, over 16 million people will develop a stroke, of which AFib and high blood pressure (hypertension), are known to be the leading causes.(4)

The Samsung Health Monitor app also recently received MFDS clearance for blood pressure (BP) measurement, meaning users will be able to conveniently measure both ECG and BP, giving them a better picture of their overall health. Together, the ground-breaking ECG and BP technology will help users manage and improve their health by providing on-demand measurements.

The ECG function works by analyzing the heart’s electrical activity via an ECG sensor on the Galaxy Watch Active2. Simply open the Samsung Health Monitor app when you are seated comfortably, and ensure the watch is fitted firmly to your wrist. Next, rest your forearm on a flat surface and lightly place a fingertip from the opposite hand on the top button on the Galaxy Watch Active2 for 30 seconds. The app will then measure your heart rate and rhythm, which will be classified as either a Sinus Rhythm (a normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (when the heart beats irregularly).(5)

This recording will provide insight into a user’s health, enabling them to share results with their doctor to help make more informed decisions and live healthier life, especially when combined with the BP measurement.

The Samsung Health Monitor app6 will be available on the Galaxy Watch Active2 within the third quarter and will progressively expand to upcoming Galaxy Watch devices.

Galaxy Active2 проведёт замер артериального давления посредством анализа пульсовой волны, которая отслеживается пульсометром. Затем программа анализирует взаимосвязь между калибровочным значением и изменением артериального давления для определения показателей последнего(3).
Для более точной диагностики пользователям рекомендовано проводить калибровку своего устройства не реже одного раза в 4 недели.

Samsung Announces Blood Pressure Monitoring Application for Galaxy Watch Devices

Samsung Electronics announced today that the Samsung Health Monitor app has been cleared by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), as a Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), making it a government-cleared, over-the-counter and cuffless blood pressure monitoring application. The Samsung Health Monitor app, when paired with advanced sensor technology on the Galaxy Watch Active2,1 enables you to easily and more conveniently measure and track your blood pressure.
Globally, high blood pressure is known to significantly increase your risk of brain, kidney and heart diseases, including stroke and coronary heart disease when not managed properly. By helping users measure and track their blood pressure, the Samsung Health Monitor app gives people greater insight into their health and allows them to make more informed decisions, to lead healthier lives.

Once your Galaxy Watch Active2 device has been calibrated with a traditional cuff, you can simply tap to “Measure” your blood pressure anytime, anywhere. The device measures blood pressure through pulse wave analysis, which is tracked with the Heart Rate Monitoring sensors. The program then analyzes the relationship between the calibration value and the blood pressure change to determine the blood pressure.2 To ensure accuracy, users are required to calibrate their device at least every four weeks.

Upcycling for Good: Samsung and Sustainable Textile Brand Kvadrat’s Eco-Friendly Accessory Line

As a company that looks to the future, Samsung innovates to change people’s lives for the better. Not only does this mean creating technologies and devices that allow users to better navigate their daily lives, but it also takes the form of allowing consumers to feel confident that, with a Samsung product, they have made an environmentally-friendly choice.
Thanks to a partnership with premium Danish textile brand Kvadrat, the latest Samsung accessories for the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Watch Active2 are no exception.

