Samsung готовит к выпуску новые смарт-часы премиального уровня на TIZEN OS

Судя по всему, южнокорейский техногигант собирается выпустить преемника топовой модели Galaxy Watch, которая была представлена около полутора лет назад. Согласно предварительным данным, основанным на официальных сертификационных документах, это будет наиболее оснащённое носимое устройство из когда-либо выпускавшихся под маркой Samsung.
Старшей 45-мм модификации пророчат титановый корпус, обновлённую аппаратную платформу с удвоенным объёмом постоянной памяти (8Гб против 4Гб в предыдущем поколении) и удвоенный объём ОЗУ. Разумеется, будет версия со встроенной eSIM-картой и поддержкой LTE (модель SM-R855 предназначена для стран, где мобильные операторы поддерживают технологию eSIM), что позволит пользоваться часами без привязки к смартфону.
Учитывая прогресс Samsung в сфере отслеживания физического здоровья человека, следует ожидать наличия таких важных функций как мониторинг кровяного давления и ЭКГ.
Самым дискуссионным пока остаётся вопрос наличия (или отсутствия) в новых Galaxy Watch механического безеля, который являлся эксклюзивным решением для носимых устройств Samsung премиального уровня. В последние дни появилась информация, что вращающееся кольцо управления всё-таки появится в предполагаемых Galaxy Watch 2.
Конечно же будут выпущены и более доступные по цене варианты меньшего размера с применением более дешёвых материалов корпуса (сталь и алюминий) и без наличия LTE-модуля.
Ожидается, что Galaxy Watch 2 на новой версии операционной системы TIZEN будут представлены в ходе августовского мероприятия Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020.

Samsung is preparing to release new the TIZEN-powered premium smartwatch

Apparently, the South Korean tech giant is going to release a successor to the top model Galaxy Watch, which was introduced about a year and a half ago. According to preliminary data, based on official certification documents, this will be the most equipped wearable device ever produced under the Samsung brand.
The most expensive 45-mm modification will receive a titanium case, an updated hardware platform with twice the amount of read-only memory (8GB versus 4GB in the previous generation) and double the amount of RAM. Of course, there will be a version with a built-in eSIM card and LTE support (SM-R855), which will allow you to use the watch without synchronization with a smartphone.
Given Samsung’s progress in tracking human health, you should expect important features like blood pressure monitoring and ECG.
The most controversial issue remains the presence (or lack of) on the new Galaxy Watch mechanical bezel, which was an exclusive solution for premium Samsung wearable devices. In recent days, information has appeared that a rotating control ring should appear in the alleged Galaxy Watch 2.
Of course, smaller options with cheaper housing materials (steel and aluminum) and without the presence of an LTE module will also be released at a lower price.
It is expected that the Galaxy Watch 2 on the new version of the TIZEN operating system will be presented during the August event Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020.

Линейка очистителей воздуха, получившая название Samsung Pet Care, удаляет шерсть и запахи домашних животных благодаря применению фирменной технологии фильтрации. В частности, новые устройства оснащены специальным дезодорирующим фильтром, который удаляет более 99% запахов, исходящих от домашних животных.
Благодаря точному анализу компонентов запаха, формирующегося в квартирах с домашним животными, новый очиститель воздуха способен избавить вас от неприятностей. Обычно в таких жилых помещениях фиксируются 3 компонента, вызывающих дискомфорт от домашних питомцев: запах тела, фекалий и корма для домашнего животного.
Дезодорирующий фильтр, установленный в Samsung Pet Care, использует запатентованную технологию катализатора с активированным углём для достижения эффективности очистки 99% от запаха из трёх указанных выше компонентов. Эффективность дезодорации была сертифицирована Intertek, единственной международной организацией по испытаниям и сертификации продукции в Южной Корее.
Удаление вредных газов, таких как аммиак, ацетальдегид, формальдегид и толуол, также является основным предназначением Samsung Pet Care. Samsung Launches New Pet Air Purifiers