Accessories for Good

When developing accessories for the Galaxy S20 series and other of the company’s latest products, Samsung made the decision to partner with Kvadrat, a company rooted in Scandinavian design tradition that has acquired the European Union’s Ecolabel certification – a certification known for its strict judgment criteria.
Following the sustainable practice of upcycling, the special Galaxy S20+ phone case is made up of re-purposed 500ml plastic bottles that are melted and reformulated into textile yarns. Upcycling, also known as ‘creative reuse’, is the process of transforming end-of-life products into new materials that not only are of better quality than the original, but also benefit the environment. In the case of Kvadrat’s yarn-making process, one plastic bottle can be repurposed to produce 2 Galaxy S20+ phone cases.
These recycled yarns help to reduce the number of plastic bottles found in landfills and are produced in a way that reduces the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during manufacturing as compared with traditional material processes. The plastic bottle-sourced yarn is formed in an eco-friendly process that preserves non-renewable energy resources. Samsung is the first company among major brands in the mobile industry to have produced a phone case for its flagship device using recycled materials.
The Galaxy S20+ phone case made with textiles by Kvadrat follows the sustainable practice of upcycling by transforming end-of-life plastic bottles into recycled polyester yarns, from which cases can then be fashioned.
These recycled yarns are eco-friendly because they reduce the amount of PET bottles in landfills; in the U.S. alone, it is estimated that over 60 million of these bottles end up in landfills every single day. Each recycled 500ml plastic bottle can create 2 phone cases, allowing users the peace of mind that with the purchase of this special phone case, they are actively contributing to the reduction of plastic pollution.
The recycled yarns are also manufactured in a way that reduces carbon dioxide emissions as compared to traditional processes. Compared to conventional polyester production methods, Kvadrat’s recycled yarns are formed in a process that consumes less energy and preserves precious oil resources.
Last year, Samsung announced a partnership with the UN Development Programme to support the Sustainable Development Goals (also known as the Global Goals) which address some of the biggest challenges faced around the world, including the fight for climate action. In line with this, a portion of revenue from sales of the Samsung Global Goals edition of the Galaxy S20+ case made with Kvadrat textiles will be donated to UNDP in support of the 17 Global Goals(1).
As well as purchasing the Samsung Global Goals edition case, Galaxy users can also download the Samsung Global Goals app in order to discover more ways to get involved with the Samsung Global Goals initiative. With the app, users can learn more about each of the Global Goals and the issues they seek to tackle with detailed information, facts and figures on each Goal available. The app also helps raise money for the Global Goals, firstly by allowing users to donate directly to the Global Goals on the UNDP website and secondly by collecting ad revenue for the UNDP whenever users interact with ads on the app.
In addition to producing a line of cases for the Galaxy S20+, Samsung will also be releasing straps for the Galaxy Watch Active2 made out of Kvadrat textiles and other sustainable materials for those eco-minded Watch users.

Начальная партия новых смартфонов Samsung Galaxy Z Flip со складывающимся пополам дисплеем была раскуплена в первый же день на нескольких рынках, в том числе в США, Объединенных Арабских Эмиратах и Сингапуре. Об этом сообщает южнокорейский новостной портал Pulse со ссылкой на отчёт Samsung.
Техногигант открыл приём заказов на свои новейшие "раскладушки" по цене 1380 долларов в прошлую пятницу, 14 февраля. По данным источника, Samsung подготовил порядка 20.000 устройств только для Южной Кореи. Это вдвое больше начальной партии Galaxy Fold, первой складной модели Samsung, дебют которой состоялся в сентябре 2019 года.
Согласно данным Pulse, особым спросом на глобальном рынке пользуется эксклюзивный набор мобильных девайсов Samsung (включающий Galaxy Z Flip), оформленных модным дизайнерским бюро Thom Browne. Причём покупателей совсем не отпугивает высокая цена этого комплекта. Линейка продуктов от Samsung/Tom Browne дебютировала на мероприятии New York Fashion Week Event 12 февраля и вызвала настоящий фурор.  
Несмотря на увеличенный объём сигнальной партии и довольно внушительный ценник Galaxy Z Flip, смартфоны разобрали практически моментально. В онлайн-магазине Samsung сообщается, что в настоящее время модель полностью распродана. Вендор лишь предлагает оставить электронный адрес для отправки уведомления о наличии товара.
На русскоязычном сайте Samsung, где принимались заказы на Galaxy Z Flip стоимостью 120.000 рублей, по состоянию на 19 февраля в наличии также нет ни одной модификации смартфона.
Аналитики отмечают, что спрос на Galaxy Z Flip существенно превзошёл предложение. В Samsung Electronics изначально планировали реализовать в 2020 году порядка 2.500.000 этих устройств, но теперь рассчитывают на более высокий результат. Для сравнения: прошлогодняя реализация предшествующей модели Galaxy Fold оценивается примерно в 500.000 штук.
Позитивная реакция рынка на новинку от Samsung подтверждает правоту экспертов Strategy Analytics, которые ранее предсказали существенный рост популярности смартфонов со сгибающимися дисплеями. Ожидается, что в этом году поставки таких устройств увеличатся до 8.000.000, тогда как в 2019-м их отгрузки не дотянули до 1.000.000 единиц.

Galaxy Z Flip’s initial batch sold out globally

Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Z Flip has proved again that foldable phones could create new smartphone demand with its initial shipments out of stock on its first day in several markets including the United States, United Arab Emirate, Russia and Singapore. 
The category-bending foldable smartphone which began selling last Friday draws a hot response also from Korea as more consumers are willing to get it even without any mobile carriers’ subsidy. The initial pre-order batch of Z Flip models are now sold out at Samsung’s online store, according to the company. 
One reason behind the phone’s high demand is its simple sleek design and cheaper price tag, which starts at $1,380, lower than its bulky predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Fold, according to market experts. A special Thom Browne variant of the model with a higher price tag is even more popular. All pre-sale tickets are sold out. Some are even asking for a premium of over 1 million won ($840) on the $2,500 limited edition on a local secondhand dealing website.
The first batch of Samsung’s new foldable smartphone is known to be some 20,000 units, 10 times larger than that of the Galaxy Fold, but the current supply is certainly outpaced by demand, market analysts said. Samsung Electronics expects this year’s sales of the Galaxy Z Flip to surpass its initial target of 2.5 million devices. Sales of the Galaxy Fold reached 500,000 units last year. 
Analysts say the favorable market response is bolstering the outlook for stocks of Samsung Electronics and related component suppliers. 
On Tuesday, Samsung Electronics posted a video on how the device is manufactured, tested and shipped, saying that the Galaxy Z Flip is now made in Korea not in Vietnam.