Samsung Electronics Korea has announced the launch of air purifiers designed for families with pets.
Samsung Pet Care's range of air purifiers removes pet hair and odors through proprietary filtering technology. In particular, the new devices are equipped with a special deodorizing filter, which removes more than 99% of the odors emanating from pets.
Thanks to an accurate analysis of the components of the smell that forms in the living room with pets, the new air purifier can save you from trouble. Typically, in these living quarters, 3 components are fixed that cause discomfort from pets: body odor, feces odor and pet food odor.
The deodorizing filter installed in Samsung Pet Care uses patented activated carbon catalyst technology to achieve 99% odor removal efficiency of the three components above. The effectiveness of deodorization was certified by Intertek, the only international organization for testing and certification of products in South Korea.
Removing harmful gases such as ammonia, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde and toluene is also Samsung Pet Care’s main focus. In order to improve the performance of new devices, the activated carbon filter area was increased by more than 3 times. This allowed to significantly increase the volume of processed air in the premises.
Samsung Pet Care is also equipped with a dual ultra-thin filter that effectively removes pet hair and fine dust. Filters can be easily removed from the device housing for replacement or for washing in running water.
During the period of intensive molting of the animal, the “For animals only” mode can be activated, which increases the amount of processed air and helps to efficiently collect hair and small particles.
In addition, Samsung Pet Care uses the following components:

▲ PM 1.0 laser sensor that detects even small particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns in real time

The latest Mupung Cube Pet Care is available in 2 versions (90㎡ and 94㎡). Home purifiers cost 1.1 million and 1.3 million South Korean won, respectively.
In addition, Samsung Electronics will also introduce the more affordable Blue Sky Pet Care and Mupoong Cube Pet Care models in early summer.

Как уже давно повелось, Samsung предлагает свои компьютеры на ограниченном числе рынков во избежание конкуренции с крупными заказчиками его электронных компонентов для PC. Обычно свои фирменные PC южнокорейский техногигант продаёт у себя на родине, а также в США, Китае, Бразилии, Сингапуре и в некоторых странах Западной Европы.

Благодаря специальному приложению владельцы электронных гаджетов этого брэнда, проживающие в США и Канаде, получат возможность покупать, продавать, обменивать и хранить цифровые активы.

Samsung integrates blockchain wallet with Gemini exchange

Samsung, the South Korean smartphone giant that has been experimenting with bitcoin for some time, is doubling down on cryptocurrency.
Samsung's Blockchain Wallet will add support for users of U.S. bitcoin and crypto exchange Gemini in North America, it has been revealed.
Users of Samsung's crypto wallet, which allows self custody of bitcoin and crypto directly on newer Samsung Galaxy models, will be able to buy and sell bitcoin and a small selection of other cryptocurrencies via the Gemini exchange.
They will also be able to view Gemini account balances and transfer their bitcoin and crypto into a higher security cold storage account.
"Crypto is not just a technology, it is a movement," said Gemini chief executive Tyler Winklevoss, who, along with his twin brother, has campaigned for Wall Street adoption of bitcoin and crypto.
"We are proud to be working with Samsung to bring crypto’s promise of greater choice, independence, and opportunity to more individuals around the world."
Samsung has become an early leader in smartphone bitcoin and cryptocurrency support after introducing the Blockchain Keystore last year—a move that could boost ailing bitcoin and crypto adoption.
Many in the bitcoin and cryptocurrency community see stalled user adoption as one of the biggest hurdles the nascent technology is currently facing.
Clunkey exchanges and clumsy customer support are common complaints made against bitcoin and crypto services, with many potential users lacking the required technology confidence to buy and store cryptocurrencies themselves.
"For millions of Samsung users across the U.S. and Canada, being able to store crypto directly on their phones lowers another barrier to entry," said Jeanine Hightower-Sellitto, managing director of operations at Gemini.
The partnership comes as bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges around the world see user registrations and trading volumes soar amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Customer demand for regulated crypto products has remained strong across the investing spectrum, from retail to institutional investors, throughout the pandemic and we expect that demand to continue to grow," Hightower-Sellitto added.

Samsung представил собственную платёжную карту в США

Samsung Electronics America в партнёрстве с технологической компанией SoFi, занимающейся разработками программ для учёта финансов, представляет пластиковую дебетовую карту Samsung Money с функцией кэшбэка и поддержкой бесконтактной оплаты.
На карте Samsung отсутствует номер, дата выпуска, CVV-код и подпись владельца. Всё управление банковской картой осуществляется через мобильное приложение Samsung Pay. Таким образом, если владелец потеряет карту или её украдут, никто не сможет списать с неё деньги.
Заказать карту Samsung Money на территории США можно через приложение только в смартфонах Samsung. Клиент получит карту по почте.
Через мобильное приложение владелец карты сможет узнавать подробную информацию о состоянии счёта и всех проведённых операциях. Счёт банковской карты автоматически привязывается к Samsung Pay. Как и раньше, оплачивать покупки можно будет с помощью смартфона.

Samsung Electronics Russia together with Visa payment system announces a special offer in which all Russian Samsung Pay users and Visa cardholders of partner banks will be able to make secure money transfers without commission to any recipient card, regardless of its issuing bank and payment system until August 10, 2020 inclusive.
“Samsung Pay Money Transfer is a unique solution within the framework of our payment service, which was first launched in Russia (September 2018). It guarantees high operational safety and ease of use. To date, more than 6.5 million registered users of the application in Russia can conveniently and safely send funds from any card of international payment systems added to Samsung Pay. In today's situation, our joint offer with Visa will allow even more people to take advantage of this service,” commented Olga Chechetkina, head of Samsung's payment service at Samsung Electronics Russia.
To transfer without commission, the sender just needs to launch the Samsung Pay application, swipe up from the bottom of the smartphone screen, select the Visa card and click on the “Money Transfer” button next to its image, indicate the recipient’s mobile number and confirm the operation with a fingerprint or PIN-code of the application. The recipient can use the card of any Russian bank of any payment system. In addition, the transaction status can be monitored in real time and, if necessary, cancel the transfer, if the recipient has not yet confirmed it. After end of the promotion period, the transfer fee will be 0.9% of the transfer amount.

Согласно данным отраслевых источников, опубликованных в минувшее воскресенье, реализация бытовой техники от Samsung Electronics в США почти удвоились в мае 2020 по сравнению с показателями годичной давности за тот же период.
LG Electronics Inc. также сообщила о значительном восстановлении продаж бытовой техники.
По словам рыночных экспертов, потребители стали больше заботиться о дезинфекции одежды и качественной сохранности продуктов в условиях пандемии, что привело к желанию многих купить более совершенные модели соответствующих устройств. Samsung, LG white goods sales surge in U.S. on stimulus check, normalized business

South Korean electronics makers are enjoying a boon in home appliance sales in America thanks to a buying spree on washers and refrigerators amid coronavirus lockdowns with relief paychecks. 
Samsung Electronics Co.’s home appliance sales in the United States nearly doubled in May compared to a year earlier, according to industry sources on Sunday. 
LG Electronics Inc. reported significant rebound in white goods sales. 
Consumers have turned more virus-conscious and chose to replace washers and refrigerators amid the pandemic, said a market expert. The U.S. government’s COVID-19 stimulus cash check has helped to drive spending. The federal government doled out $3,600 for a family of four, which is enough to purchase a new home appliance. 
Reopening of retail locations also aided sales.
Best Buy, the country’s largest electronics retailer, has reopened 200 of its stores this month. 
Samsung Electronics has been running its washing machine factory in South Carolina again since April 20 after weeks of shutdown. LG Electronics normalized its washing machine plant in Tennessee last month.

Samsung Biologics bags CMO deals worth W468b

Samsung Biologics has bagged two contract manufacturing deals worth 468 billion won ($378 million) combined, according to its regulatory filing on May 22. 
The total value of the latest deals is equal to two-thirds of the company’s revenue for last year at 701 billion won. 
According to the biopharmaceutical unit of Samsung, it inked a contract manufacturing deal worth 284 billion won with global biopharma GlaxoSmithKline to manufacture the latter’s lupus treatment Benlysta. Benlysta is anticipated to be launched commercially in 2022.
“Today’s agreement with Samsung Biologics complements and reinforces our existing world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing capability and will help ensure we can continue to deliver the transformative medicines that patients need,” said Regis Simard, president of GSK’s Pharmaceuticals Supply Chain. 
The GSK deal had previously been notified on April 22, at which time the deal had only been worth $39.7 million. The finalized deal, which increased in value by $191 million, is effective until the end of 2027.
The other deal, with an unspecified US-based pharma firm, worth 184 billion won, will have Samsung Biologics manufacture the partner’s biologics drug at its plant 3 - the biggest and the most up-to-date biologics manufacturing facility under Samsung.
The deal could grow to $222 million in the long term, according to Samsung Biologics. Under mutual agreement, the identity of this partner will be kept confidential until Dec. 31, 2023.