Samsung Electronics стал 3-м глобальным поставщиком носимых устройств в 3-м квартале этого года, согласно отчёту о состоянии рынка, опубликованном 11 декабря, где говорится о бурно растущем спросе на такие гаджеты. 
Южнокорейский техногигант поставил 8,3 миллиона единиц носимых устройств в период с июля по сентябрь, что почти в 2,5 раза больше, чем годом ранее, говорится в свжем докладе исследовательской компании International Data Corp.
По данным IDC, Samsung стал 3-м игроком на мировом рынке носимых устройств с долей 9,8% по итогам 3-го квартала, что на одну ступень выше, чем годом ранее, когда корпорация занимала 7,4% рынка. 
«В настоящее время корпорация смогла успешно объединить в одну экосистему свои умные часы и беспроводные наушники со смартфонами Galaxy, и эта стратегия окупилась, поскольку многие операторы по всему миру помогли продвинуть эту линейку Samsung», - говорится в сообщении IDC. 
Apple также укрепила свои лидирующие позиции в 3-м квартале с долей 35%, отрузив в торговые сети 29,5 миллиона единиц носимых устройств, включая Apple Watch, а также наушники AirPods и Beats. Доля рынка американского технического гиганта в 3-м квартале 2018 года составляла 23%.
По данным IDC, китайская Xiaomi заняла 2-е место с 12,4 млн единиц носимых устройств, при этом её рыночная доля сократилась с 17,1% до 14,6% в годовом выражении. 
Ещё один китайский производитель Huawei Technologies продемонстрировал наибольший рост после того, как поставки его носимых устройств выросли более чем 3 раза по сравнению показателями годичной давности, достигнув 7,1 миллиона единиц в 3-м квартале, что было достаточно, чтобы занять 4-ю позицию на рынке с долей 8,4%.
Следует отметить, что впечатляющие цифры продаж китайских вендоров достигаются, в основном, за счёт отгрузки бюджетных фитнес-трэкеров, где маржинальность минимальна.
Если брать в расчёт премиальные устройства, от которых зависит основной объём прибыли, то здесь Samsung занимает 2-е место вслед за Apple. Это произошло благодаря высокому спросу на смарт-часы серии Galaxy последних поколений.

Samsung emerges as No. 3 vendor of wearable devices in Q3

Samsung Electronics was the third-largest vendor of wearable devices in the third quarter of the year, a market report showed Dec. 11, amid soaring global demand for wearables. 
The South Korean tech giant shipped 8.3 million units of wearable devices in the July-September period, more than doubling from a year earlier, according to the latest report from market tracker International Data Corp.   
It emerged as the No. 3 player in the global wearables market with a 9,8% share in the third quarter, up one notch from a year earlier when the company had a 7,4% share, IDC data showed. 
“To date, the company has been able to successfully bundle its smartwatches and Galaxy buds with its smartphones and this strategy has paid off as many carriers around the world helped promote Samsung‘s lineup,” IDC said in a release.
Apple solidified its top position in the third quarter with a 35% share after shipping 29.5 million units of wearable devices, including the Apple Watch, AirPods and Beats headphones. The American tech behemoth’s market share was 23% in the third quarter of 2018. 
China’s Xiaomi was the runner-up with 12.4 million units of wearables shipments although its market share declined to 14,6% from 17,1% a year earlier, IDC data showed. 
Its Chinese compatriot Huawei Technologies posted the sharpest growth after its wearable device shipments more than tripled from a year earlier to reach 7.1 million units in the third quarter, which was enough to take the No.4 position in the market with an 8,4% share.
It should be noted that the impressive sales figures of Chinese vendors are achieved mainly due to the shipment of budget fitness trackers, where the margin is minimal.
If we take into account the premium devices on which the bulk of the profit depends, then here Samsung takes the 2nd place after Apple. This happened due to the high demand for the latest generation of Galaxy smart watches.