Samsung Elevates Data Protection for Mobile Devices with New Security Chip Solution

The new EAL 6+ certified-SE chip and dedicated software is a standalone security solution for mobile devices and other applications

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today introduced a standalone turnkey security solution comprised of a Secure Element (SE) chip (S3FV9RR) and enhanced security software that offers protection for tasks such as booting, isolated storage, mobile payment and other applications. The latest security chip is Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+ certified, the highest level acquired by a mobile component.
“In this era of mobility and contact-less interactions, we expect our connected devices, such as smartphones or tablets, to be highly secure so as to protect personal data and enable fintech activities such as mobile banking, stock trading and cryptocurrency transactions,” said Dongho Shin, senior vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics. “With the new standalone security element solution (S3FV9RR), Samsung is mounting a powerful deadbolt on smart devices to safeguard private information.”
Samsung’s new security solution is an enhanced turnkey that follows the first-generation solution (S3K250AF) announced in February. The new security solution is a state-of-the-art component that offers higher assurance levels than its predecessor’s CC EAL 5+ with an industry-leading CC EAL 6+ certified-hardware secure element, S3FV9RR, and powerful security software. CC EAL 6+ is utilized in applications that demand the most stringent security requirements in the market such as flagship smartphones, e-passports and hardware wallets for cryptocurrency.
With twice the secure storage capacity, the new security solution also supports hardware-based root of trust (RoT), secure boot and device authentication that brings mobile security to the next level. Especially for service providers, manufacturers and organizations, secure device authentication is enhanced with the RoT when running proprietary applications on a mobile device. As a bootloader initiates, a chain of trust is activated through which each and every firmware with approved keys is sequentially validated. This secure booting process is handled by the RoT, guarding the device against any possible malicious attacks or unauthorized software updates.
As a standalone solution, the new security solution can work independently from the security performance of the device’s main processor. This makes the solution extremely versatile, expanding the security capabilities of mobile devices, IoT applications, and other devices in all performance levels. In addition, manufacturers can be assured that devices produced at an off-site location are not tainted with non-authorized firmware. The solution also meets the hardware security module requirements for cryptographic operations outlined by an upcoming mobile operating system version.

Samsung Electronics объявляет, что функция ЭКГ в приложении Samsung Health Monitor получила одобрение Министерства продовольственной безопасности и лекарственных средств Южной Кореи (MFDS). Для снятия показаний электрокардиограммы будет использоваться передовая сенсорная технология, доступная на носимых устройствах Galaxy Watch Active2(1). Electrocardiogram Monitoring Cleared for Galaxy Watch Active2 by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety

Electrocardiogram monitoring joins blood pressure measurement in receiving clearance, making the Galaxy Watch Active2 Samsung’s most informed and convenient health tracker yet

Samsung Electronics announced today that the Electrocardiogram (ECG) function of the Samsung Health Monitor app has been cleared by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). The ECG feature uses advanced sensor technology on the Galaxy Watch Active2 (1), and will enable users to measure and analyze their heart rhythm for irregularities indicating Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). (2)

AFib is the most common abnormal heart rhythm, affecting an estimated 33.5 million people worldwide, with 5 million new patients diagnosed annually.(3) It can significantly increase the risk of complications, including blood clots, heart failure and stroke. Every year, over 16 million people will develop a stroke, of which AFib and high blood pressure (hypertension), are known to be the leading causes.(4)

The Samsung Health Monitor app also recently received MFDS clearance for blood pressure (BP) measurement, meaning users will be able to conveniently measure both ECG and BP, giving them a better picture of their overall health. Together, the ground-breaking ECG and BP technology will help users manage and improve their health by providing on-demand measurements.

The ECG function works by analyzing the heart’s electrical activity via an ECG sensor on the Galaxy Watch Active2. Simply open the Samsung Health Monitor app when you are seated comfortably, and ensure the watch is fitted firmly to your wrist. Next, rest your forearm on a flat surface and lightly place a fingertip from the opposite hand on the top button on the Galaxy Watch Active2 for 30 seconds. The app will then measure your heart rate and rhythm, which will be classified as either a Sinus Rhythm (a normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (when the heart beats irregularly).(5)

This recording will provide insight into a user’s health, enabling them to share results with their doctor to help make more informed decisions and live healthier life, especially when combined with the BP measurement.

The Samsung Health Monitor app6 will be available on the Galaxy Watch Active2 within the third quarter and will progressively expand to upcoming Galaxy Watch devices.