Samsung launches trade-in on wearable devices in Russia

Samsung Electronics launches a trade-in program for smart accessories, in which, when donating used devices, including fitness bracelets and mechanical watches, the user can purchase new models of smart watches with a benefit of up to 19.500 rubles ($300).

New Galaxy Watch and Watch Active UX Offers Users Enhanced Features Found on Galaxy Watch Active2

The Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active users will soon be able to enjoy all the user experience functionality found on the Galaxy Watch Active2 thanks to a new software update. Samsung Electronics is bringing a range of dynamic updates to its earlier-generation watches, including enhanced Samsung Health features, Bixby features, and customization options.
Once Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active users download the latest software update, they will be able to take fuller advantage of what Bixby has to offer, including using Bixby Voice to start exercise routines, find out time differences between places, and easily control their SmartThings ecosystem. Not only does Bixby learn from your routine and become more helpful over time, but its newly expanded language capabilities include British English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
With this latest upgrade, Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active users will also be able to customize their Watch faces more than ever before. Across all of our Galaxy Watch models, users will now have access to 24 new sub-dials and complications, building on the 17 already available, making the watch even more customizable, so users can access exactly the information they want, where they want it. And notably, the improved UX will bring our new My Style feature to Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active for the first time.
The new update brings several new UX features to both the TIZEN-powered Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active as well, significantly streamlining the user experience. Icons for in-use apps have been moved to the bottom of the watch face, helping users keep track of and quickly access any apps with in-progress tasks, such as outgoing calls. Additionally, the current time will now always be displayed on-screen when the stopwatch app is in use or users are on a call, and users can more easily customize the icons in their quick panel thanks to a change in layout. Other UX benefits include a clearer graphic UI, easier user interaction, and new emoji offerings in a range of diverse skin tones. For Galaxy Watch Active users, a new Touch Bezel interface is included in the upgrade, allowing users to navigate using finger swipe actions around the bezel.
The new UX also features a number of new capabilities for Samsung Health. Users can now keep track of their fitness goals through the Daily Active feature, as well as track lap times while running or cycling. And as part of the expanded heart monitoring suite, Galaxy Watch will now support a Low Heart Rate Alert.
Beginning today, Samsung will begin to roll out the update region-by-region. The new software update will offer Galaxy Watch users even more tools for taking ownership over their health, more opportunities to make navigating your Galaxy Watch easier using Bixby Voice commands, and more ways to turn their favorite watch into a statement piece.

Samsung Joins Forces with Star Wars™ for Holiday Collaboration

Collaboration encourages Star Wars superfans to celebrate two Galaxies uniting

Samsung Electronics today announced the start of its holiday collaboration with Lucasfilm in advance of the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in December, 2019. The collaboration will unite two Galaxies – a Galaxy from far, far away, and the Samsung Galaxy – to generate excitement for the final installment in the Skywalker saga.
“Samsung Galaxy products are designed for pursuing passions, and Star Wars fans are some of the most passionate fans there are,” said Stephanie Choi, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing Team of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are always looking for new ways to enhance the mobile experience, and with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming to theaters this December, we saw the perfect opportunity to bring together the best Galaxy devices with the sbest story in the galaxy.”
Samsung and Star Wars are aiming to create a joyous holiday season as part of its special holiday collaboration. To kick off the campaign, Samsung and Star Wars will release a campaign video centered on a dog with a striking resemblance to iconic Star Wars character, Chewbacca, as well as another character that Star Wars superfans will recognize toward the end of the video. The story of the campaign film is about a family using Galaxy devices to communicate seamlessly across their devices to make their Holiday dreams come true. With the connected ecosystem amongst Galaxy Note10, Note10+, Watch Active2 and Tab S6, the film tells that amazing things are possible. The film features a number of references to the Star Wars universe for superfans to enjoy. It will be a fun challenge to find how many hidden items are featured in the film.

Samsung Wins 46 CES 2020 Innovation Awards for Outstanding Design and Engineering

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in technology, announced today that 46 of its new product innovations have been recognized as CES® 2020 Innovation Awards winners, including three Best of Innovations accolades. This prestigious award honors devices and services that display outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge technology. The Galaxy Note10+ 5G and two Samsung Visual Display products were the winners of Best of Innovation awards.
The awards highlight Samsung’s heritage of achievements in developing groundbreaking innovations that propel the industry forward. This year, Samsung’s award-winning honorees span a range of categories including Visual Displays, Gaming, Software and Mobile Apps, Embedded Technology, Tech for a Better World, Sustainability, Home AV Components & Accessories, Computer Hardware and Components, Health and Wellness, Fitness, Sports and Biotech, Wearables, Mobile Devices and Accessories, Computer Accessories, Home appliance and Smart Home.
